Missing Child
Marc Anthony Brookal. Four-year old last seen by mother's boyfriend (also referred to as
caretaker and
stepfather in some articles) at their apartment in Newburgh, NY (Orange County). No AMBER Alert issued because it did not meet NY state criteria; however a
RILYA Alert was issued. Marc has been entered into the
NCMEC database. Marc is described as approximately 3 feet 5 inches tall and 42 pounds, is light skinned, wears his hair in a medium length sandy-haired afro, has dark brown eyes, and has discolorations on the back of each hand from a previous burn injury
while in Cory's care. Marc was wearing a red long-sleeved shirt, white Nike sneakers and gray sweatpants. Marc was last seen about 1:20 p.m. (some media reports say he was
last seen at 1 p.m.) at his family's apartment in a two-family house on Benkard Avenue. Hudson River only blocks away.

Reward at $26,000. Crime Stoppers has offered as much as $2,500 for information that leads to solving the case and/or finding Marc.The organization is the latest in a series of donors to put up money in hopes of finding the little boy. Arrested Other Charges
Cory Michael Byrd. Christina's live-in boyfriend. On December 18, he was charged with misdemeanor reckless endangerment and for parole violation. He was arraigned in City Court and sent to the Orange County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail or $2,500 bond on the misdemeanor charge, but won't be able to leave the jail while his parole violation proceeding is pending.
Getting ready to visit relative. One media report said he and Marc were getting ready to visit a relative, when Marc walked out of the apartment a couple of minutes ahead of him.

Cory's previous charges (1998 assault). Cory was charged with first-degree assault and first-degree reckless endangerment, felonies; and endangering the welfare of a child, a misdemeanor of his own child. CC suffered a fractured skull, several broken ribs, a broken wrist and a perforated liver.

Byrd's Side. In his plea, Byrd admitted to leaving Christian alone for a hour and a half. He had told police that when he got back to the apartment, the child was choking on a piece of candy, and that he tried to do the Heimlich maneuver to clear the child’s airway. He took the boy to the hospital, where staff notified police.

The chief said as of 8 a.m. Wednesday, the focus of the search is the area along the river. Search Warrant
Police obtained a search warrant and searched the child's house. It is unclear why a search warrant was needed, but a police source tells Eyewitness News that the boy's parents are cooperating with the investigation.
