SOUTH OTSELIC "" George Ford Jr., a summer resident of South Otselic, took his 12-year-old baby sitter to an abandoned house for more than three hours before he ran over her with his 2000 Ford three-quarter-ton pickup truck, according to Chenango County Sheriff Thomas Loughren.

Loughren said a global positioning system secretly installed in Ford’s truck by his wife shows Ford has been lying about how and when the girl died.

"The GPS unit clearly tracked his locations," Loughren told reporters Thursday morning at the Chenango County Sheriff"s Department. "Ford did not drive the 12-year-old to see the horses but instead drove around other roads and spent more than three hours behind an abandoned house, about a half mile from where she was killed.

"While at the abandoned house, we believe Shyanne (Somers) got away from Ford on foot and proceeded down Will Warner Road.
"Ford pursued her in his truck and eventually caught up to her," Loughren said. "Ford drove over her, killing her instantly, driving off the left side of the highway and up onto a bank to accomplish this."

Could the girl have had internal injuries that this guy didn't see? Perhaps, that's why he waited. He didn't realize how serious her injuries were.

Never mind. I just the link posted by Sherri. Geez...I was going to give this guy the benefit of the doubt. It sounds like he is a sick perv who raped or wanted to rape the 12-year-old and murdered her to keep her from talking.

nope. in the link i just posted they say he did not wait all that long. he had her at a abandoned house for more than three hours before he ever ran over her. and the doctor says she had head trauma and internal injuries so bad that if it had happened in the hospital parking lot they probably couldn't save her.

after reading a couple stories here is what i was able to gather. the driver and his wife asked that the 12yr old spend the night because they would be out really late. the parents of the 12 year old said ok. the driver and his wife changed their minds so the wife asked that the driver take the girl homebut her parents would have thought she was spending the night still. according to the gps tracker he drove towards the horses but stopped before he reached them. he spent 3 hours according to gps at a abandoned house then he drove towards the horses. police say the girl left the house on foot and that he driving off the left side of the highway and up onto a bank to run her over. he then placed her body in the truck and drove to town but passed by the hospital according to gps. he then drove around town before he returned and took her in to the hospital. the police said they have collected evidence from the abandoned house but will not say what.

For starters, my daughters used to babysit and I would NEVER have allowed either parent to drive my child home after a "night out". (Chances were good they could have been drinking with dinner etc.) I would always go pick my child up no matter how late or if it got to be past the time they were supposed to be home...I would simply go wait with them until the parents arrived. We had a strict rule that my girls were never allowed to be alone with any male in the home and I made this clear to the parents before my daughters entered their home. If the girls felt in any way threatened...they would call me and I would immediately go sit with them. I also did not allow them to sit with people's children I did not know unless the kids came to our home.

I am horrified this happened to this poor girl who was only trying to take care of his babies. What a creep! This story goes much deeper and will all come out eventually. I will pray for her family to find the justice and peace they deserve. The truth will come out and this creep will be found out for all his ill deeds. Hopefully, he will be serving the ultimate sentence for them.

Perhaps contact happened long before this and she was going to tell on him. He could have been trying to "convince" her not to tell or he could have been trying to convince her into an affair. Either way..there is NO excuse for his behavior or the fact she ended up dead. He DID something in those hours which wasn't appropriate because of the fact he did not take the child directly home! :furious: :furious: May he burn in jail: :behindbar

Thank god the wife had GPS installed as it helped the investigation a great deal. Most likely this pervert assaulted the poor girl at the abandoned house and she was trying to get away then he hit her with the car so she wouldn't talk.
My prayers to her family and that they lock up this pervert. His own children won't be safe around him.

I cannot think of a single believable reason other than sexual assault or a psychotic break from reality to explain why he was with this 12 year old for 3+ hours behind an abandoned house. My money is on sexual assault as the motive regardless of evidence. Some forms of assault might not leave smoking gun type evidence.

I'm sorry, Amraann - that's gross. I agree with you that it is common. I often wonder if I was sprinkled with magic fairy dust at birth. I have many many women friends and two sisters - and me and two other woman I know closely are the only ones who weren't seriously sexually abused in some manner.

It's interesting that the wife had a tracker put on her husand's truck in the first place. Trust was lacking for some reason. I hope we find out what lead to the tracker.

That poor little girl. I can't begin to imagine the terror she felt as she tried to escape him. Only 12 yrs old. If I was her mom or dad I would want to kill that guy. That little girl wasn't running for her life for no reason and he didn't take her behind an empty house to just sit and talk. He ran over her so that she couldn't talk. That is obvious. When he gets to prison I hope they turn him loose in the general population :furious:

I wonder if his wife tried to contact him during those long hours? If my husband hadn't returned from taking the babysitter home I think I would have called the parents of the girl to see if he had dropped her off. If he hadn't I think I would have taken further steps.
