NY NY - Sneha Ann Philip, 31, New York City, 10 Sep 2001

We'll never know a) because 23 years have gone by and b) her husband has already remarried with a new life on the west coast and probably doesn't need to dredge up any aspect of their relationship that could be called into question (including her staying at hotels to avoid confrontation regarding her behavior) and c) her parents kept their honour because they got their wish that their daughter died a hero rather than a brilliant doctor with substance abuse issues etc. and a maybe sexual orientation that is taboo in their culture and d) they are old and no one wants to cause them grief and unwanted focus at this stage of their lives.
BBM: Sneha's father passed away a few years ago and I'm told her mother is in an assisted living home now.

I think about this disappearance too much

I agree. Literally no trace of her, dead or alive, 23 years later. What sequence of events could have led to that? None of the possible explanations make sense.

They’ve only identified small % of remains from DNA. Still chance she is amongst remains.

I used to think Sneha had died in the towers but reading over these boards has changed my mind and I think she was killed the night before. The remains lower down have mostly been identified and that's where she would have been if she'd gone into the towers. I don't think they would have let someone run in and doctors aren't rescue workers. Emergency responders would have been bringing the injured out if there were any. In a crisis or war doctors are tending to the injured, not rescuing them. And there's the missing shopping bags.

I wouldn't call 60% a small number, but agree with you that there's a chance she could have run to the towers and be among the unidentified remains.

What's fascinating to me is that there is also a chance she met other fates - especially being that rare person who runs away and successfully STAYS lost or having met foul play at the hands of someone who destroyed or concealed her remains extremely well. There's no evidence of any of the three being correct at this time, but there's a chance evidence of any of them will be revealed in the future.

Many of the identified were not ID"ed by DNA but personal possessions, clothing, etc.

Agree - referring uk the 21,900 “remains/samples” yet to be identified …

About 40% — roughly 1,103 — of victims of the World Trade Center attack remain unidentified, according to according to a news release from the mayor’s office.

And -
With the emergence of new DNA technology, scientists have been working to connect more than 21,900 remains to individual victims in addition to testing samples collected from items found at the site, victims' relatives, or other remains.

The family changing the narrative is odd. It's hard to know because of her disappearing so close to 9/11. Could it have been an honor killing that was covered up? So many questions. I also find it suspicious when family members act like the missing person doesn't exist. It could be because they want to believe she died a hero, but could there be another reason?

Narrative: Chalk it up to her family being desperate.

No on the honor killing, her family is Christian. NYPD was confident if she were murdered prior to events of 9/11 her body would have been found.

Maybe Sneha was murdered prior to the attacks on the WTC and her body buried somewhere in NYC. Just my opinion.

Have you ever been to Manhattan? Your supposition is almost impossible there.

I have often thought over the years that her remains could have ended up in a dumpster. Because bodies are found in dumpsters, it seems logical that bodies could go to the landfill without being discovered (and have been found there in some cases).

Could the dumpster have been far enough that garbage pickup would have continued normally or so close that the burning and chaos could have covered up an odor? I continue to follow this story because there’s no clear answer, it is a great mystery.

Anything is possible. But garbage truck drivers actually look at what's going into the truck. Many bodies are found that way. IIRC it's because they're heavier than most garbage so something heavy would be checked out. She was 135#.

I hope we get some updates one day

The Lobby video has never been released to the public so it's hard to say if the bags would have been seen. There was no video of her coming into the lobby. Whoever it was in the video had entered through another entrance and IIRC, it was not covered by a camera. The woman, dressed like Sneha, exited the building in a hurry after the aircraft struck the WTC.

How do we know there was no evidence of the woman coming into the building? Maybe she entered the night before on the 10th or even earlier than that and it just wasn't Sneha. And the woman on CCTV exited the building after checking her mail, if Detective Stark remembers correctly, then left the building minutes before the first tower would be hit.

They don't talk about her anymore. I think that ship has sailed for them. I wouldn't be surprised if she was ID'ed and her name not released. She has already been declared and 9/11 victim and rehashing her story has to be old for the family. Plus her mother is very elderly, she may not be all there anymore so it is solely up to Ron. And he has his own family now out in California. JMO

Her Charley Project page is still up and updated as late as 2019, so I think she is still a missing person. Sneha's name is listed along with the questionable victims of 9/11. Because Sneha's family spent years fighting for her to be declared a victim of 9/11, I doubt they would decline to have her name released especially if it takes suspicion off the brother and husband that some still have.

I think it was less than 5 years ago that the mother and brother responded to enquiries and they don't mind sharing as long as your pushing whatever narrative it is they want, which seems to be remembered as dying as a do gooder in the 9/11 attacks... not just another 9/11 victim, but a heroic one.

I believe the father has passed. The mom is very elderly and I am sure you are right about people not wanting to rehash what the mom seemed to be in denial about, at least publicly. I don't know about after she passes though. I don't think the husband was privy about what Sneha was up to, so I don't know how much he would have to add other than what his PIs and LE found. It seems like he was finding out on the day of her court date the details of what had been really been going on at her workplace.
