Maybe i'm just tired here, but something doesn't add up re SG's 911 call (23 mins, from 4:51 am to 5:14 am) and her being pulled into a vehicle. On the site that shows the map and timeline (can't find link right now) it indicates the 911 call from Coletti and then another 911 call from a neighbour at 5:22. If her call ended with her being pulled into a vehicle at 5:14, how could the other neighbour have seen her at 5:22?

Hi, SillyBilly, thanks for putting it so cogently. I think that Shannan's call ended when she left JB's house and the driver (who was parked not far outside) probably tried to persuade her to get into the car. I think that the family's accounts of her being forced into a car are their anguished attempt to make sense of what they heard or were told was on the 911 tape. Clearly, the timeline as we know it shows that this could not have been possible.

The Newsday account quoted earlier, which is a more direct account from LE, certainly doesn't suggest any forcible kidnapping. (Also note the paraphrase from Shannan's sister.):

"Suffolk police described the 911 call Gilbert made, though they did not release it. Talking to a Suffolk dispatcher, Gilbert "intimates that she's being threatened," McCarthy said. Voices in the background tell her to calm down, he said.

"She's drifting in and out, intoxicated, I would say," McCarthy said.

Gilbert's sister, Sherre, said Gilbert had a history of mental illness and drug abuse that often manifested itself as irrational behavior."

I would think it's fairly safe to say that if there are remains found on the east side of the causeway (northbound), the victims were probably held and killed in a home (or boat that gets docked at) oak beach. Ruling out POI that do not live in oak beach.

I kind of doubt it. Her boyfriend said she was really tight with the "older white guy from LI". It sounds to me like a real boyfriend who was an abusive jerk. It sounds like she went to the hospital due to her injuries. I had the impression that the older guy is someone she had struck up a friendship with (through outcalls) and someone she trusted. I wonder if this was Johnny that her sister was talking about in that post. A few days before her last status update, she indicated that her mood was "used". This is why I kind of wonder if this boyfriend she fought with was Johnny. I wonder if he was maybe taking more of her money from her jobs, in addition to abusing her. This could be why she refused to let him go with her to her last job.

Hi, Svpernin. I share your hopes. Unfortunately, I think that these killing fields are more likely to uncover more victims, probably of other murderers, than of closure in the cases of the serial killer and of Shannan's killer.

Sorry! I read your post wrong. I for some reason thought you posted JB. It's my fault. I'm bouncing between this and the Caylee Anthony threads and my head is getting ready to explode (from the Anthony trial). I really hope that they're searching because they've found something on those images.

I wonder if Johnny gave his phone and computers to LE? I wonder if he was placing ads for Melissa like Megan's boyfriend/pimp was doing.

It all makes sense now. The area being searched is known as Captree Island (not to be confused with Captree state park). Just North of the drawbridge there is an exit that travels under the causeway that leads to the small residential area as well as the other side of the causeway. Its dark and spooky under there at night. Anyone leaving Oak Beach in a hurry could make a quick stop there without anyone on the causeway above seeing them. From there its a short walk to the thickets.

This search is the absolute best shot at finding her remains. My prayers go out to her family for closure.

Hmmm, it could also just be pathetic trolls. They do things like that all the time. They could have either made the accounts after news reports came out and then linked them or they could have hacked previously existing accounts. Those bottom-feeders have no limits to how low they'll sink to provoke emotional responses in the face of tragedies.

FB didn't open up to the public until 9/2006. I really doubt the AC victims had FB pages.Anyone could have set up the accounts.

Do you mean the AC victims? AFAIK, those profiles were not set up by the families. There was a mention earlier in this thread that Kim Raffo's husband (I think it was him) was told about these profiles and did notify police.

I did my recon mission and 101 Anchor Way is indeed a vacant lot. It is very thick bramble. Located between the Doctors old house and JC's house. JC was playing table tennis on the back lawn with his Dad. I would love to know where he saw her footprints in the sand. There is not much sand near his house. It is mostly crushed shells on the peoples driveways. I wonder if he was talking closer to the beach. That would be a great piece of info to know.

I went by CPH's house. His door was open. I was tempting to knowck on the door and ask to see the pictures behind the door. Creepy! LOL!

I also went by GC's house. He appeared to be in his garage working on his old red pickup truck. Then I went down by JB's old house. What a dump. The new owners really could clean that place up a little bit. But they are probably waiting for permits to tear it down and build a mansion.

JB definitely didn't fit in down there. All of the other houses are nicely kept. His was a real dump. Doesn't look like they put a dime into it since the late 70's. Very sad. I bet the neighbors are happy to see him go.

Hi, Mountain Kat, I think that a family or families did set up Face Book accounts for at least one of the victims. Not having this site or these sites, I don't know if they are tributes or places for possible leads, but I'm certain it would be clear from the posts that they would not be confused with these cruel fraudulent sites.

Search to resume serial killer case

Police will again search a South Shore island as part of the Gilgo Beach serial killer case.

The search will begin Tuesday at 9 a.m. and will concentrate on Captree Island, south of the main span of the Robert Moses Causeway bridge. One lane of the Robert Moses Causeway will be closed during the search.

The search is being done "as a result of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's aerial photography," officials said.
