Yes that's him. It says further down in the article I posted the link to that he was arrested for copper theft since he got out and the same photo of him was given.

Wow! The plot thickens!

Why? It's just a criminal who happened to do time at CCF with Matt and Sweat and worked with them at the tailor shop under Tilly's tutelage.

Not surprising a criminal got out and stole more stuff IMO. Doesn't mean anything IMO. Surely lots of people who were in got out and committed more crimes. It's just what they do, hence the term "career criminal". JMO

ETA - Rhinebeck is down by Poughkeepsie and the city, the chances of someone getting shipped upstate to Clinton for smalltime theft of copper tubing for the purpose of scrapping seems very unlikely to me JMO. He's nowhere near Clinton now, can hardly get any further to the other end of the state.

Well, why not/who can blame you? The way this case is going that would not surprise me either!

Well, I've been up all night and gonna lay down for a few hours. Maybe when I awaken, there will be some big news on the manhunt.

Items could have been taken from the prison and placed there or anywhere, but...
If their fingerprints are in the cabin, on door knobs, etc., I don't think it would be the case.
Excellent point, but does anyone know if there were prints or DNA on anything other than the underwear, peanut butter jar, boots and water jug? I read that the boots were found in the woods and not in the cabin. Again, thinking Hollywood movie here...

Someone responded to this a couple of pages back, saying it was a terrible interview that smacked of excuse-making. I didn't see it myself, what do you think about that assessment?

See my Post #250.

Poor Lyle, Tilly sure put one over on him... but they do say...denial is a wonderful thing as it protects us from the things (reality) that we are unable to accept or aren't ready to accept. Except...what did he think Tilly was doing with all those baked goods and food she was taking to work? I doubt they have prison bake sales.

And wasn't he even mildly suspicious about the rumors re: Tillie and Sweat ? And the "investigation" and if their habit was to have lunch together, didn't he sort of wonder what she was doing for lunch? Dopey Lyle, as long as Tillie proclaims her love, all else is forgotten. JMO

I felt really bad for Lyle after watching his interview. He was all lawyered up, but he just seems like an innocent child. He was clearly duped by Tillie who cannot be very bright either.

"A group of correction officers — including a high-ranking guard at the Dannemora prison — own the upstate hunting camp where the two escaped killers hid out and left their DNA, sources said Monday."

<snip>

"All of the owners are correction officers, according to the Plattsburgh Press-Republican. And a source told The Post that at least one of them holds a high position.

Cops raided the cabin on Saturday and matched DNA from Richard Matt and David Sweat to evidence seized there, including a pair of grungy, prison-issued white boxer shorts, sources said.

The discovery indicated the men had been at the cabin within the previous 24 hours.

Investigators also found boots, bloody socks and the fingerprints of at least one fugitive in the cabin, the Press-Republican said."

I don't see anything about his arrest in April 2015 mentioned in the NY Post article I was responding/linked to.

IMO, it does matter since we don't know whether he has been found guilty, not guilty, is working on a plea deal, etc.

It's also not his first offense.

I noticed some stuff that didn't make sense regarding the path the guys would've made to get from Dannemora to Lindley to Friendship so I will go ahead and re-post this map that shows the likely path, which of course presumes they're riding the rails on freight trains as often as possible:

There is no doubling back IMO AFAIK.

Wait a minute. Do I understand this right that both Matt and Sweat had childhood ties to this same general area? WOW

I had no idea they both are familiar with this area of the state. That gives them a huge advantage in their travels.

Up until now I wrongly assumed they were not too familiar with area.

I guess I'm not understanding the relevance. Of course he's a criminal, otherwise he wouldn't have been in jail alongside Matt and Sweat.

JMO the details about the bbq treat and outlay of the tailor shop should be easy to quash or confirm. If EJ was at Clinton there is a reason. JMO

I'd hardly call Tonawanda and Deposit the same general area of NY. They're quite far away.

No. Matt was from the Buffalo area in the northwest of NY state. Sweat was from the Binghamton area, along the NY/PA border, in the southeastern part of the state. Neither was from the area around Dannemora, which is in the northeastern part of the state.

Seems highly unlikely that both could have been in the cabin and only fingerprints of one found. One guy could have had items that were shared with the other at some point...hence DNA from both found in the cabin.

To me the reports are all over the place and I don't know, what is what.

CNN:

Hours from now, group of COs will gather at the manhole to protest budget cuts at CCF.

If they were really spotted at the cabin, then what is the concensus about the Friendship sighting?

-Was it a false sighting at Friendship?

The cabin is near the prison escape point about 30 miles from it. So what is the concensus about Friendship area sighting?
