Really interesting to hear his perspective since he was there and knew Matt, Sweat, and Tillie.

Inmate maintenance workers who have access to the catwalks let other inmates back there to rig their cells with enough power to cook, have their fan on, TV on, etc all at the same time in exchange for cigarettes or the like. Un freakin believable.

A catwalk area on most industrial jobs is behind the area the public would be exposed to. It contains all electrical pipes, mechanical equipment like steam pipes and air conditioning ductwork as well as plumbing, motors, etc. often there are stairwells that lead to the rooftop. Hope this helps

The catwalk is the area behind the cells where pipes, electricity, etc., are contained. When cells face "out" (as opposed to facing each other) so the catwalk is between two galleries (rows) of cells facing in opposite directions. In other words, one catwalk would, in such case, give you access to to galleries of cells' pipes, etc.

I may be mistaken but I always thought the catwalk was the area the guards walk to keep an eye on the cells and prisoners. It is usually up high so the officers can walk it and look down to see what is happening in the different areas of the prison.

Thank you! Your comment made me google "words per minute typing test" because I don't know about that kind of thing to be honest. I just spend way too much online so I've come to be a fast typer, LOL. Plus taking keyboarding in college ages ago.

This test says "456 Characters Per Minute (91 Words Per Minute) with 2 mistakes". (I missed the "y" on "every" and I missed a space between two words).

Is that good? (ETA - I took it twice and got 91 wpm both times)

Back in the day, 60 wpm was the norm for an executive secretary type of position. So, yeah, you're burning those keys, baby!

One thing my hubby doesn't understand and that is a hunter who leaves his hunting weapon or weapons inside of the cabin when they aren't there. That would never happen here. Several do have hunting cabins here when they go hunting but once hunting season is over they never leave any of their weapons behind knowing that someone can break in and steal them in such isolated areas with no police around. In fact every time they leave to come home they load up their hunting weapons even if they are coming back the next week or even in a day or so. Some of these hunting rifles cost two or three thousand dollars.

This cabin is leased to a hunting club and their members cycle through it so much that there's just always guns and ammo there based on what has been said. but I agree with you/your husband.

Yeah, but the alarming part is that fellow inmates who work in maintenance not only have free reign access of the catwalks, but take bribes to let other inmates back there to hotwire more electricity to their cells.

I don't know if this is of any importance, but here's a mention of Palmer from after the escape but before he was mentioned in any media as a person of interest. In this article he was giving the NPR reporter a brief tour of the prison. I don't know if anyone can draw anything from any of his words there.. or if there's even anything to draw.
