'Since February 2018, Dr. Angela Soler has been trying to identify a woman whose skeletal remains were found beneath the George Washington Bridge.'
"She had blunt force trauma to the torso that was consistent with a decent from a height," Soler said. "But, we don't know how, you know, how she might have descended from a height."
In other words, investigators can't figure out whether the woman jumped off the George Washington Bridge or if someone pushed her until they establish her identity.
Soler showed Eyewitness News the clothing the woman was wearing. It's been logged into evidence. They include size 12 Lululemon yoga pants, a black zip-up hoodie, black socks with a pink Under Armour logo and black Sketchers running shoes size 8.5.
She said they believe the woman was Hispanic or Caucasian, between 40 and 60 years old and was 5 foot 2 inches tall.
Soler said she was also wearing a fanny pack, which was holding two paper envelopes of cash containing thousands of dollars.''
She said the woman also had extensive dental work and they showed x-rays of the woman's teeth to some local dentists and no one recognized the work.
"You have an individual who obviously experienced something that was probably pretty horrible and that they're still not identified and back with their family, it's very sad," Soler said.
If you know anything about the identity of the people listed above, call the New York City Medical Examiner's Office at 212-447-2030.''
Thank you so much for this video! Even though I'm familiar with the area because I live like one mile away from it, it's still good to see the spot where she was found because the area changes so rapidly there. You have jogging/walking paths with open, trimmed grass on one side (like where The Little Red Lighthouse is) and dense plant growth on the other, like they show in the video.
Yeah this is the first I've heard about the money. The person said she had "a couple thousand" so at least $2,000 in cash? That's not something I'd have on me if I were to go for a run. But if she needed to withdraw money, I can see her putting off visiting the bank till her jog so she wouldn't have to make multiple trips out."The fanny pack had thousands of dollars inside". Is that the first time this was disclosed? It kind of argues against a robbery. It also seems less likely this was a jogger straying off a path. Who would go for a run with that much cash on them?
Assuming she was coming from the NYC side of the bridge, there are several banks nearby she could've visited. I'm not sure about the NJ (Fort Lee) side.
This is also the first that I've heard officials speculate that she may have fallen (or been pushed) from the bridge. I guess I just imagined that whatever happened took place "on the ground" and not on the bridge directly above.
I think all of this, though, just adds more questions. Regardless of whether someone killed her, or she took her own life, or even if she accidentally fell, what was that money for? Rent? Other bills? No one noticed when she failed to pay for these? The jogging clothes suggest she was from the area on a quick run. Did she live alone? No roommates, neighbors, or family noticed she didn't come back?
