When did she call the police? Is there a time?

Only what MMQC has said, prior to being vetted. Awaiting that step for now, but I am guessing that's what the posts are based on.

As far as the the unique heart shaped diamond engagement ring is concerned, a friend familiar with this case, gave a ride to a friend of "the BF" and he stated that he spoke with the BF and he said the he got the ring back. I can only think of a few ways in which this could of happened. Perhaps, someone else on this forum can shine more like on this particular incident?

So if police were called on Saturday night it could be a 'state of mind' based decision, as well as she is not home, had a fight, etc.

I am just thinking I would call the police no matter what under those circumstances - fight, MMQC and Family told about it and searching for her, cannot locate Sylvia.

I would definitely be checking on accident reports.

Hi, ASWDeerHunter. Well, given how little we actually know at the moment, I see at least four possibilities on the table, all of which are completely speculative and unsupported by fact:

(1) The fight was an ending of the relationship and SL gave it back before she fled.

(2) SL returned it to him at a later time, suggesting she may have created a new identity for herself in another part of the country.

(3) Someone else had it (either given to them by Sylvia or taken by them during foul play) and returned it to the BF anonymously, knowing he'd want it back.

(4) The BF recovered it during foul play.

Just a thinking exercise and JMO.

Sylvia was extremely predicable in as she was so straight lace you could set you clock by her. She lived with her parents and when she did go out, she said were she was going and when she'll back back on the money. Grade A student, deans list constantly, no cavities etc.
The night of the incident, the police were called after Eva returned from the Mall and not seeing Sylvia.
As far as the overall search has now proceeded, All mental hospitals in the U.S. were checked, passport office for a match, all airport, cruise ships, charters, any means of transport out of the U. S. were checked. All prisons, missing or unidentified bodies/coroner dept all states. To this present time all rocks have been turned.

This is all true, I'm waiting for someone else to chime in with the exact details.

Wow. Is the investigation in possession of DNA to check against (unidentifiable) Jane DOEs?

My next avenue for inside info is to reach out to the sisters in the Wagner College Sorority in which SL was involved. I think this vein of information would be priceless, also memory lane has agreed to let "us" create a site for SL.

--This is hard to tell because it is almost like third hand information for you (friend of a friend of a friend). --But several possibilities come to mind.

• If the ring was of great value or sentimental value because it was a family ring –BF/F many have forced it off her hand that evening in a fight. And she fled.

• There is a strong feeling (felt or feared) about the BF/F being capable of harming Sylvia. I wonder was the BF/F uncaring to her, did he ever harm her before? Possibly they were not a “happy couple” who had fights like everyone does, but worked it out afterwards?

• Sylvia broke off the engagement and gave the ring back and left. BF/F didn’t mention it.

• Sylvia mailed it back.

IMO (in my opinion)

Did she maintain contact with these friends after graduation? The memory lane page is a great idea. Did she have additional close friends nearer to home?

Also, re your earlier posts, is the investigation in possession of her medical records?

Charles came over to the residents around 5pm to see a movie Sylvia at a cinema about 20 min away. The theater was were Crazy Eddies was off Richmond Ave just south off the Staten Island Mall. Charles returned to the house approx. 10:30 stating that during an argument Sylvia had thrown her glasses against the dash board of the car and ran off. Eva Lwowski called the 122pct and tried to report a missing person but could not because see wasn't missing for 24 hrs. yet. Eva then got in the car and drove around the Staten Island Mall, but didn’t see her. A close family friend had also taken a ride around the Mall to look, but saw nothing. The following day, Eva went to 122 pct to make a formal missing persons report and the police basically said she was over 21 and didn’t really spend to much time or resources in locating her. A week or two later the family hired a privet investigator and am not sure of the outcome of that investigation except a different version of her running off came out. Charles first said that at a stop sign, in the heat of an argument, she fled the car. The P I's version was that during a traffic jam, she then fled the car. The days and weeks following her disappearance, Charles wouldn't answer and more questions concerning Sylvia.

ASWDeerHunter, could you clarify the order of events BBM (bolded by me) above? The writing process sometimes makes these things confusing, but I'd like to get the correct order in my mind before committing it to memory.

I'm sorry, it was after Eva returned from the Mall that she called the 122pct. Except my apologies.

So - based on DeerHunter's statements about- Sylvia living at home and letting her parents know when she was going out and when she'll back back - Her Mom called the police after searching for Sylvia herself that evening.

And was told she had to wait 24 hours to file missing person report, and she filed 24 hours later.

I would have done the exactly same thing.

Yes, very scary predicament during pre-cellphone life, right Rose?

I'm not ready to let any option go at this point. Certainly, not "depressed" on the PR (Police Report).

IF mother had been concerned with publicity alone due to harming SL's future job prospects, etc., as well as was supposedly mistrustful of LE, why did she call the police prior to her being missing a full 24 hours? Had she observed recent changes in Sylvia's behavior that led her to call so quickly, so early?

I had the same question about the BF/F and why he went to people's houses so soon.

Was there any known history of violence on the part of BF/F?
