Also it is not clear if the woman reported missing was found dead or alive in the cellar.
But I guess our JD is a similar case, if not indeed the same... she does not appear to have been an intruder from the outside and had recent medical care. I guess she was mentally ill or had dementia or alzheimers and wandered off unnoticed until she locked herself in the cellar by mistake.

I def think she was a patient from the facility. But it’s so weird they did not have a missing report or name on this woman.

She may have been there for years... and the care home frequently changed ownership and it is possible records were not kept or transferred properly from one owner and staff to the other. Probably it also had a high fluctuation of staff, which is symptomatic for places where the leadership is bad or non existent.

Nursing homes sadly were cash cows and speculation objects for many owners and since the state released their responsibility from rotten state mental hospitals to rotten private care homes and only paid minimal money, nobody really cared about quality anyway. On the expense of the residents health a d safety.

Omg yes it was horribly run and changing staff and owners all the time. All articles i have read about this place are not positive.

It’s heartbreaking for all the poor patients.

It was (and sadly is) not the only place like that, but probably the biggest and worst of them all.

Inadequate care and neglect is an issue in those facilities worldwide... they just closed a private nursing home in south Germany because residents were filthy, starving and dehydrated.
When caring for humans becomes a business...

Yes it’s very sad because like you said it’s NOT the only place. There have been places like this for decades running And treating their patients horribly . Iam sure there are still places today doing the same right now as I type this.

Bumping for the lady in the basement

@madamx , go ahead & suggest Ms. Abbass! I agree completely, the institutionalized-in-New-York part is compelling.

Poor lady, whoever she is. Broken arm? No orthopedic department called when she wasn't brought in to have the cast taken off?

Whether she was assigned to the 'facility,' a worker, whatever, she deserves better than this.
