I first saw a "missing" poster hanging on a post near Columbus Circle this week. Unfortunately, it was printed on green paper, and that made it hard to really see the photograph well.

Snip

She is believed to be 60-years-old and was wearing a black shirt and pants, multicolored sneakers and jewelry.

Police have released a photo of the jewelry she was wearing, in hopes it will lead to her identification.

Morning all-------forgive me for jumping in and sending like to all posts ( this is such a great forum)----- has anyone gone thru Sierra's Bible and her class notes ? Perhaps there is a clue there. I feel she went off for a "think" and some "personal reflection". From my reading this sounds like she was struggling to make the right decision and possibly struggling with some guilt perhaps that she was possibly letting people down like her co-workers.....for give me for going off track but she sounds like a deeply thoughtful woman.

Sending love and prayers to Sierra and her family and friends.

A really excellent idea to check her Bible. I wonder if LE thought of that.

I hate it when Facebook pages go silent along with any news happening here...Eerily silent! Nothing from friends, family,co workers...for days now. Ugh.

The amount of snow, the time lost due to the (necessary, IMHO) travel ban, and canceled flights between Chicago and NYC are likely dampening the spirits of Sierra's loved ones, and LE is overwhelmed with storm-related matters. And it must be so frustrating for her family and friends to have to deal with knowing that a missing adult is not automatically considered a crisis.

"When we spoke with her that morning, she seemed pretty preoccupied -- distracted. Something was on her mind," Chris, her father, told Dateline. "Then we got disconnected, which is out of character, as anyone who knows Sierra would tell you: She doesn't hang up on anyone, not even telemarketers."

She was working hard to reach several goals this year, while she wasn't up in the air, including launching a website about the importance of loving others. A resident of Astoria, Queens, Sierra is a devout part of the Connection Church, and has formed very close relationships with other members.

The New York Police Department is investigating, but officials say they cannot release much information as it is an ongoing case.

Her mother and father flew in from their home outside Chicago and have been offered housing from members of Sierra's church. All of Sierra's four siblings were in town over the weekend, and several remain in town this week.

Larry Mayberry, pastor of the Connection Church in Astoria, said Shields had a personality that always wanted to help and serve. She was one of the teachers who would teach ESL for free on Sundays and was always offering to do jobs no one else would do.

Shields was also known for giving “the best hugs,” Mayberry added, because she would squeeze tight and everybody loved it.

Does Sierra's Church offer a retreat center for its members? Perhaps she may have gone to clear her head. Has LE gone thru her computer and phone records as well as her banking records ?

Did they mention checking if she flew out anywhere? Maybe she didn't go back to her job as FA, but maybe she non-revved (standby) to a random destination. I would assume they would check the passenger lists, and her employee ID, but saw no mention of this. She also could have bought a cheap ticket on her own & flew somewhere. Harder to search that.

Also, have they checked the East River and the airport surroundings? I wish they would show the public video evidence.

IMO the "no info" is the standard in NY MP cases.

The snow storm didn't help. Queens got over 2 feet of snow.
