SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) — A 38-year-old upstate New York woman has admitted killing her infant son before hiding his body behind her residence.

Heaven Puleski pleaded guilty Thursday in Schenectady County Court to first-degree manslaughter with a promised sentence of 15 years in state prison. She was originally charged with second-degree murder, which carries a maximum penalty of 25 years to life in prison.

15 years. SMDH. The DA pointed out that she'll be beyond child-bearing years by the time she gets out. Um, okay. Does he guarantee she'll serve all 15 years?

How is shooting up heroin and falling asleep with Rayen, resulting in accidentally suffocating him not considered to be Murder in the Second Degree (S 125.25)?

What she did was not just reckless, she clearly engaged in behavior that a reasonable person would consider endangerment to a 4 month old infant. Not that I believe her.

Once again a caretaker escapes proper punishment because they were able to keep their precious child's body concealed long enough to obliterate the COD. The DA took the easy road out. Let's make him watch a few seasons of Law and Order as continuing ed.

We're seeing this over and over in cases. It's like a blueprint for every abuser in how to avoid LWOP. Let the baby rot long enough and bring on the plea deal. Bah.

They had a witness that saw her shaking him, but they let her plea deal??? And how does anyone stand there and watch a precious baby being abused and not do anything. Sick evil people. I live a couple blocks where this precious angel's body was discovered, makes me sick to think she threw him out like garbage and is only getting 15 years.
