my guess was that he was using mile markers to remember where he put each girl.

what i can't figure out is why did he dump them all in the same area? is it ocd? his signature?

why not find a better hidden area?

if he's been past that same area tons of times, he may have a great visual memory of the specific area. he'd use mile markers (every quarter mile) to remember where he's dumped prior?

possibly the killer has just merely stuck to what works for him. he's dumped one of his first victims in the area, didn't get caught, and just decided to stick with what has worked for him and not deviate. we find a 5th victims 1/2 mile away from the others... which makes me think that either there will be more victims, or something that night made him not line up a 5th...

And, the body not being Shannan's makes me wonder who it could be and how many more are there. There are so many missing persons and some that aren't even listed.
There is a chance it can be that missing woman, Lozada.
But there are so many missing women, including Lutricia Steele, who worked as a stripper. And she's been missing since May 1, 2008, exactly 2 years before Shannan went missing.

And svpernin, sorry to keep addressing you, I just know you are familiar with the area...How far down is the crime scene from JB's house? about... half a mile? a mile? 5 miles? 10? Im watching news videos and Im seeing different maps with locations of the bodies. On one map, the bodies weren't even in a row. One was behind the other. I'm getting so confused.

Hey internetgirl, don't apologize, I'll answer any questions you have to the best of my ability but I am not all that familiar with the exact area the bodies were found. I haven't been over on Ocean Parkway since the summer.

I'm thinking there probably was a skull since they said it was not Shannan so quickly (she had metal in her jaw). I don't think DNA testing can happen that quickly. Maybe I'm wrong though.

I think the first 4 bodies were a couple of miles from JB's house (1-3). I'm not sure if the 5th body was closer or further away from his house. I am hearing conflicting reports too. Irresponsible reporters.

I hope everyone is watching NG right now!!

I'm guessing that the killer lives nearby, or has easy access to the spot where the bodies are being found. If he has his own special "dumping grounds" he would want to be able to keep an eye on the area, see who is poking around etc, and may even be watching the police action.

As far as Nancy Grace, you should be able to find the show on youtube...someone usually uploads it each night, I think one of our members named Patty among others.

wow..the photo of that truck there is really freaky. It looks odd shaped too...sort of long.
That light colotred patch in the road is visible on google maps too, so its scary but interesting to match up the area.
And on the ground, looks like a book, or a sign, or something.

Looks like a Hummer. Probably an H2, but could be an original. No, I'm not positive on that, can't see enough detail, but the overall shape looks like one.

Or possibly one of those big Land Rovers.

On thread one there is a posted screen shot of an address that has the same kind of truck looking thing. I think it is a truck with a camper type of thing on it. Could be a hummer I hadnt thought of that.

someone who has yearly went to any of those beach there would likely know the route.
imo, le needs to search all that roadway to the end of fire island and back.

Possible, but there is no public road to Fire Island, nor are there cars allowed on Fire Island. I know it looks like it on the map, but that is a private access road to a section of Fire Island called Kismet. In Kismet, there are a few year-round residents, and those residents can have a car but only with a special permit and with checkin at the gate off of Captree Island (down by the lighthouse)

The beaches are always packed with people during the summer- more locals than tourists, but there certainly are a lot of transients...

Okay, after poking at pictures, I think Soul's right about the truck with camper on it. There aren't enough side windows for it to be a Hummer.

No gender yet, only that remains have been there for some time.

On NG Officer of Marine Bureau was driving by the area and something caught his eye. He went to the area and right behind the brush he discovered remains. Maybe this Officer saw the brush had been flatten in some way like someone had walked through it or dragged a body through it? IDK but thats my guess. The remains were one mile east of where the other 4 bodies were found.

what about an older toyota 4runner from 89' or prior? they had a roll bar and hard top (which you could take off to make a convertible; driver & passenger seats would still be under a roof)
not to mention window similiarity from what i can see anyway..
how old is the pic?
