Since I am on Holiday & will be traveling thru Monday - I shall go ahead & post this now.

Nellis' trial was supposed to start today - but I see on the court site - he took a plea deal - don't know what that is about - have not had time to look it up - but he now has a sentencing hearing.

Monday, Nov. 24th:
*Sentencing Hearing (@ 1:30pm ET) - NY – Michaela MacVilla (21) (last seen Sept. 25, 2018 heading home right after her shift at Stewart's shop in the Village of St. Johnsville; found Oct. 2, 2018 shot in the head at a close range, dragged into the underbrush with her pants pulled down in Oppenheim) – *Daniel A. Nellis, Sr. (45/now 52) arrested (9/30/18), indicted, charged & arraigned (11/15/18) with 2nd degree intentional murder, 1st degree criminal possession of a weapon & 2 counts of 3rd degree criminal possession of a weapon. Plead not guilty. Held without bond. Fulton County
According to the investigation conducted, on September 25, 2018, at 1am MacVilla is at Daniel A Nellis Sr. & left the place the following day around 12 noon as caught in the surveillance camera. It was seen that the car of Nellis’ was going to the location where the dead body of MacVilla was found. As evidence shows, MacVilla’s Fitbit showed that her heartbeat was spiking around 12:20pm before she lost her heartbeat.
Trial started 6/5/19 & ended 6/19/19. 12 jurors & 2 alternates. Jury deliberated about 8 hours & verdict GUILTY of 2nd degree murder. Sentenced 8/22/19 to 40 years to life. Conviction was overturned on 6/8/23.
Trial was set to begin on 9/8/25 was cancelled as Nellis plead guilty on 8/8/25.

11/22/24 Update: The conviction was overturned on 6/8/23. Next hearing on 1/6/25 @ 9:30am. 1/6/25 Update: Trial has been set to begin on 9/8/25 @ 9am.
7/17/25 update: Status conference hearing held with Judge Michael W. Smrtic presiding. Docket updates: Motion to dismiss. Protective Order. Motion disposed-Granted. Reversed decision by Judge Smrtic. Next jury trial on 9/8/25 @ 9am.
8/8/25 Update: Plea hearing with Judge Michael W. Smrtice presiding. Reports/Investigation Ordered, adjourned, Reduced to - Criminal, Plead Guilty, Covered by, Arraigned, Bail: Remanded Without Bail. Sentencing hearing on 11/24/25 @ 1:30pm.

Hi. I’m trying to explain a little about what psychosis feels like in my head. I have a friend who just doesn’t get it. I want her to understand me. This is what I’ve thrown together so far. Can you please take a look and see if you think any of this will make sense to a “normal” person? Do you have any suggestions? We’re good friends so this is important. I don’t want to give her an explanation that distances her further from understanding. Thank you so much.

My triggering events are usually a symptom of a greater causation. The mania and the voices help to create a cycling storyline within my mind. Everything that happens from this point on is part of my storyline. My mind makes it fit. Some of it is true. Some of it is not. Because. I’m losing touch with reality. I think I know what is real because my mind keeps telling them so. Once questioning reality, a fear sets in, escalating my episode. My psychotic mind doesn’t understand these conflicting emotions emitting turmoil within. My mind protects itself by believing everything is real. I guess you could call it believing my own lies…

Unfortunately I am not finding anything in the court site or goog searching on his sentence. Maybe someone in New York or in the U.S. can find something. I am just coming up with 2023 articles.
