Were they nude, how did they die, where are their cell phones, pocketbooks?

I wish we knew more.

Its so scary. They are searching there again tomorrow. Im glad they closed down the Ocean Parkway, at least I know my daughter will not take that road to work.

I wonder if he worked repairing the bridges? The Wantagh Pkway has been under construction for years and the bridge to Robert Moses park.

If there was a window of time between when the women left the client and were picked up by the driver, then there could have been someone accosting them within that timeframe, as some of you have suggested.

In that case, was it a person or persons who knew the women's schedules and would hide and stalk them demanding sexual services without paying? I think of Gary Ridgeway (Green River kiler) who said he didn't want to pay for sexual services, so he killed the women.

Maybe these women were able to deter or dodge the perp(s) in prior encounters and just considered it a harassment or inconvenience that was brushed off as nothing. Perhaps the women even knew the name(s).

Or am I way off on this?

I figured that landscape workers used burlap bags for several things--erosion control, wrapping roots, etc. Apparently they use quite a few on a regular basis.

Well then there you go. An oddball, hmmmm. I just didn't see her running into a SK unless she was with the SK. As someone said earlier what are the odds of that happening. The whole thing just doesn't add up. The only thing else that could have happen that she slipped and fell into the water behind someones house.

mahoo, i agree with you on the burlap and "spacing apart" of the victims being very important to this case, as well as the chosen location for the victims.

as someone had mentioned earlier, if these cases are related to ac's 4 girls, then the killer has evolved.

in ac the girls were spaced apart and also were escorts. the heights and weights varied though and they were a lot bigger than these girls. in ac all 4 were spaced apart, laying in inches of water, with all facing east and none of them had shoes on.

the killer evolved in the sense he's been able to perfect his methods. here we see he removes every personal item off the girls (from clothes to pierced earrings) none of their personal affects are found. this makes it harder to identify them.

if they are connected; did the killer start out in ac? did he have prior victims?
why did the victims profiles change drastically from ac to li? (we'll have more info when we find out about the newest 4 found).

the ac girls were taller and heavier than the li girls.
now either the killer isn't the same
the killer is somehow at a disadvantage in some way so that he has to pick smaller girls (disability, sickness, he has someone hired to bring the girls to him now and that person is smaller so he picks smaller girls since theys easier for the picker to control)
or maybe he just prefers smaller girls all along, and has got confidant enough to the point were he goes directly for smaller girls.

out of the li ones we know of, megan waterman is the only one who stands out in physical different (not being under 5' tall or under 105lbs).
he also killed twice, possibly 3 times in 2010 that we know of.

the order would be:
shannon gilbert may 1 2010
megan waterman june 6 2010
amber lynn costello sept 2 2010

i would speculate he has more victims or shannon stressed him out a lot and he felt the urge to kill again a month later

The difference in the women in AC and the women in LI would be that the women in AC were right from the street. No internet. No pimp so to speak. Those women were just out there.

If this is the same guy he surely has evolved and got way more gumption by trolling sites and "dating" women that would require a driver.

I don't know how reliable this site is but it is interesting. It says "Several of the recovered bodies have been identified, and they are from areas all over the East Coast." I don't know if "several" just referred to the first 4 or more than 4 were identified. Forgive me for being clueless, but are they allowed to identify a body and hold back that info from the public because of whatever reason they have?

I'm caught up reading the thread and have a few observations/questions.

Do we know for sure if SG's driver and the Asian man are the same person?

I don't think the killer is able to travel hundreds of miles away to dump the bodies. I think he is local or seasonal resident maybe with a family or a job that prevents him from traveling long distances. MOO

Another observation is that I am not surprised if the bodies were found without clothing. These ladies were escorts and they were there to have sex. I think the killing was done during the act. Then, he removes the jewelry before disposal. Also MOO

Experts say that when a person respond to an ad, he or she leaves an electronic footprint behind. And as officers have scouring the brush, John Jay College crime scene analysis expert Dr. Larry Kobilinsky says it's likely they've been minding Craiglist's weblogs and email records as well.

"The police have some hard evidence to find the killer, provided they can identify the computer, its location and develop some linkage to the suspect," he said.
