Found Safe NY - Samantha "Denise" Primus 47, Deaf, Mute, Devel Delayed, STILL MISSING, was found but hosp released bef family arrived, Queens, 24 Dec 2022

Unbelievable that a hospital could not adequately assess a person brought in by first responders....

Mixed feelings about a lawyer but the hospital's policy/procedure needs review & likely an employee or two in some trouble.

First Do No Harm, right?

A physician, iirc @BeginnerSleuther

Nurses @meanmaryjean @LaborDayRN @nursebe

Yes. The problem is that hospitals are often inundated with homeless individuals seeking warmth in the winter. They can't admit them all because if they do, they run out of beds for people who have medical issues. It's very, very hard emotionally, to send homeless people out with a list of shelters, but in most cases, that's unfortunately what has to be done.

BUT in this case, this woman was very vulnerable and I just don't understand the hospital's thinking here. You send out healthy people who have no handicap, people who can navigate the system, and even then, you should offer a way for them to get to the shelter. You don't send out someone who obviously was at huge risk because of how vulnerable she was to anyone who wanted to victimize her. I just don't get what they were thinking.

Samantha Denise Primus was spotted Saturday on the 1 train and was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Primus normally lives with her mother and doesn't go anywhere without a family member. According to family members, Primus, who is deaf, mute, and has limited sign language abilities, was staying with her sister and her family for a few days when Primus walked out of the home shortly before Christmas. Her other sister, Ghislaine, was part of the search team that found her.
