they seem to be very confused about that angle. Some say all the rain is a problem and just now they are saying the scent is from the night they broke out.

Could be it's just how they are releasing info. never know but these guys could be holed up in vaycay home somewhere watching news.

Hacksaw’ Fugitive Charmed Guards With Oprah Portraits, Sweet Talk - The Daily Beast
BY M.L. NESTEL, KATE BRIQUELET 06.09.1510:33 PM ET

Inmates and prison guards called him “Hacksaw”—a savage nom de ghoul inspired by the weapon he used to butcher his elderly boss almost two decades ago. But Richard W. Matt had a soft side, too: drawing Oprah.

“Matt was a fantastic artist,” a longtime supervisor told The Daily Beast of the ex-con, who—along with his sidekick, convicted murderer David Sweat—has been on the run since late Friday after escaping from Clinton Correctional Facility in northern New York.
[...]
For years, Matt and Sweat punched in as garment factory workers alongside 50 other “honor block” inmates, who, for up to 65 cents an hour, sewed and stitched prison undergarments, shirts, trousers, and an ensemble of utility clothing for the prison in Dannemora. The jailhouse atelier also exported its wares to other prisons and state agencies, including the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.
But Matt, 49, didn’t just show off his sewing skills. Inspired by portraits of Oprah Winfrey, he began crafting his own pencil drawings of the television icon. “He drew people pictures; he did a portfolio on Oprah and it was really, really good,” the supervisor, who requested anonymity, remembered fondly.
“I knew that was Matt’s nickname,” she said. “I was curious for a long time. ‘Why do they call him Hacksaw?’ And now I know, thank you.”Matt’s supervisor purposely kept herself insulated from the crimes committed by the rapists and murdering inmates at Clinton. Finally, she found out about Matt. “His nickname by everybody was ‘Hacksaw,’ and that’s how come I talked to the guards about him,” she said.

Matt disregarded prison protocol when he decided to show his sketches to staffers. “He brought them over to show the corrections officers,” the source said. “He wasn’t supposed to bring them over.”
[...] For his jailers, he left a note with a crude Asian caricature that said, “Have a nice day.”

On CNN they interviewed someone from a dog training place who knew a lot more about it than it sounds like based on my poor paraphrasing but he said that rain can cause some trouble as can the heat of the day, at times, but that it can come down to the breed of the dog and even the dog itself, and he said he read that theyr'e using bloodhounds in this search and he further stated that he felt they would do pretty well even with the rain as an issue. I will go look for a supporting link now but it would be that Anderson Cooper guy, if we have to wait for a transcript to come out.

First, I must ask all on ws if they will take the stand for me if I ever am arrested for my computer searches :)
But seriously, where are the heat seeking drones? Also apparently rocks that retain heat from the day longer and dense thickets will help break up the thermal imaging pattern. I wonder if they hide under rock ledges or under downed trees to evade detection.

Investigators are looking at surveillance video from a gas station about a mile from the New York prison where two inmates escaped over the weekend, Clinton County District Attorney Andrew Wylie told CNN on Thursday night.

<snip>

There is also a Subway sandwich shop at the gas station
and Wylie said the prisoners might have been looking for food in the trash bin.

The store opens at 4 a.m. so it would have been staffed about the time officials believe the inmates broke out. There is limited security video from the store and authorities were reviewing it.

Wylie said the dogs were still on the scent Thursday evening.

She should make a run for it!

She better climb through that manhole and break into the prison before one of the LE officers who had to spend the last few nights cramped down on a cold damp floor of the woods gets ahold of her.

Have to go back to this...Why did the dogs not have the scent from day one?

O, was Sweat returned to tailor shop. Kidding Me:

Wylie confirmed the inquiry to CNN's "Anderson Cooper 360˚" but said the allegation was unfounded.

"There wasn't enough evidence to support a finding inside the department (of corrections)," Wylie said.

But, he added: "I don't believe that the information was that there was absolutely no relationship."

Wylie said Sweat was removed temporarily from the prison tailor shop, where he and Mitchell worked.

No, nope cant testify for you. I would be of no help. I would make it worse for you given my searches on cases LOL Reports claim they are utilizing this equipment. These guys very well may know how to avoid infrared detection. They sure had a plan. A well planned out plan. Until Tillie bailed on them that is.

I live in rural NYS. Within the past 12 years - we've had 2 prisoners hiding in the woods scenarios. Ralph Bucky Phillips was on the run for 4 months. It ended badly with an officer being shot and killed - as the officer crawled up a hill to reach Bucky. The searches were a terrible joke. Many of the officers wore their dress shoes and spent most of their time on the roads stopping vehicles.

The 2nd prisoner walked off a road project at Allegany State Park. Everyone surmised that because he was from Puerto Rico that the woods with bears and coyotes would kill him and that he would not survive more than a week or two. Actually he was found many months later in a trailer/camp and would raid some of the local houses for food etc. But it was probably 6 months later - he made it through winter. One of the police search barracks was set-up within view of the trailer/camp. So he watched them every day. The officers were on my road for days. They searched by sitting in their running cars, at the end of driveways, with their lights off - waiting for him to walk down the road without street lights etc. You could hear the cars running ... it was absurddd.
I do not have any faith that they will be caught as a result of the search efforts but of course I hope I am wrong.

Sadly, I have to agree with you that LE will mainly stay on the roads and just wait for a call from the public for a home invasion report or another sighting of them from a local.

Now if they do get a specific report of an exact area, they will probably move in but I dont expect much crawling through the woods like most people in the public are thinking.

Ok so not the Plattsburgh Maplefields. Never mind carry on...

For a bit I was wondering if they were actually hiding inside someplace waiting to leave at a later time when the dogs had no scent at the beginning.

But at least they have surveillance now. I was kinda hoping they got to the Plattsburgh one. That's the major commercial area and they would have camera surveillance there for sure.

Unless these guys are holed up somewhere that offers food and shelter they aren't going to last much longer. I'm dying to hear what the plan was. At least as far as she was told. Where was Tillie to take them? Ride off into the sunset together? I think Tillie would have been killed as these guys carried on.

So is this gas station on route 374, can anyone tell me?

LOL I never quite got why that was released. Guess it could be deemed a "distinguishing feature"
