<snip>

Prison tailor Joyce Mitchell told her husband about two convicted murderers' plans to break out of the facility and warned him that his life could be in danger, a source with direct knowledge of the investigation told CNN. An attorney for Mitchell's husband, Lyle, denied that the husband knew anything about the escape plan.

Joyce Mitchell began having a sexual relationship with escapee Richard Matt in 2013, the source said. The sexual relationship took place at the tailor shop in the Clinton Correctional Facility, the only known place the two were ever together, the source said.

Wow Matt was seriously committed to this plan, to schtup Tilly for two years!

I'm beginning to think that the state prison that the two convicts escaped from was classified as a maximun lax security prison.

When these two convicts are recaptured, they should be immediately transferred to a federal supermax security prison.

This photo illustrates the lighter wall that I had recalled. In the other photo floating around, believe it's the other cell, both walls are institution green.

I can't exactly grasp the grates, the grey/silver cardboard without a visual which doesn't exist, but is the gist of it according to the NY Daily News post cited that the grate would have been placed back over the grey cardboard???
Is that it?

I only recall that they placed the spray painted grey cardboard over the hole using toothpaste to stick it there. I would love to see a pick of a cell with an intact vent.

At this point I think they either walked out the front door or they're part of the search effort for themselves dressed in CO uniforms and being well feed by the residents of the areas being searched. As the search area expands out they're getting further away every day.

<snip>

Clinton County District Attorney Andrew Wylie told the Associated Press that Mitchell was "Plan A" and without a backup plan...

<snip>

However, Clinton County Sheriff David Favro told CNN that Mitchell's getaway car was actually "Plan B." He suspected their elaborate plan had a more "fool-proof" strategy than relying on the woman who worked in the prison's tailoring shop

"I honestly don't think she was 'Plan A,'" Favro said Tuesday, according to Reuters. "I think she was 'Plan B.'"

Oh, for crying out loud!!!

SPOILER ALERT: They had another plan.

Your first clue, Mr. Wylie, is that they are still at large. :facepalm:

Soon they'll be calling into Tip Line using fool-proof software

Perhaps their "Plan A" cohort(s) (I believe an outsider, not Joyce, met and helped them) went into the manhole and cut the pipe opening for them. Then they all drove away into the night... JMO

Crawling through a 24" pipe with a guitar case though? Anyone have a guitar case? It seems it would be too wide. (Remember in Shawshank Andy dragged something tied to his foot?). I can't even stand to think about crawling in a pipe, never mind carrying stuff with me. I would die of a panic attack from being in a small space. :panic:

Except that the couple who came home (and their house close to the prison) after midnight and found them in their yard (with the guitar case) only saw the two -- not a third person. IF they had gotten picked up at the manhole -- they'd have driven off immediately -- not loitered around in someone's garden.

I wouldent be surprised if Tillie was more like Plan C or even D ... these guys certainly put alot of planning into this to have broken an all time record for NYS prisons.

Im actually wondering if they might have 'escaped' before and returned in time for the morning headcount. Maybe they even established supply caches outside with food, more civilian clothing, a tent, etc ... heck, maybe they even stole a car and had it hidden away.

Getting there myself - its almost become enough is enough - they got away - they havnt killed anyone I think they may just need to throw this in the Alxatraz pile and move on. I still think there was threats going on solely by the son first interview - but keeping 1000 folks , in overtime, standing on highways,and opening trunks for a week and a half seems kinda heading nowhere at this point

its just like the Boston Marathon deal. I remember the big headline "Captured" what do you guys mean "captured", the kid fell out of the boat with his hands up after a ciggerette smoker located em- who knows if that guy gave up smoking ...................!

But 12000 LE people running all over Boston terrorizing everyone, violating a cities right as it relates to "search" never found him----lets be frank here !

:eek: His kitchen cabinets are the same color as his old prison cell? You'd think making your home look absolutely nothing like the 8x10 tank you were locked up in for however long would be job one.

RBBM

Just jumping off your post Elley:

Why didn't Lyle go directly to the Sheriff, LE or the DA or even his attorney after his visit with Tillie this morning: No, he went directly to his wife's attorney.

Why was that?

He MAY have had some knowledge before from Tillie (towards the very end), hence his own attorney.

It may have had to do with financial issues (attorney fees) and whether or not Lyle was prepared or able to pay them, and if he was, how. They would be down to just one paycheck now, so funds will be tight for Lyle. He may or may not be willing to put their house on a 2nd mortgage to fund her legal defense. If he intends to pursue a divorce, then she'd only have access to half their assets (whatever that might be). I think it's advisable for him to divorce her, to protect himself financially (and otherwise). HER lawyer is saying he intends to stand by her, but that may just be spin.

Wow Matt was seriously committed to this plan, to schtup Tilly for two years!

He REALLY wanted out!

But seriously, IMO Tillie was not part of any plan. They used her for whatever they could. They weren't going to run with her. She was just easy/horny prey.

LE has said No confirmed sightings

"Clinton County Sheriff David Favro said rain has been washing away any scent dogs might find and interfering with thermal imaging devices being used to detect body heat."

<snip>

"In Broome County, where Sweat and his cousin killed a deputy in 2002, Sheriff David Harder said his office has been investigating since Sweat broke out of prison, contacting his family and associates and committing about 50 officers to the case. Sweat was "a kind of survivalist," who was caught in the woods in New York's Southern Tier five days after that killing after somebody came forward with information, he said."

BBM - IMO this is overstated if it solely relies on those 5 days in the woods. He was hanging out in an stolen winnebago parked in the woods as I understand it from this article:

EXCLUSIVE: 'She would have been killed within a week.' Clinton County Sheriff says the 'Shawshank' escapees planned on MURDERING their 'lover' Joyce Mitchell, who is now on suicide watch in prison

By Shekhar Bhatia In Plattsburgh, New York For Dailymail.com

It has also been revealed that the convicts may have worked out in the prison gym to reduce their body size

<snip>

On-the-run killers David Sweat and Richard Matt would have murdered prison employee Joyce Mitchell within a week of their escape, a top law enforcement official believes.

Clinton County Sheriff David Favro, speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com, said: 'Her life was in danger absolutely.

'These two inmates would have asked, "Would she phone her husband, would she phone her son?" They would probably have killed her within a week.

'They abused her both physically and emotionally and used her. They had got what they had set out for from her.

No apples, just the messenger :)

Why am I getting the feeling they're going to go easy on Tillie? The past two days I feel like the media has been saturated with sources, investigators, her husband, the sheriff, the DA...all suddenly painting this picture of her as some fragile victim, a damsel in distress...PLEASE!!

She helped two violent criminals escape freakin prison! She didn't warn anyone or do anything to prevent it! She cheated on her husband repeatedly with them! She had sex with BOTH of them! She thought she was in love! She's not a victim! She's an idiot!!! UGH!

Because if they find her hanging from her bedsheets they'll be blamed.

Thank you for the great graphics! What was this 24 inch pipe used for? Was it a steam pipe?

Can you imagine being inside a 24 inch pipe and having to cut a hole to get out of it? How'd they know where to cut the exit hole? By tapping on inside of pipe to see when it exited the wall?

The graphic was great - and revised my notions about the number of people invovled !!! For some guy with a back problem, and the other one does not look exactly in shape - just physically that is quite a lot of work.

ANd I stick to my story (ha) anyone playing around in those places has to get DIRTY! How could every guard, and other inmate (they have loyaliites- but not all the same ones) not notice that at 1030 they showered and ready for a bit of shut eye, and at 530 , morning after morning, there dirty. Thats messy work !!!
