“Anyone that has any information or knows Kelly or saw seen her in the South Farmingdale area, might have seen her with any kind of person, males or females, or knows anything about her, her habits – please get in touch with us,” said Fitzpatrick.

Sources say Owen was strangled and found deceased in her own bed.

I find that release of her photo and the request for info r/t any "males or females" she was seen with interesting.

Also, interesting that there were no signs of forced entry.

LE didn't indicate whether or not there were any signs of a struggle in her bedroom, however.

If nothing was taken, we're not looking at this being a botched robbery where someone thought the house was vacant and panicked when they discovered KO was in the home.

Crime of passion, maybe?

I don’t believe the cases are related. Unfortunately I was at the emergency room when Justin was brought in. He was shot in a drive by shooting, in a town where a drive by shooting is very out of the ordinary. That case is believed to be road rage connected according to the NCPD press conference.

Houses appear to be closely lined on that street.
Hard to believe nobody would have seen a vehicle if the killer had parked in the driveway.

KO's living with her parents but has a different last name.

Wondering if she's separated? Divorced?

Her FB doesn't show her with any males except someone I think is her brother…is that who other people are thinking that is in those pics with her?

IMO the young men in the pictures are relatives and she may be separated or divorced from her daughter’s father. She seems to be very well thought of.

Long Island nursing student found strangled in her bedroom: police

She was last seen Wednesday morning, according to Nassau County Police Det. Lt. Stephen Fitzpatrick. She got her daughter ready around 8 a.m., and then Owen’s father took the girl to school, Fitzpatrick said.

Owen normally goes to her daughter’s school around 3 p.m. to help with the after school programs, Fitzpatrick said, but when her parents returned home around 3:30 p.m., they found Owen’s car was still there.

Authorities believe Owen had been dead for sometime. The medical examiner later determined she died from strangulation.

So, a couple of things that can be gleaned from this article:

This is the first mention I've seen that authorities believe KO had been dead for "some time" when her parents discovered her @ around 3:30 that afternoon. Coupled with the fact that she was found strangled "in her bed," it sounds like it's more likely that she murdered some time that morning vs. that afternoon.

Also, all the articles have indicated that KO's dad took her daughter to school that day.
All have also stated that "her parents returned home around 3:30."

I haven't seen anything about what time her parents left their home that day.
It sounds like wherever they went, they were together…
Does her brother have a job and if so, I wonder what his work schedule was that day.

There's a pretty well-defined timeline here, which does help LE.

What I find strange is: did she get her daughter dressed and then the daughter's grandfather (Owen's father) take her to school? Did she go back to bed? What were her plans for the day other than picking her daughter up at 3?

She was a student so I'm guessing her plans were for studying most of the day. She might have also done things (or planned to do things) like laundry or cleaning around the house. I'm not entirely clear what you find strange in your post though. Is it strange that there are no known plans before picking her daughter up at 3? That doesn't strike me personally as odd. I have loads of things to do around my house and would frequently not have known outside plans for the day.

It might be that the grandparents or grandfather are leaving for the day around the same time the granddaughter goes to school so the long standing plan is he takes her to school and then Owen picks her up and participates in the after school activities as mentioned in a previous article.

With so many neighbors having cameras on their houses I'm really hoping they are able to catch who entered the house quickly. I assume crime of passion and spur of the moment. But maybe someone planned this, knew of cameras and parked somewhere else and snuck around and in? But it seems to me that someone sneaking around the neighborhood would stand out.

I agree with the bolded above. I used to get the kids ready for school in the A.M. and hubby would drop them off on his way to work.

I'd pick them up after school so I'd often stay home much of the day, doing chores, making calls and answering emails, walking dogs, planning dinner...plenty to do before 2 pm comes around.

And I don't find it odd that she was in bed. I'd sometimes go back to the bed after family left and sit and have coffee, read email, write out grocery lists , etc.

She was a student so she probably had lots of reading to do.

But there is also a possibility that she had a planned visit set up, since living with parents probably made it harder to have romantic time.

This reminds me a bit of Holly Bobo. Her brother was home when she was abducted and his demeanor was odd, according to some. He was a suspect in many people’s eyes. But, he was totally innocent.
The second I read this and found out she had a daughter, my mind went to the father of that daughter. Only natural.

Someone walking in a hoodie early in that area would not be out of the ordinary. It is only a few houses to the main road and the elementary school is right across the road. Further down that road is the high school. Behind the elementary school is a wooded pathway that leads to a preserve. So many places one could leave a car along the many exits and entrances to the preserve and not be seen in the immediate area for very long.
