I have something that’s longer form that I’m working on for another medium. And don’t have access to that right now. But essentially…
- In the no Jay-Z initial filing the victim said that the driver said he would pick her up at 9:30pm.
- In the subsequent Jay-Z amended filing it turned into “after the VMAs”. So she either forgot (which is not uncommon for victims) or they realized that 9:30pm would be problematic for their case.
- the VMAs were live and ran until 11:10pm ET that night. Last just over 3 hours.
- if you watch a recording of the original broadcast with commercials still included (which is still widely available on YouTube). You’ll see a shot of JLO and Diddy still present with about 30 min left of the show. Which puts us at 10:30pm
- celebrities like Aaliyah and Dr Dre and Kid Rock were inside mingling after the show ended and were interviewed live while exiting by Kurt Loder leaving the venue. Dr Dre (the host of the 2nd after party) being the final one 30 minutes after the show. It’s not clear who was still left inside.
- so let’s say the victim was allowed to stay and watch the show outside in the seated area (where people lined up for the entire day to do) as stated in her amended filing. The show ends at 11.
- the driver said he would have to drive Diddy and JLO to the after part and then come back and get her. In midtown Manhattan….during the VMAs…. I know it’s hard for a lot of people to imagine what this traffic would look like. But assuming JLO and Diddy left at 11 and didn’t mingle like other celebrities. The driver is fighting traffic to the after party and back.
- I have the math and sourcing on the above. But not handy so I’ll skip the time estimation.
- so the victim said she waited awhile for the driver. Which would make sense considering he had to fight traffic there and back to pick her up. And then she was off to the “after party”. She said it took about 20 min and was at a white mansion with a U driveway.
- I’d love for someone to find me a white mansion 20 minutes from midtown within the NY state lines. There are many in NJ, and assuming that there’s 0 traffic of course (which never happens) and we stretch that 20 min to 30 min.
- since the suit was filed in NY. It can’t be NJ. So again, this is a real problem. I could go deeper into this but I don’t have the sourcing with me.
- and finally we get to the single biggest issue: the after party’s were at nightclubs. JLO and Diddy/Daddy/whatever were photographed first at a nightclub for N’syncs party and then again in the infamous photos of them at the other NY nightclub for Dr Dre and Eminem’s party. Jay-z was also at the 2nd club.
- there was no bed at this club. Nothing that would be even confused for a living room. And if you look at pictures, reviews, articles there are no back rooms with beds. I have more detailed info but the sourcing is not handy.
- notable that Jay-z and Beyoncé were not an item at the time. She was still with her high school bf. Her mom was her date to the VMAs and she was never pictured at the club.
- so did this driver pick the victim before the first club? After the first club and before the second club? This starts to present a serious time problem. Even for the most generous of traffic estimations for one of the busiest square miles on the planet.
- NY clubs close at 4am. So if we assume that they left at 4am that now puts this mansion party in the 5am’ish time slot. Which couldn’t be further away from her 9:30pm initially estimation.
I haven’t been able to get the metadata of the images of jlo and Diddy fighting (I’m sure Jay-Zs attorney will) at that second after party yet. So we don’t know what time they left. But let’s assume that they managed to hit 2 parties and managed to get out of there the last club party around 1am. Which would be extremely generous to the victims timeline when you consider traffic. ( I have reports I can share later that can maybe give us a hint of where they went so u won’t talk about it now).
- even this This timeline for the driver to bring JLO and Diddy home or even to go straight to pick up the victim puts us at at least 1:30am. which is far and away from 9:30pm and “after the VMA”
- did the other celebrities like Jay-Z head to the mystery mansion and leave the club early too?
- so in order for things to lineup in the victims timeline we have to make a bunch of adjustments to the actual verifiable events of that night. And these go beyond just misremembering IMO.
for her timeline to move from 9:30pm (before the VMAs) to “after the VMAs” is problematic to begin with since she remembers watching it there. But the fact that after the VMAs JLO and Diddy (with the latter being foundational to this story) went to two nightclub “after parties” that do no resemble a white mansion with a u driveway and do not having a living room and bedroom is again, problematic.
And if we are to stretch it again and assume that she actually meant that the driver was going to meet her for the after party at this mystery mansion 20 min away from Radio City Music Hall….(this contradicts everything in the filing, btw)
They are now asking us to believe that a 13 year old with no cell phone (this is 2000, and she had a clerk make a call for her in her reaccounting) managed to hang out and wait until around 1am or 2am with the most generous of assumptions and and 4am at the worst…in MIDTOWN where law enforcement is ever present to keep that area clean from solicitation of all kinds…for the driver to pick her up. Did she hang around midtown for 4 to 5 hours? Did she stand in the same spot for 4 or 5 hours?

I’m sorry. But I fully believe most of the Diddy lawsuits and think he’s a monster IMO. Including most that I’ve read from the 90s. But this one has way too many inconsistencies. The amended areas of the filing since Jay-Zs name was added are suspect, even if recollection was refreshed.
I have more that I’ll share when I’m back at my office. But those are the major points.
If I can put this together using publicly available information there’s no way Jay-Z’s lawyer hasn’t with the resources and information they have access to.
And while the NFL has been known to make awful decisions when it comes to player code of conduct off the field. They do take their partnerships extremely seriously. And with the type of investigators they employ (ex intelligence, FBI, etc) Roger Goodall's full throated endorsement and proclamation and triple down on Jay-Z’s partnership with no equivocation or qualification should tell people all they needed to know.
