TOWN OF LEWISTON, N.Y. (WIVB) - New York State police are still looking for answers after the skeletal remains of a person were found in 1991.

Officials say two teenagers were picking berries near Black Nose Spring Rd. on the Tuscarora Indian Reservation in Niagara County when they came across the remains in a ravine.

State police believe the person was an African American male between 30-45 years old who stood between 5'7" and 5'10".
He had been bound with a cord and a wash cloth was stuffed in his mouth, but it is not clear what killed him.

The investigation shows that he had broken ribs and facial fractures that may have been the result of boxing, police say.
The victim was clothed, wearing a white short-sleeve v-neck undershirt (Fruit of the Loom size 42-44) and long, light-colored medium-size underwear made by Hanes.

Poor guy.

Here's his Namus entry: Unidentified Person Case

One ruleout, Richard Dyer of Henrico, Virginia.

The Namus information indicates he was probably killed in spring 1991 and the injuries might have been from an accident as well as from boxing.

Not much info, but Reginald Pierce went missing from Chicago a few months prior. He looks similar and had visual facial scars that might correlate to the facial fractures the Doe had?

" June 7, 2019. In July of 2018, troopers thought they had a break in the case. Someone reached out thinking the man could be a missing person from Rochester. "...Then ultimately getting the missing person from the Rochester area's dental records and kind of comparing it to the dental records we have now," he said. However, in December of that same year, it was determined that missing Rochester person was not a match.

Trooper O'Callaghan says they are working to use SNP's DNA testing to help locate the victim's family and eventually find his killer."
