There's a lighthouse on the bluff overlooking the Pelican's Nest restaurant, the river and the lake. And that lighthouse has a "weatherbug" camera in it that takes time lapse photos. Here's a link to the lighthouse photos for this evening:

https://www.weatherbug.com/weather-camera/?cam=RCGLH

This camera has an archive of photos...one per hour. So, this article shows photos taken of the parking lot at 10 am, 11 am, noon, 1 pm and 2 pm. In the photos there's a white SUV in the parking lot that appears to be the one in question. And, in the 10 am shot, a couple appear to be standing by the car. So, if this was the Ross vehicle, it was parked in the parking lot for hours before it went into the river.

Great information, thank you.

I’m not sure why they would spend three+ hours in the parking lot. Can they tell whether they were in the car (or if the car was running) for the photos where they aren’t visible standing outside? Honestly, the only thing I can think is that they were deciding what to do and that the location had some meaning to them that their son didn’t know about. My thoughts only.

I don’t know how many would choose this as their end. If I were clear-minded and considering this, I would at least want to have my life companion be sedated (and myself!). Still so much mystery.

I wonder if they had any medications on them that might have helped put them unconscious before doing this- sleeping pills, pain killers, etc? I can't imagine anyone wanting to do it this way, drowning and struggling for air while being conscious. Then again, maybe they just did it without thinking it through.

Anyhow, may they rest in peace. My condolences to their family and friends. My heart goes out to them, this has to be an agonizing time for them, knowing they made such a decision without a warning or note at least.

Yes. They're saying a phone call was made about 3 that pinged in the area. The article says no car seen after 2. But they only have archives of 1 photo per hour on the hour. So the only way that makes sense is if she made the call a few minutes before 3 and then they went into the water before the 3pm photo.

On a live report yesterday LE said they had 4 people report seeing that car in that area on that day with "blustery" tag. So that's almost surely their car in photo.

In the photos a white pickup truck is parked blocking the entrance to the Pelicans Nest boat ramp. This means they must have gone into the river at the next ramp further south. Which means their car floated or at least was carried by current some distance down river before sinking in front of Pelicans Nest and getting stuck in the mud.

In the photo taken at 10 am it appears Robert is standing on drivers side of car and Mary sort of leaning on hood on passenger side.

I’m not sure if I’m strong enough to go to the site and look at the photo. It breaks my heart just thinking about what might have been going through their minds and what might have been said.

If Mr. and Mrs. Ross mutually agreed to go into the water together, I respect their decision. I just hope that it wasn’t painful, and that the family will somehow find peace.

Such kind thoughts. IMO, the incident was either a mutual decision or an accident. No evidence, just my thoughts.

The freezing water would likely have numbed their senses quickly.

My heartfelt condolences to the family.
