Wow, so Tilley's panic attack gives her a pretty airtight alibi. How convenient.

Yeah, I mean, it sounds like she and Lyle left work and she came down with her panic attack on the way home and so Lyle took her to the hospital to spend the night, then left and went home, during which time the men escaped and Lyle slept and Tilly panicked in the hospital. I wonder if she was surprised the next day when Lyle was still alive, or if she assumed that since she wasn't the getaway driver, he would be safe? That had to be a really crazy night to be in Tilly's head. Crazier than normal I mean.

BBM and RSBM You and jantour make great points! Perhaps the panic attack was all part of the convenient alibi (as mentioned by jantour) and she was expecting hubsy wubsy to be wearing cement shoes in a nearby lake when she got out of the hospital. She couldn't possibly assume that the two of them 100% wouldn't kill Lyle. She didn't even warn him.

If (according to Lyle's attorney) the inmates threatened to kill Lyle if she didn't help them escape, why did she let him go home like a lamb to the slaughter? If we are to believe Tilly, she backed out on picking them up and helping them escape. So why would she assume they wouldn't follow through and kill Lyle?

And the astounding part is that a Female Staff had time alone with a Convicted Psychopath and nobody noticed!!!

Can't fight a love like theirs. Oh and then you can't fight another love with a different psychopath like theirs. Okay who are we kidding, she straight up loved her some murderin' psychopaths.

In prior news reports it was stated that an inmate approached Mr. Mitchell to reassure him that there was no truth to the rumor of an affair at the prison concerning Kyle's wife. Finally it was stated yesterday the name of the imate who approached Mr. Mitchell. It was David Sweat.

New York Post reporter said:
“Sweat even approached Lyle and said that there was nothing going on,” Dumas said.

""Toward the end, Joyce had told Lyle — and we have no reason to doubt it — that she told Sweat and Matt that she wasn't going to go through with it," he said. "At that point, they threatened her by threatening Lyle, saying they were going to have someone on the outside do something to him or someone on the inside when he was back at work do something to him so I think it was a point of control."

Lyle Mitchell is cooperating with authorities and isn't facing charges.

"He's still in love with her, but I don't know that he is going to be very supportive," Dumas said."

"Wylie on Thursday also offered a new detail on the relationship between Matt and Joyce Mitchell, saying the inmate painted a picture of her children after she gave him boxing gloves.

"She provided him the speed boxing gloves for the picture of her children," Wylie said. "So she gave it to her husband, Lyle, for their anniversary.""

The cuckolded husband of the prison worker who had affairs with two inmates — and is charged with helping them escape — is cooperating with authorities and “the concept of divorce is looming,” his lawyer said Thursday.

Lyle Mitchell “says he’s still in love” with cheating wife Joyce Mitchell but doesn’t plan to bail her out “because of what he knows now,” defense lawyer Peter Dumas said.

Dumas also said that Joyce told Lyle during a jailhouse meeting on Tuesday that she hadn’t wanted fugitive inmates David Sweat and Richard Matt to kill him as part of their escape plan — a plot alleged Wednesday by Clinton County DA Andrew Wylie.

“The thing that keeps going through his mind is, ‘How did I not see this coming? How couldn’t I have known?'” Dumas told an upstate news conference.

“He said that love is blind. He never saw this coming.”

The hunt for Sweat and Matt, who went missing from Clinton Correctional Facility on June 6, is in its 13th day, and Lyle — who also worked in the prison — “is not scared for himself … because he feels the two escapees are long gone by now,” Dumas said.

"State and local police SWAT teams Thursday night gathered outside an Amherst home after a tip that two escaped murderers may be in western New York.

Just before 8 p.m. the SWAT team surrounded the home on Grover Cleveland Highway near Bailey Avenue. Officials say they were following a lead in the search for Richard Matt and David Sweat. Although the tip turned out to be inaccurate, police say it wasn’t a concerned citizen who thought they sighted one of the two murderers.

The home they were searching is believed to be the home of Matt’s half brother. And it’s not the first time authorities were there."

http://wivb.com/2015/06/18/swat-team-entered-amherst-home-on-bad-tip-of-escaped-murderers/

Keep in mind that after Matt broke out last time he went straight to his half brother's house and asked to use his car to drive to Mexico and his half brother said no and Matt said "look you're my brother and I love you but I'll kill you" so his half brother had a second set of keys made and left them and Matt and the house and left and when he got home Matt and the car were gone (later to be found in Mexico).

ETA: http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...tic-escapee-at-the-center-of-the-n-y-manhunt/

"In 1986, at age 19, Matt was convicted and sentenced to a year in the Erie County Correction Facility. But that term was interrupted when Matt, taking advantage of a guard’s mistake, slipped out of his cell, scaled a 9-foot brick and metal wall topped with razor wire and hopped a freight train to his brother’s house in Tonawanda. When police finally tracked him down five days later, they found him brandishing an ax handle in his brother’s apartment."

<snip>

(later in 1997):
"Weeks later, Matt showed up at the apartment of his half brother, Wayne Schimpf. At Matt’s trial a year later, Schimpf said he was unnerved by Matt’s sudden appearance."

<snip>

"Later, Matt told Schimpf that he needed to get out of town and asked to borrow his car, Schimpf testified. When Schimpf refused, Matt reportedly told him, “You’re my brother, you’re my blood. I love you but I’ll kill you.”

Schimpf made copies of his keys, the Daily Beast reported, and soon after his car was gone. Matt had fled to Mexico, where he quickly got into trouble again. In 1998, according to the Buffalo News, Matt was imprisoned for killing another American in a fight outside a bar."

Oh no.

http://www.tmz.com/2015/06/19/escaped-new-york-convicts-prison-lifetime-movie/

"Richard Matt and David Sweat, the two killers who escaped from a New York prison, are about to get the chance of a Lifetime ... on TV."

<snip>

"The production company is confident the show can make air within 5 months, and they can easily pivot as events warrant.

As for where it lands, JPG says they have a good relationship with Lifetime as well as online streaming networks like Hulu."

There are conflicting statements pertaining to the paintings;

New York Post reporter said:
Dumas also revealed that double murderer Matt, an accomplished amateur artist, “made a few paintings for Joyce” a couple of years ago.

“One was of her son Tobey and then some time later, another portrait was made of Joyce’s dogs,” Dumas said.

“There was going to be a third painting made. I believe there was talk that he was going to do one as an anniversary present for Lyle, but Lyle told Joyce, ‘I don’t want any more of his paintings at the house.'”

About 18 months ago, Joyce denied having an affair with Sweat when she was investigated for having an inappropriate relationship, Dumas said.

“Sweat even approached Lyle and said that there was nothing going on,” Dumas said.

CNN reporter said:
And in April, Wylie said, Mitchell gave the painting to her husband as a wedding anniversary present.In exchange, Mitchell gave Matt a pair of speed bag gloves, similar to boxing gloves.

"Club Kid killer Michael Alig, who spent time at the Clinton Correctional Facility — where Richard Matt and David Sweat seduced staffer Joyce “Tillie” Mitchell before escaping — said inmates’ favorite spot for sex was the “meat freezer." "

<snip>

"It’s easier to have sex with a woman [at the prison] than it is to have sex with a man,”"

<snip>

"“The women are working on staff and they have access to private rooms.”

He elaborated, “Like the storage rooms or the meat freezer. A lot of things happen in the meat freezer. Because there’s only one entrance, it can be locked, and there are no windows. Those places are known to everyone.”"

I think looking for fingerprints as well as touch DNA would be the analyzing. Also they would be able to trace bar codes back to the point of purchase with help from the manufacturer and distributor.

Eta/ I wonder if they will be releasing those results!

Yes, that makes good sense.

New York Prison article today.

New York Post reporter said:
A veteran correction officer allegedly ran a “Jail Shopping Network” that smuggled drugs, cellphones and tools into a city lockup — leading authorities to find a rope fashioned from bedsheets that could be used in an escape.

Patricia Howard, a 19-year veteran assigned to the Manhattan Detention Complex, was quietly busted last month and an ensuing sweep of the downtown jail uncovered contraband that included a homemade sheet rope long enough for an inmate to climb out of his 11th-floor cell.

Ernest Murphy, 25, who is awaiting trial in the downtown facility — also known as “The Tombs” — on gang-assault and weapons charges, tied together the 64 bedsheets and hid them under a sink, officials said.

“Thankfully, it was discovered before he had an opportunity to test his skills making a getaway, and so the city was spared the potential spectacle of joining the state for the past two weeks in a manhunt for an escaped inmate,” said Department of Investigation Commissioner Mark Peters, referring to upstate escaped killers David Sweat and Richard Matt.

Howard, 44, schemed with inmate Tommy Davis, 56, to provide jailbirds with a virtual Amazon.com — just about anything they desired at staggering markups, with a pack of smokes going for as much as $100, said Manhattan DA Cyrus Vance Jr.

Evidence includes a Christmas card addressed to Howard that thanked her for supporting the “Jail Shopping Network.”

"At Matt’s 2008 murder trial, stripper Johanna Capretto testified against her former beau, saying he smoked a Marlboro as he confessed to breaking the businessman’s neck. She listened to him in the bathroom of the Fort Erie, Ontario, motel where she lived. He said it was an accident."

Ontario. Is that Canada? Sounds like Canada to me. So he has links to Canada, and perhaps a grudge.

(Just because I suggested he may go into Canada doesn't mean we're bashing you guys or trying to say your police suck. So with that pre-explanation in mind I hope nobody will make me feel hte need to apologize again. I know many of us in this thread have felt like we were guilted into apologizing for even suggesting they could've gone to Canada and as such we've not even discussed it which is just plain silly. IMO.)

ALBANY – Momentum is growing for a bill that would make it much harder for convicted killers like Richard Matt and David Sweat to obtain street clothes and manipulate civilian employees to aid in prison escapes.

Assemblyman James Tedisco (R-Glenville) introduced legislation on Tuesday that would ban violent felons convicted of murder, kidnapping and rape from getting their hands on civilian clothes.

It would also prevent the state’s most violent convicts from interacting with civilian employees who are not trained law enforcement officers.

Tedisco wants to do away with both privileges, which he believes helped Matt and Sweat escape from a maximum security prison in Dannemora on June 7 and blend in since then.

What would he want speed boxing gloves for, we all wondered? Well here's what he used similar gloves for in the past:

"The day before Rickerson was reported missing in December 1997, Schimpf, Matt, and the accomplice Bates downed vodka at Schimpf’s Buffalo apartment, according to Schimpf’s testimony.

Matt and Bates announced they were going to see a cousin’s boyfriend, who owed them money for vitamins from Rickerson’s food brokerage. Schimpf gave the pair batting gloves and packing tape, he testified. Matt said he planned to use the gloves to hit the boyfriend and force him to pay up.

Weeks later, Matt showed his brother a newspaper story on police finding Rickerson’s torso in the Niagara River."

Fort Erie Ontario Canada is on the Niagara River right across from Buffalo, New York.

Might there be trains that cross there? Freight of course. Nobody asks freight for a passport.

IMO in a town with 3936 residents, of whom 3000 are (largely maximum security) inmates, there should be cameras on every traffic signal, every business, maybe even every home's front porch.

JMO.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dannemora_(village),_New_York

"Dannemora is a village located in the towns of Dannemora and Saranac in Clinton County, New York, United States. The population was 3,936 (approximately 2,800 to 3,000 of this number are prison inmates) at the 2010 census."

ETA:

"Dannemora is within the Adirondack Park except for the state prison."

That's interesting. The Adirondack Park is the largest nature preserve/wilderness area in the United States...

" It is the largest park and the largest state-level protected area in the contiguous United States, and the largest National Historic Landmark.

The park covers some 6.1 million acres (2.5×106 ha), a land area roughly the size of Vermont and greater than the areas of the National Parks of Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Glacier, and Great Smoky Mountains combined.[3]"

I've always said that if Hannah Anderson's kidnaper had taken her to the Adirondack Park instead, he might've never been caught. (Then again IMO he had no clue how to survive outdoors whatsoever so maybe not).

ETA once more:

"The southern side of the park is closer to major population centers, and lies just north of the New York State Thruway (Interstate 90). Interstate 87 (the Adirondack Northway) traverses the eastern side of the park between the Capital District of New York and Montreal, Canada. The northern and western portions of the park are somewhat more remote, but can be reached from Interstate 81, NY 3, NY 28, and US 11.[citation needed] The park is also served by the Adirondack Regional Airport, Amtrak's Adirondack Route along the shores of Lake Champlain, the Adirondack Scenic Railroad from Utica to Old Forge, and the Saratoga and North Creek Railroad"
