I saw that last night and assume he is referring to all those sketches posted by "The Foreigner" on page 41 (11/2 post). That's all I could figure out...

It's on the Crime Watch Daily jogging video, other news articles, and PV said it in an interview, etc. I've never heard of 5:10 p.m. and think earlier in the case there was something said about once about 5:00 p.m. I've heard that that is the only CCTV she was found on when I talked to LE on the phone (there was an officer in the background that said "We watched over 2,000 hours of footage and this is the only one we saw her on."), but who knows for sure but LE I guess.

I think it would be fairly unusual for LE to give out much factual information on an open homicide investigation, but, jmo. Also, the time she left the house kept getting later : first I heard it was around 5pm. Then it became 510pm. Now it's 530pm. Did KV normally run for about 1 hour - 11/2 hours ? When did Mr. V. become concerned ? If KV left the house at 530pm, wouldn't she still possibly have been still running ( returning home ) at 7pm ? Puzzling. Also, do we know if Mr. V. always called her throughout the time she ran ?

I wonder if KV had received any prior threats ?

It was in an interview somewhere...might be on a Crime Watch Daily interviews or newspaper articles. I remember seeing and hearing it because this guy I know who reads Newsday was on FB messenger with me and he was calculating how many minutes from her house to the area where she was killed and it was based on her running a block in 2-3 mins. We were trying to figure out when the killer was in the park, where he could have exited without being seen, etc and it was all based on her leaving home at 5:30 p.m. and being seen on a camera at 5:46 p.m. I think he calculated that she was probably attacked around 6:00 p.m. or 6:10 p.m. at the latest, but that was 7 weeks ago he was working on that info. I talked to LE then about some things based on that info he calculated and that's when we talked about the one CCTV video footage and lack of other video footage. I felt someone could have entered the park before her from an area where there was no video footage. I'm pretty sure there was a lot of this discussed on here earlier re: camera coverage. I haven't read all the pages, but remember WS going into great detail on this topic. Maybe, look into posts from around September 12th when the KV Jogging Video was released (probably Thread #2)?

Thanks, PP, right now, the public is mostly in the dark about details and specifics. I think we won't know anything for sure until this case goes to trial ? Assuming an arrest, that is. Some things I would like to know : had KV been threatened in the weeks and days before she was killed ? Why do some seasoned homicide detectives on this case believe KV was stalked and targeted ?

my fault...not suspect, but a man seen leaving the area around the time she was killed...

Police said the man was seen leaving Spring Creek Park in Howard Beach, Queens, around the time Vetrano was killed on Aug. 2, but he is not a suspect.

IDK. I feel she was stalked and targeted, as do some other people. KV worked mainly as a cocktail waitress at many high-end bars in Long Island. I was told it was more than just Vetro's. Russo's By-The Bay (2008-2014), and Central Lounge. She also went to many night-clubs so there is wider range of people who could be potential suspects. If she was stalked and targeted, the case gets more complicated. I've not heard of any seasoned homicide detectives saying that but doesn't mean they haven't. In the beginning, NYPD always said random, but now they seem to be open to any possibility.

If it is him, they should have his DNA because the guy with the FB account is the one I think has been arrested 29 times or more. He's the guy that broke into the lady's apartment.

I forgot to add if she was stalked it could have been someone from her Instagram, karinavee.com (I've heard if called "50 Shades of Purple Blog" in honor of KV), her workplaces, her travels, that Paradox movie, etc. The potential suspect list just gets more complicated. I've heard there are those who believe it was random and had something to do with all the rapes/assaults in East Brooklyn and the ones in Bronx...and it could be the same suspect. For some reason, I've always felt this was a stalker and she was targeted because of her massive online presence.

However, the article mentioned that Russo's "gave $1.00 for every customer they had to the mafia" the article mentioned that the catering hall had " well known ties to the mafia". Also mentioned the Gambino family. I mention this only because it gives us another layer, another dimension to Karina's life. I am not implying that Karina had any such involvement, or that she was made unsafe if the paper's article was true. jmo * Interesting, though, that she left in 2013. liz b, thank you for the information and your take on it. A lot gets thrown around at labor disputes among other contentious events, you're right. Time will hopefully tell if your suspicions in tying the timing of Karina's moving on with her career, studies or interests, as something connected, as you and others continue to suggest. The fact remains she kept running, bravely, without apparent or unnatural concern. With all due respect, as I honor your depth of sleuthing knowledge and keen eye, and appreciate all your diligent and concerned thoughts, I find it an apparent, facile and fruitless avenue of inquiry, as the crime seems so messed up and more about itself and not Karina. You may know better, though, based on some information LE may not or may more likely be aware of already? Reports mentions LE continues to receive tips.

I've read in a news article he lived in Queens, and they broke up because he felt the relationship was more serious than she did. I've never seen anything identifying him nor him publicly speaking out. KV had a new long-distance bf that she had met previously in Spain in March and then again, in July when she went to France, etc. He spoke out on Instagram within hours of hearing about her murder. (Please remove if against rules).

Thank you, liz b. Your feelings and intuition always help me to think through a diverse range of angles, much appreciated. Some strange obsession with Karina, somebody able to watch and wait unseen for the right time, in that place, seems possible, I'm not convinced it has much to do with who she was, as much as where she was and when, in August. It's hard to find many secluded parks by the water at that time of year, so could it be possible this perp scouted other places and picked here for the seclusion?

Maybe he had seen her before, maybe not. But I don't think it was anyone who planned ahead of time to rape and kill. It was random opportunity, imo.

Means nothing - just a hunch. But I don't see a targeted hit in this case, despite the temptations to speculate.

OS : according to LE KV was killed by manual strangulation. There was touch DNA on her throat, and on her phone. Blood ( and probably skin cells ) under her fingernails. One thing that stands out for me : there was no mention of semen. Yet, original news reports stated she was penetrated in two areas. It's hard to imagine someone lurking in that area, waiting for a lone female to come along. And even more difficult to believe that a random perp would wait to violate his victim twice, presumably with a foreign object.. Rape by a foreign object is most often a crime of rage, a very personal type of crime.That is a real red flag for me. The most common type of rape is penile rape ,and it is usually a crime of opportunity. The weeds where KV was running isn't a park, in the usual sense. It wouldn't be much of a trolling area for rapists. And in fact I don't know when the last reported rape happened there. For these reasons I think she was targeted and followed into the weeds. jmo, though.
