The body of a 9-year-old girl from Canada who was the subject of an Amber Alert has been found in Ticonderoga, New York, and authorities say there is no indication that an abduction occurred.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office initially led the investigation. “As the case progressed, law enforcement identified inconsistencies in the father’s account of events and the timeline he provided,” New York State Police said. A press briefing is scheduled for Monday.

"Due to jurisdictional considerations, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office has turned the investigation over to the New York State Police," the agency said in a statement. "At this time, there is no indication that an abduction occurred, and there is no threat to the public."

At 4:18 p.m., state police announced that the WCSO had canceled the Amber Alert for Melina. Both the father and daughter are Canadian residents, per state police

The investigation is ongoing. A media event is anticipated on July 21, 2025.

In his initial report, Frattolin told police his daughter was last seen around 9:40 p.m. near the Lake George Village area. Law enforcement has not said whether Luciano Frattolin faces any charges at this time.
This is the first part of his story I don't believe because who would allow their 9 year old daughter wander off at 9:40 PM when it dark and in an area the child would have been too scared to wander off at night. The other part that gets me is the white van,a white van is commonly used in true crimes shows and/or true crime movies. I think he used the white van as a quick response when asked about what happened.

Thank you-I was wondering the same about the description of the child as “indian”.
I don’t get the Indian reference tbh
Her dad is mixed Ethiopian/Italian and her other surname is”Galanis” which is Greek

Following this as a Montrealer who knows the area well and am saddened at this development

The part that made me go hmmm was last seen near an off ramp. How does a child go missing in a white van at an off ramp short of a flat tire on the parent vehicle?

OMG, PLEASE don't let this be another murderous father or family member😕

This idiot using the "white van" cliche shows that he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I'm sure he made countless mistakes.
Oh yes, the infamous "white van".

Hey. Pardon me going all conspiracy theorist, but this is about the recent murder case of poor 9-year-old Melina frattolin.
Do not take anything i say as actual evidence as obviously I am not a detective, and this isn't my place to actually claim what's true or untrue, this is simply me voicing how I feel about the situation and what I believe to have happened. If there's anything I got wrong please LMK.
State Police Investigate Death of Missing Child

Alot of things led me to believe the dad did it. So first there's the inconsistencies. First, The times. 7:40 and then 9:40, there's a 2 hour difference between those times how do you mess that up?
As well as his LinkedIn profile kinda makes me feel weird. Like read his paragraph about himself you gotta scroll down About us - Gambella Coffee
As well as the fact at first they thought there was an abduction but then ruled it out, which methinks he was faking an abduction to cover it up And the fact at first for the first hours there was just a blurry 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 photo of her, I feel like he could have used a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 photo so that maybe they wouldn't find out the body was hers but that's probably me being dramatic,I understand why it took so long to get the alert out though, it was likely because cops were searching and didn't want the ,"Abductor" to see that he and the girl were being searched for and just quickly snuff her then and there, but I don't actually think there was an abduction at all tbh. And the white van thing- i think he only went with that for the sole purpose of white vans being a classic kidnapping strategy in media. That part was what immediately made me sus though before it even got out that she had died I feel so bad for the poor baby girl though. May she rest in peace, nobody deserves that at all, let alone someone so young with their whole life ahead of them :(
Some additional theories-
7:40 and 9:40. Part of me believes he either decided he wanted to kill her at 7:40 and didn't do it until 9:40, or he killed her at 7:40 and didn't make his mind up to call until 9:40.
Another thing is even though he was the one who called, it definitely makes me think that he only called to try and remove the blame on himself so they wouldn't figure him out. if he calls they're more likely to think he's not a suspect because he's obviously worried and wants to look out for his daughter so that if/when he killed her he would be alleviated of the blame, So he'd be less likely to be found out because he made them think he was worried, even though it was him who did it
I also think the reason it took so long to put out the alert is that they suspected it was the father from the get-go, and only put stuff out hours later because they needed time to assess the information and weigh out everything.
I know it's not good to jump to conclusions but tons of signs point to the dad
There's obviously gotta be like. That whole meeting thing, time to assess, more evidence collection, tests ran etc.
Additionally, if he said a white van heading southbound they'd be looking for her in a white van heading, you guessed it, south. so if she (either alive or dead) was in his car he could be on the road going a different direction and they'd think nothing of it because they'd be busy looking for a Southbound white van. If you saw the 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 thing go down, such as seeing the car and direction, not only could you try and grab a licence plate or a description of the driver, but also you could maybe, I dunno, 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 try to step in? Get her back?
looking at statistics it's almost always either a non-custodial parent or someone else known to the victim. Which just serves as another pointer right in the dad's direction So many cases before were known by the victim, like look at Jamie bolon. Kevin underwood was her stepfather and he killed her and planned to 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 eat her if the cops hadn't come, or another one is Alyssa butamante who killed her neighbor, Elizabeth olten, because she was an "easy target" BECAUSE Elizabeth knew and trusted alyssa.
What do all 3 of these cases have in common? An adult or older child kills a young child they know BECAUSE they trust and look up to the killer because they're young kids and don't know much better. Whether consciously or unconsciously, it's like a grooming sort of dynamic. They use the fact these young kids look up to them and see them as a safe space to be to kill these poor children who were so oblivious to the fact that this pers
on was unsafe.

So odd. No mention of her mother or siblings. I went to his website,

For a website supposedly about coffee, he sells only 2 items that coffee. "Picked by women"? Is that supposed to be a selling point? Odd.

Tragic. I wonder if she shows other signs of abuse?

Yes, it's a selling point - it's extremely difficult for women to get employment and money in some parts of the world where coffee is grown so creating jobs and opportunities for women is something some people choose to support.

The bio is an extremely normal corporate bio. I don't get weird vibes from the dad or the website. Corporate bios don't typically reference spouses or children.

Growing and roasting coffee is a long and involved process that can take years to cultivate. It makes sense there would be only two products, it's a small business, not Starbucks.

MOO.

I agree about the coffee. But his bio does talk about Melina at length. No other family members are mentioned, though, and articles also make it sound like it was just the two of them.

My guess is Luciano is a family annihilator and he killed Melina to "save" her from this world with the delusional thinking that nobody can raise Melina in this world better than him.

The Police Benevolent Association of New York State also issued a statement, saying in part:
"Our PBA-member New York State Forest Rangers coordinated the search for Melina. During this process, a NYSDEC Environmental Conservation Officer (ECO), also a PBA member, discovered the girl’s body while participating in a grid search in the Ticonderoga area.

"The PBA of New York State sends our deepest condolences to the family of Melina Galanis Frattolin. Our thoughts are also with our member Forest Rangers and ECO’s dealing with the grief of this horrific tragedy."

Heartbreaking.

I wonder what led LE to search nearly an hour away from where the father claimed she was last seen. Could they have phone records already? MOO

This was nowhere near where she was allegedly abducted. Either he led them to her directly, or his phone did.

I just posted after you, but that's a possibility. Phone records tend to take time, but a phone download does not. It can also contain specific GPS data that is even better than what phone records can tell them.

So if it's based on his phone I think it's a download. The fact that we haven't heard about an arrest yet makes me think he might have started talking, which opens the door to him telling law enforcement where to look.

I'm kind of leaning more towards him talking right now.

I wonder if this could have been an act of rage. And that he is very remorseful right now.

Yeah, I strongly believe that’s the case. Probably a pattern of abuse that finally went too far, and then a panicked coverup that quickly collapsed.

I’m like 80% he’s playing ball.

This is a blurb from his own website, which I noticed.

"On a lighter note, Melina has also taught Luciano to let go of his rigid tendencies to keep everything in “perfect order”—his love for Melina’s messy art projects and chaotic ensemble of toys supersedes his love for a meticulously spotless home.".

That is an interesting note. He said right in his bio that he likes "perfect order". And his daughter, Melina, is "messy" and "chaotic". And he loves a "meticulously spotless home".

Interesting. I would never write something like that about myself or my kids. I just found that entire passage strange.

Did Melina do something that enraged Mr. "Spotless"? Spill a Coke in the car?
