A long time ago I interviewed a homocide detective who said sex crimes are the one crime that the criminal is unable to vary due to sexual obsession. I don't think he is obsessed with joggers? But I would guess he's obsessed with young, fit girls wearing less clothing than average or revealing clothing....something that lights up his sick brain. Maybe also long hair? Or even long brown hair? And he is a hunter so the girl would have to be alone . ( replying to Evey)

Or maybe he hates joggers or hates model types who turn him down? This dude and the Vm guy(who could be the same guy) strike me as practiced serial killers and karina his test run maybe

I think he probably saw her jogging and figured out where she was going by her direction then laid in wait until she jogged past. On the video she did jog through a neighborhood. The killer could have driven up ahead of her then waited.

Yea if it's a random act(as in never even met or spoke to her only as saw her that day) that's my guess. COuld be a jogger killing serial killer who's evolving to find his favorite ways.

That's true but since she's seemed to be seeing so she may still turn a good looking bundy type down also and he may not be use to that and raged

I'm sorry but I just don't see it. Why did he automatically think someone had hurt his daughter after a half hour? Why pick up the machete?
Something here is odd.

I agree, jmo. Also, I find it weird Mr.V,after not going running with his daughter because of an injury. Yet, he went out looking for his daughter in hard to get through terrain. He warned her about going to that particular area. It's the first place he checked. <modsnip>

This was a brutal murder. It's difficult to imagine this perp not re-offending. Difficult to imagine him/them not doing something just like this again...jmo

Welcome, and thanks for posting.
Mr. V. was a first responder FDNY for 30 years. Injuries are common in this group of men and women. I don't think he would have let K. go running alone if he suspected something was going to happen that evening. Although he may have felt apprehensive in general. jmo though.

LE is on record as saying that Mr. V. is not a suspect in his daughters death. They also say that her ex BF ( who she had just broken up with) is not a suspect either.

I can't look for the post now but I read in several articles she went with her best friend for KV's 30th bday. It is the girl that is there with her Dad most of the time. She has posted a ton of pics of KV on instagram. Sad.. they seem like sisters.

I'm one of those who don't always believe what the police say. Other than that, I've moved on from this possible but not probable theory.

Karina Vetrano’s Father Petitions State To Allow For Familial DNA Testing
http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2017/01/24/vetrano-familial-dna-testing/

I hope the familial testing will be done in NY. On another note, I keep thinking about the Belt Parkway. This crime occurred in broad daylight on a weekday during rush hour. I wonder if LE tried to find out if anyone driving on the Belt Parkway that day had a dash cam and may have inadvertently caught something on video. People usually commute the same route to and from school or work around the same times. In Albuquerque, LE has put up billboards on the highway to glean tips on murder cases.

I agree. My thought is he for some reason had some weird experience or something there but I wonder if this was a friend or stalker and he sent a photo of her to him or she texted her dad about someone. Maybe we should look up other incidents within the last year and what makes that spot different than the others in the park

JMO but I don't find this strange. He had a back injury so he didn't go running which is reasonable. He had a odd feeling and went to check on her. When this first happened many articles and interviews included neighbors and friends saying that the "weeds" (part of her jogging route) was dangerous and that drug users, homeless, etc. sometimes hung out in the woods. So, he knew it could be dangerous. He told her not to go that way and she said she would be fine. I am sure when jogging together they felt safer. So if he had a strange feeling come over him and thought of the "weeds", I think it is reasonable he went out to look for her. I am sure at that point his back injury took a backseat to his daughter.

Also IMO it's not really "hard to get thru terrain" where Karina was running and found. Mostly overgrowth and weeds. I don't think a back injury would hold anyone back from going to look for a loved one that they had a bad feeling about something happening to.

IIRC way back in the thread some of the sleuthers here did look up past incidents in the park. Have you read the whole thread? I know it's a lot to go and read over.

Anyways I can't remember there being anything that stuck out as something that would relate to Karinas murder. Back in the day that specific area the mob used the park as a disposal site for bodies/body, again that's IIRC. IMO I do not think that relates to Karinas case at all.
