So far, a pathologist has been unable to to say how 4-month-old Rayen Puleski died. More tests are being done.

It doesn't bring Rayen to life again, but I truly hope that they will find out what caused his death. And that the person responsible will be punished. Drugs are no excuse IMO.

Cripes! Mom was too passed out from heroin to take care of her baby but she was able to post on FB? Her great aunt offered to help but Heaven replied "If you can't give me money, then you can't help."

Craig Smith, a spokesman for the state Office of Children and Family Services, in the prepared statement said "Blahblahblahblah." Well, that's what I heard. This is what he actually said:

"Transfers are evaluated based on the family’s and child’s service needs and the overall best interest of the family,” said Craig Smith, a spokesman for the state Office of Children and Family Services, in the prepared statement. The two LDSS [local departments of social services] collaborate to facilitate the smooth transfer of information from the old LDSS to the new LDSS. Once the case is transferred, the old LDSS no longer has primary responsibility for the case but may maintain a supportive role if a significant family member still lives in that district."

You can't help the mother who doesn't want help, just money. So take the baby away and put it somewhere safe until the mother is ready to be helped.

In a case like this IMO there is no "overall best interest of the family" other than removing the children. I get that there are more children in need than foster families available but at least in this case there may have been family members willing to help.

What sucks is that Rayen's mother couldn't care for him but didn't want anyone else to have him either. We see that over and over in cases here and most of the time time the child pays for that selfishness with their life.

The article is a must read IMO. I have zero sympathy for the mother no matter how hard it is to stop using heroin. She had options for her baby but she put herself first.

Rayen never had a chance to survive staying with his mother. I am no rocket scientist(and often outright stupid) , but even I could have predicted this outcome given those circumstances

she had that baby at the motel because she was using while pregnant. she didn't want the baby tested and taken away. I honestly don't think she was ever clean in this kids life for more than a week.

Father of missing Schenectady infant released on bond

Rayen Hussein, the father of missing Schenectady 4-month old Rayen Puleski, has been released from prison on bond -- facing drug charges unrelated to the disappearance of his son.

A grand jury has voted to indict Heaven Puleski Tuesday on felony charges related to the death of her 4-month-old son, Rayen Puleski, according to information revealed Wednesday in City Court.

Judge Mark Caruso informed Puleski of the implications of the indictment, mainly that the case will be transferred to county court, and that she will continue to be held on $20,000 bail.

The article isn't clear on exactly what charges are on the indictment. Her previous charges were one count each of tampering with physical evidence and concealment of a human corpse and misdemeanor child endangerment.

Assistant District Attorney Christina Tremante-Pelham says the allegations involved violent shaking and throwing, along with failure to seek any kind of assistance or medical attention and then her disposal and concealment of the body.

Puleski was indicted on six charges. The accusations include murder in the second degree, manslaughter in the first degree, manslaughter in the second degree, concealment of a human corpse, tampering with physical evidence and endangering the welfare of a child.

The DA’s office says it does have all of the medical reports at this time, but says they can’t reveal much, as the investigation is still ongoing.

Next court date is January 7.
