I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that these 2 men laid in a 24" steam pipe and managed to cut a hole to escape from the inside of the pipe...Where did the piece of pipe go that was cut out? How long did they lay there and work? It makes no sense. How did they know where to cut the escape hole? I am scratching my head...

Ive been thinking the same thing.

JMO
To me, I think some of the cuts were done in reverse. Like beginning with the cell openings.

I mentioned the other day the cut followed the frame perfectly. The only way I can see that is if someone cut from the inside of the wall. So that means a person was already inside the wall cutting an opening to the cells.

Could be the same with the pipe. Cut from outside the pipe. It seems construction worker permits or worker themselves may have cut for them. Or perps got in those areas somehow.

If you were inside a pipe, the smell and smoke alone from the cutting tool I would think would make you choke. I think it may have been cut from outside the pipe. Same with the cell. The cell ones I am definitely guessing inside the wall cutting to the cell. All JMO of course.

What was the distance of the second steam pipe cut from the first? How long was the extension cord?

This is my biggest question and I asked this several times yesterday.

If a car did not pick them up and they are on foot why hadn't the bloodhounds been able to track them?

Great question, and the only answer I can come up with is that a car WAS involved. Unless they stole bikes or a motorcycle and it has gone undetected by someone. However, I just can't see these 2 evil guys biking away...but the thought of it did make me giggle a bit.

A question for anyone local to that area...are there black flies in your area? I know they can be beyond terrible in the Adirondacks at this time of year, and could make being in the woods very difficult if in fact they are in your neck of the woods. Here is a link to a 2013 article about black flies... http://www.adirondackalmanack.com/2013/05/bug-season-tips-for-avoiding-black-flies.html
Just a personal note about black flies...I hate them and virtually can't be in the mountains when they are in season.

Where did you see that? If true and I posted this yesterday if they took them with them it would be because they could be tied to someone. Why else would you lug them with you?

They could use the tools as weapons. Matt is a violent killer. I imagine he can present a terrifying figure with a hammer in his hand.

Looking at this pic it looks as if the tool marks when I blow up the image are horizontal tool marks on the edge of the cut which would be a sawzall type cut and not a cut-off wheel and it looks like an orange extension cord is there as well. governor-andrew-cuomo-tours-clinton-correctional-facility.jpg

Sorry I stepped away from the tv for bit and have to go out very soon but just wanted to mention that on TWCNews.com's live feed last night (so, probably a story or video or tweet can be found - kimi you were on this last night, maybe you can find something to verify it? :) ) that there are several commercial freight trains that run right through that area, and in fact right thru the property they were searching yesterday. They have also said something else about it railroad that I can't remember just now, referring to it being one of the more common vehicles they'd come across, as rural as the prison and this area and in between is. I'm sorry but I have to go out now, otherwise I'd look for links right now myself.. , oh "yes" is the answer to the question earlier they said something like "someone saw 2 men with a guitar case or something over his shoulder" but someone already linked for that too.

Also real quick I didn't mean to imply earlier that I can get info, like - ask a cop or reporter personally or something- for information to help verify what I say here. I only meant that the source I keep quotinng is a live 24 hour news channel for our larger area here, and so they have tons of air time to fill and as such are probably putting on every big and little thing they find out about this, and maybe a bit sooner than other shows that wait for their main broadcast or a chance to update the ticker on the screen or something. So figured I can try to help verify stuff via that access to that news channel. Sorry for any poor word choices I may have made that implied something else in regards to verification issues!

I live in the area (Plattsburgh vicinity). There are several freight trains running through this area every day running north and south. One is the Canadian National/ Norfolk Southern 930 freight train. If you google this name + Plattsburgh NY, you can see a video of the train. There is an Amtrack that goes through (south) around 1 pm and comes up from NYC going to Montreal around 5 pm. In the late afternoon and evening there are these long black freight trains that are running south and most are marked as carrying agricultural fertilizer. The one I would be most interested in would be the freight train that runs south EVERY SINGLE NIGHT around 11 pm. Now, Plattsburgh is about 25-30 miles north of Willsboro and about 15 miles east from Dannemora. The track pretty much follows a due south line from Plattsburgh paralleling Lake Champlain in places. I've taken the Amtrak train and can't remember the natural slowing points. Trains go slow through P-burgh because of population. Not sure what speeds they would be going at elsewhere.

That's his handwriting on the note.

^^ Note little smilies in his last two paragraphs.

^^ Note "D" in his signature is similar to "D" in Have a Nice Day post-it note.

That's his handwriting on the note.

The comments under the tweet indicate others agree with you, nikki80....

IMO, inmates often have nice penmanship (as they submit their own legal briefs, etc.).

In depth look into the life (and childhood) of DS. It appears he stopped writing his mom 2 months ago. She wants nothing to do with him.

From your link. Interesting

A man who plans

Before he was convicted of first-degree murder, David Sweat had the marking of a planner.

Maps and lists littered the trail of crime that led to his part in the killing of Deputy Kevin Tarsia, according to Press & Sun-Bulletin archives:

A documented plot to burglarize a youth-group home in Binghamton in 1996. A "to-do" list of thefts discovered in his Broome County jail cell in 1997. A sketch of the Pennsylvania fireworks and gun shop broken into shortly before Tarsia's murder in the early hours of July 4, 2002.
