IMO it does have the earmarks of a lone wolf. Rented a truck, fake guns, not a sophisticated plan.

He's a "lone wolf"? Wow, that was the fastest investigation in history.

I thought the same thing. Hmmm. I mean dude lived all over the place. Why? Recruiting others?

That's not what was said on the news.

Nitpicking, but has anyone requested that the title be edited to reflect that this was a pickup truck, not a box truck?

Off I go. Stay safe everyone.

5 Argentines, 1 Belgian killed in NYC bike path attack

Argentina's Foreign Ministry says five of the nation's citizens were among the eight people killed in the truck attack on a New York City bike path.

And the deputy prime minister and foreign affairs minister of Belgium says in a tweet one of the dead was Belgian.

Belgians and Argentines also are among the 11 wounded in Tuesday's attack.

Argentina's Foreign Ministry says the Argentine victims were in a group of friends who traveled to New York from Rosario. It says they were celebrating the 30th anniversary of graduating from Polytechnic College of Rosario.

The ministry says it stands "with the families in this terrible moment of deep pain, which is shared by all Argentines."

Foreign Minister Jorge Faurie says he's "shocked by the events in New York."

Police say they shot and wounded the attacker and took him into custody.

Records show Saipov was a commercial truck driver who formed a pair of businesses in Ohio after moving to the U.S. The first business, Sayf Motors Inc., used the address of a family friend near Cincinnati with whom Saipov had stayed for a couple of weeks after his arrival in the country. The second, Bright Auto LLC, used an address near Cleveland.

[h=2]'He always used to work'[/h]A trucking industry website listed Saipov at a Paterson, N.J., address that authorities were searching Tuesday night. Court records related to trucking-related infractions list Saipov with addresses in Paterson and the Cleveland suburbs.

The family friend with whom Saipov stayed in Ohio, Dilnoza Abdusamatova, told The Cincinnati Enquirer Saipov was "really calm" and worked hard.
"He always used to work," Abdusamatova said. "He wouldn't go to parties or anything. He only used to come home and rest and leave and go back to work."

Omg! I now understand our friends over the pond so devastated that tourists would be killed in their nation. I’m shocked that 6 of 8 were here on holiday. So sorry and so sad. :(

I’ve been away celebrating Halloween and came back to this terrible news. My thoughts and prayers are with those who have died and the injured. I was wrongly thinking the other day how quiet things had been terrorism wise and very sadly it was not to last.

  • Belgian woman also among dead in act of terror that also injured 11
The man accused of driving a Home Depot rental truck into a group of pedestrians and cyclists in New York is an Uzbekistan national who lived in New Jersey and drove for Uber.

As authorities work to piece together the events that led to the deadly attack, some details about Sayfullo Saipov’s life are beginning to surface.

Saipov is reported to have entered the US in 2010 and lived in Ohio, Florida and latterly in Paterson, New Jersey.

Dilfuza Iskhakova, who lived in Cincinnati, Ohio, told the Guardian that Saipov had stayed with her for several months about six years ago after arriving from Uzbekistan.
Iskhakova said her family had lost contact with Saipov in recent years and she thought he had moved from Ohio to Florida, then to the New York region, and that he now had a wife and two young children

My husband and both sons have beards. It takes many months to grow that long.

NYC terror suspect was wanted man in Platte County in 2016

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Sayfullo Habibullaevic Saipov, who is accused of driving over eight people on a bicycle path Tuesday in a terrorist attack, was a wanted man in Platte County just last year.

Saipov was stopped by the Missouri Highway Patrol in Platte City December 16, 2015. He was cited for not maintaining the required brake system in a motor carrier. The section of code the Highway Patrol said he violated regulates commercial vehicles.

Court records show troopers put out a warrant out for his arrest in April of last year when he didn’t respond to the ticket. He was eventually tracked down and served with the warrant in Tampa, Fla.
