NY - Leah Walsh, 29, Bethpage, 26 October 2008

Let's hope he didn't do something to a child and didn't want anyone to find out about it...
but thankfully we don't have to wonder and worry about him being out on the streets if he did hurt someone....
poor Leah....
i am just so amazed at how many people in this world are capable of taking someone's life...
and my word....especially the life of someone they knew and loved before....

That was quick! LE knows a lot more than we do at this point.

It was very quick! Many things don't add up here. For someone like Leah, who seems to be texting so much and so cell phone savvy, she wouldn't call a co-worker to let them know she would be running late? How was the tire flat? I know in CA, when they leave a sticker like that on your car, it's been sitting a fair number of hours, not FIVE minutes after she supposedly texted her husband, telling him she loves him and have a nice day? Why wouldn't she call him (not text) and say, come get me or come change the tire or something? Does not make sense. And how many of us text our husbands in the morning to 'have a nice day?' Number one, she would have just seen him like 5 minutes prior (assuming the car was 2.66 miles from the home) AND it happened to be the morning she turns up missing? How many other mornings did she do this sort of texting? I bet not many.

They probably know she wasn't the last one driving the car, the car was there a while (witnesses) or they know somehow the car had sat overnight. My head is spinning on this one, but I'm relieved they have him.

Wow! What a difference a few hours makes. When I left, they said it could be some time before they id the body. Now it's Leah and her husband is under arrest!

I knew that 7 hour interview today seemed too long for JUST a missing person. When his brother said he didn't know where he was, I was afraid he'd started to run! Guess he was STILL with LE.

I hate this. It happens almost every day. :(

That was my first thought, too... :( ... but now I'm thinking it was likely a hooker in Atlantic City. It just sounds more probable, knowing that he had just been there and they had a fight when he got back.

Nice to see swift action for a change! My guess is this is yet another narcissist who thought, mistakenly, that he was smarter than EVERYONE else. And another young wife's life snuffed out by a controlling freak. What is wrong with these guys?

  • #166
Every one of these jerks think THEY will be the one person that can get away with it. Do they not watch the news?????????? Seems like a great job by LE. I really think his family was unaware too.

WHY??????

WHY are these men doing this? Is it about control? Is it about loss of control? Is it about 'winning'? WHAT is it???? WHY kill your wife? HOW can that be worth it ever? No spouse is worth killing for. There's more love out there for everyone. WHY? Is this something that has gone on forever and it's just more prevelant with having the internet and instant news?

(snip)
The 29-year-old teacher of autistic children disappeared soon after having what a close friend called a "huge fight" with her husband of three years.
Leah Walsh's close friend, Lucas Bean, told the Daily News the teacher text-messaged him on Saturday evening, telling him that William Walsh "went berserk" and that their marriage was over.
"He was cheating on her and they knew the marriage wasn't going to work out," said Bean. "As far as she was concerned, she was scared of him and what he would do."
Bean said Leah Walsh told him her husband went to Atlantic City on Friday and didn't come home until 3 a.m. Saturday and that sparked the big fight.
He said cops told him neighbors reported a battle royal in the couple's rented Bethpage home late Saturday. A neighbor told The News they saw William Walsh leave the house and return several times Sunday, but there was no sign of Leah Walsh.
A neighbor of Leah Walsh's parents, Howard and Mattie Hirschel, said the couple got into a loud quarrel outside the Hirschels' Rockville Centre home last summer.
"I heard him being very abusive to her verbally," the neighbor said. "He was screaming at the top of his lungs and she was just very distraught."

Yeah, these Peterson type men are soooooo stupid. You'd think after so many husbands murdering their wives and failing at getting away with it, they'd learn. Divorce is a much better option than murder. Crime does not pay. You WILL get caught.

"William Walsh, whose wife, Leah, had planned to leave him, was arrested after investigators found inconsistencies in his alibi, police sources told The Post.
He also lied about his marital problems, the sources said.
Leah, who vanished Monday, appeared to have been strangled, the sources added, but said an autopsy will determine the official cause of death.
A "help van" driver stopped to assist and reported seeing a man run from the abandoned car into a yellow car, the sources said; William's vehicle is that color.
A police source said she texted her husband the morning she vanished, and her cellphone has not been found. "

He must have texted himself from her phone.

Probably hooked up with a hooker, lost some mortgage money, and God knows what else. No wonder he was wearing a casino jacket... probably a compulsive gambler.
MG

I don't even give him that much credit.

I don't know what he did as a mortgage broker, but they didn't own a home and for all we know his job could have just been cold calling sales.

Thank goodness he was much sloppier than most of these wife killers. I couldn't figure out if it was the MSM who were not getting the stories right or the husband had inconsistant stories. Now we see, it WAS him that couldn't keep his story straight.

What a complete waste. A beautiful woman with everything going for her and a husband who just .............well, it's already been said by others, he was loosing control, looks like he was a cheater, and the same old stories.

Another senseless crime and tragedy. Another family left mourning the loss of their beautiful daughter who had so much to give.

What a shame. It truly breaks your heart.

My condolances to Leah's family. No one wants to be in their shoes today.

I'm so glad that "help" van driver came by when he did. This 🤬🤬🤬 didn't have a chance of getting away with it after the van driver saw him.

I am confused by this, how did he manage to stage Leah's flat tire and have his own car waiting for him on the highway to jump into? I do not think that Leah actually left in her car that morning it seems more likely that he had killed her by that point and the flat tire scenario was staged by hubby?

From what I've read today, it seems their fight started on Saturday night. The neighbors reported hearing them arguing and then on Sunday they saw William come and go from the residence a few times but never saw Leah. IMO, she most likely was killed Saturday night. Everything else was staged, IMO.

I am with you Fran. I think that they had the fight Saturday night, he left the car on the side of the road Saturday night or Sunday and walked home. Then at some point took (with the other car) her body to the "final location." Ithink he tried to stage the flat tire and test message that Monday morning, not expecting anyone to see him at that early hour.

Couple of Questions:

Do any neighbors recall seing the Ford Focus after Saturday?
What car were they in when she was texting the other guy?
When was the last time anyone talked to her (other than text)?

Hi Fran! Bold above is mine. I agree with your take on things. And might I add an adjective to staged: POORLY (staged)
