Handyman Arrested in Case of NYC Mom Found Stabbed 58 Times in Duffel Bag: Sources – NBC New York
<snipped & BBM>
The law enforcement sources identified the suspect only as the "handyman" and say he lives near the victim, 51-year-old Orsolya Gaal. He allegedly showed up at her house and the two argued, though it wasn't clear what the fight was about. the handyman then allegedly murdered her in her own basement, the sources said.

Additional information is expected at a news conference later Thursday, the sources said. The case has mystified investigators and those who knew Gaal for nearly a week.

Maybe it's just me but I'm having a really hard time wrapping my head around the fact whomever did this would change his boots AND be able to find a spare pair hanging around that just so happened to fit. How... convenient. Alternatively, to bring a spare pair?? That certainly isn't premeditated and not much about this case feels very premeditated IMHO.

So, that makes me think it's more likely option 1 above because I can't think of a 3rd option. I'd love to hear if anyone can come up with something else! But the fact that the person got so lucky to both find a spare pair AND have them fit? Something is very, very odd here.

Maybe they live nearby and went for the change of shoes.

I’ve been following since the start, right alongside so many of you, and I’ve read every comment in these two threads. Like most of you… I thought we were hours away from an arrest(s) Monday night! I’m hopeful still. Thank you everyone for pointing out things I’d never think of + being so respectful in discussing this case.

Most of what I could say has been said in some form within these threads already. FWIT, I actually did not think the perp looked “small,” “child-like,” or like a female when first released, but I know many others did. Since Monday afternoon, I’ve been leaning towards perp being a grown male, close to victim but not family, unplanned fit of rage, likely entered and waited for awhile for OG to arrive home, was heading for the woods, dropped the bag when spooked by the bus or something else, etc. All that’s been said. I also didn’t get very much out of the video the first few times I watched. It’s horrific to watch, but that’s all I could take away from it with any certainty.

BUT, I am a middle school teacher. I just watched the version of the footage that someone posted a few pages back (somehow it’s clearer), and this perp WALKS IN A WAY THAT ONLY 7th and 8th GRADE BOYS WALK. I can’t even explain what that “way” is, but I’ve watched 10 times in the last 20 min, and I’m suddenly convinced it’s a young teen. I see that walk daily, and I didn’t even realize a “middle school boy walk” existed til a moment ago. I’m shocked and convinced. MOO: No way it’s a grown man.

It could have very well been a friend of one of the sons, or even someone HK or OG had working for them in some capacity. If a worker, perhaps they were there to get something else, maybe something on the computers, and they didn’t think anyone would be home. I think it’s more likely, though, that it’s a teen with a motive that we won’t understand (even if it does come out), and a teen that had no “affair” or otherwise inappropriate relationship with OG whatsoever. I know many people don’t take shoes off at a front door, but you'd think any sort of “inappropriate” or lover type situation would mean two people, shoes off, some level of comfort maybe. If his were covered in blood, then I assume they were on during the stabbing. If he had planned it to kill OG, perhaps he’d have taken his shoes off and the. been able to take them along with him afterwards. I truly don’t think it was a mastermind plan to leave those behind to frame someone… I think this was a young kid that (forgive my use of “best” here) was doing the best he could to not go completely insane with the realization of what he just did. I imagine it was a situation where he was going back and forth between almost enjoying it and completely freaking out/losing touch with reality… he was trying to clean and get rid of evidence… maybe contact help… idk… but eventually, he was walking out the door with full hands and a duffel bag…. He simply forgot the boots. Or he’s too dumb to realize they’ll be his demise.

one thing I’be wondered… if the text is sent AFTER bag is left on the ground, yet LE have OG’s phone, then perp had to either 1) go back to house, 2) have an accomplice still at the house, or 3) have access to messages from an alternate device (perhaps a Mac or another apple device). Maybe that’s what is in his left hand.

Oh, and whoever mentioned it before… I 100% agree that he has a backpack on. To me that’s clear to see.

I came here solely because I was so shocked at the “middle school boy walk” I could so clearly see in the footage. Sorry for typing a novel!

Wow, I was wrong. So so happy they have someone. That family needs this. The least they could get right now.

Is it safe to share his fb?

I am so glad they have arrested the person who killed her. Her poor family and sons. So sad.

Wow, so it was the handyman! Seems like at least some of those "leaks" proved to be correct. Can't wait for the presser. I want to see the monster that did this. I didn't think this should take long to figure out, but still very relieved they have him in custody! JMO

The Handyman…..

He lived close to her? That would explain why there was no car. He walked there.

Might have had his own key or had the entry code.

Would have known the habits of family and had intimate knowledge of the house. Did he work in the house on Friday?

He knew the husband. Did he work for the family at their former address?

Maybe the rumours were true.

Now….why did he do it?
