Just the media? The media is giving people what they want. Just look at the number of folks who have commented on or followed this thread.
true they are more the symptom than the cause. I really miss the days when we didn't have instanews. Back when things were vetted and sourced multiple ways before publication.

MOD REMINDER: VICTIM FRIENDLY

Websleuths is a victim friendly forum. Attacking or bashing a victim is not allowed. Discussing known victim behavior, good or bad is fine, but do so in a civil and constructive way, and only when such behavior is known to be relevant to the case.

The "victim friendly" rule extends to family members of victims and suspects. Sleuthing family members, friends, or others who have not been officially designated by law enforcement or in mainstream media as a Person of Interest or suspect is not allowed (i.e. Sleuthing out this type of information, and publicly posting their personal information, including names, addresses, and background data -- even if it is public is not allowed and such posts will be removed, along with any posts that encourage such sleuthing).

This does not mean, however, that statements made by family members and other third parties cannot come into discussion as the facts of the case are reported in the media. Members may reasonably discuss what is said in MSM by them or about them, but do not make random accusations, insinuations, suggest their involvement, trash, bash or attack them, or speculate negatively about them.

Please think before you post. Time-outs and thread bans will be issued if necessary.

I personally do not follow SM and any media that is quoted as " unnamed source" I do not consider as fact.

I truly hope you're right.

Couldn't agree more with you more, Curiouser_ and CueCard.

and also agreeing with the post, by someone, awhile back, that NYPD are waiting for lab results.

It is likely they are looking for .......DNA matches (..shudder..) in drains. Around the whole house.

(So many questions: Is there a shower in the basement? Did someone shower upstairs, after the crime? Or, issues, such as: if there really was someone 'put in jail' years ago, by someone in this family, is that person's DNA appearing in the house? Anywhere?
I believe all convicted persons' DNA is on file in NY State, and in surrounding states' files ??)

At this point, NYPD might be just dotting their i's. Crossing their t's. Putting their ducks in a row.

NYPD is very very thorough.

(This is a very sad, compelling case. I'm feeling awful for this lovely lady. And the extended family.)

The POI could have been a mutual friend of both husband and victim. No signs of break-in if he had a key, maybe to make private meetings with her easier.

"Your wife sent me to jail years ago..."
SBM
'Your wife sent me to jail some years ago. I'm back': Killer's chilling text to Queens mom's husband after he murdered her in basement of their $2m home and stuffed her body in a duffel bag...

How many people did she send to jail? If this is truly a text that her husband received, how are they not more clear on who this may be?

Because it is part of an active investigation.

Perhaps they’ve checked the one person that was sent to jail, and it’s obvious that, whatever that person did in the past, he or she is an innocent victim in this case, and deserves to have his or her name shielded.

On the other hand, maybe they’re gathering the last bit of evidence needed before arresting this person. Time will tell.

My speculations only.

The only reason I think it's fair and on topic here to discuss how streets are referred to in NYC is in trying to decipher the meaning of the text.

Queens is different than the other boroughs. In the city, which is what New Yorkers call Manhattan, lower Manhattan is from Colonial times and has its own geography and place names (Wall St, Water St, Maiden Lane etc). Above that is mainly a grid. If you were going to meet someone in midtown, say Lexington Ave and E. 34th St., you'd say "Lex and 34th."

But even though I've lived in NYC all my life, I get lost in Queens. My aunt and uncle used to live on 75th Ave. in Queens, but there's also a 75th St. and a 75th Road, and not always near each other, and before GPS I was always lost. You have to be specific in Queens because the numbered streets often have street, avenue and road. But Austin St. was near their home and it was always called Austin Street.

What I find odd about the text is the part that says "near Austin St. in Forest Hills." Even though you have to be specific in Queens, Austin St. already means Forest Hills. That sounds to me like someone who was in her life long ago, and trying to jog her husband's memory.

If OG was indeed having an affair, or had had one in the past, I have to say I feel so terrible for her husband. Whether or not she was murdered by the affair guy, that has to be a gut punch for the husband with no way to ask her about it. Unless it's old news and he forgave her.

As far as sleeping through what would be screaming and struggling, in my family we are two halves. Half of us, including me, will wake up if a feather drifts a mile away. The other half doesn't wake up even with the type of alarm clock that shakes the bed and makes a piercing noise. A 13-year old several stories above the basement, probably listening to music or playing a video game, I can absolutely understand him not hearing anything.

Just to comment on things that have been mentioned, someone thought the murderer may have wanted the dog, but I didn't see any sign of a dog in the video. And as for OG being Hungarian and Putin got her somehow, unless she was some high-level spy who went rogue, she wouldn't be on his radar. There are a lot of Russians, Ukrainians, Georgians and others around here, who left their countries years ago. I cannot see this at all.

The person in the video was walking very briskly, which made me think he's young. Not necessarily a teenager. I could see a scenario though where a friend of either of the sons was maybe banned from their home, a bad influence or something, and that person might have taken revenge.

Who knows. We will know when we are told.

An irredeemable tragedy all around.

Murder of this nature usually involves sex, drugs or money. I'm going with angry past or present love interest. :(

Or the text is malarky. JMO

I guess I'm just naive, and maybe none of that should have been reported in the press, if that's the case.

I'm going with text=malarky.

Someone attempting to point LE in a specific (false) direction. Pretty typical of murdering psychos.

Yeah, I get it, but at the very least, someone knew that much about her...

HOW was she involved in sending someone to jail? Did she testify against this person? Rat on them?

  • #956
The thing I am curious is the access to her phone and unlocking it, if it has a passcode and not fingerprint ID.

  • #957
Yeah, I get it, but at the very least, someone knew that much about her...

It might not even be true. She might have never sent anyone to jail and the killer tried to come up with an alternate suspect in the spur of the moment. The "you sent me to jail and now I'm getting revenge" narrative sounds straight out of Law and Order, it may or may not have any basis in reality.

  • #958
What if the text about her sending the killer “to jail” is a metaphor to someone feeling imprisoned because she chose her husband over him?

  • #959
HOW was she involved in sending someone to jail? Did she testify against this person? Rat on them?

Exactly, I'm not insinuating that just because of the text that it had to be said person, but instead, someone who knew about it at all...I haven't been able to find anywhere that proves this was common knowledge, so that was more of what I was getting at...

I am not sure if this is legit info or just speculation. I have not seen any solid MSM link unless someone has one.
