I remember having arguments with my husband before we were married. We would stay away from each other for at least one day to cool off. Without cell phones, in order to get back on track with our relationship, one of us had to make the first move and approach the other.

I have a feeling that the fight they had this night was not your average argument. Hence the fact that after several hours he went to her parents house. Also the fact that the mother tried to file a report that night.

Makes me wonder what SL could have said to the BF during the fight. Or even something SL might have said to her mother while getting ready to go to the movies.
Maybe she made a statement to the BF about running/leaving etc. that would cause him to think maybe she was serious and say "hey I better not wait until tomorrow to patch things up with her just in case".

Without knowledge of their past relationship it is hard to speculate. History has a way of repeating itself, did they have fights often, did they break up often or was this the first time?

I'm also confused where the bus story is concerned. Did SL tell the BF she was going to take a bus somewhere?

I am thinking it was planned, Odyssey, but it's an intuition on my part, not based on the facts. I think her reaction would have been to be crazy mad if he sat through a movie with her, all the while planning to end it. Or maybe the movie didn't happen and he spent the whole time trying to calm her down bc they had the big talk and he let her down. I really don't know. I may be working into it backwards, bc my sense of SL is that she felt left completely alone that night, dumped in every sense of the word. Do you have any thoughts on this?

Yes, but I can't express them without commenting on posts that are not yet verified... I will as soon as I can...

ASWDeerHunter-would you have any possible idea if it was customary for Sylvia to return home from a night out by 10-10:30? Even at that age, my parents would have preferred that I would be home by 11:00. I wonder if this would account for BF/F's rush to speak to Sylvia's parents that night? Why wouldn't he call Sylvia's friend instead of going to her house, thus stopping his search for her? I can see why he wouldn't call her parents, though.

-

bbm - Wonder about this too - maybe they said they would be back after the movie on that particular evening if he picked her up, and and stopped in, and saw her parents?

Maybe the movie theater was in close enough proximity to the two addresses and it was easier to drive to GF rather than stopping at a phone booth?

Curious about his (BF/F) demeanor, attitude, manner at both houses that evening.

Woman going down ... been fighting the good fight all day, friends, and there isn't a brain cell left in my head. Have a lovely Saturday. Will be checking in throughout the weekend when I can :)

Ha! --Not too many brain cells left, either... Great posting with everyone, today (yesterday)!

ASWDeerHunter, when you're back on, can you verify -- if you know -- whether Eva went to Wagner to search for SL after the disappearance, and if she did, where it fits in the timeline?

Ok maybe I can get it said like this Maybe the B/GF could have taken her to Wagner campus.

In speculation on (VI in waiting) comment this morning: So then (if I am reading into this correctly) there may be an indication (or strong hunch) that Sylvia was either dropped off, or picked up by someone else and brought back to Wagner campus that evening? That has been my strong feeling in this.

- School campus would have been open as it was the first week after labor day?

If this was a break up by the BF/F, it could explain the hearsay about the ring. She may have thrown the ring and left her glasses? And, this piece may not have been revealed that night by the BF/F.

The events leading up to this night, and any specific recollections around it may hold some critical clues. Like "depressed" could be indicative of a troubled, rocky relationship?

I am thinking about BF/F's statement that she threw her glasses against the dashboard.

I wonder if the glasses were broken.

Maybe the Best friend took Mom to Wagner to look for Sylvia JMO

Now that "M" is verified - I initially thought maybe he had broken off the engagement, but based on the statement that BF/F seemed angry when he arrived at MMQC's place (as opposed to apologetic, guilty, or concerned), I'm thinking it was more than likely a spur of the moment fight - like maybe he wanted to go to a motel and she wanted to go home...

I also wondered if BF/F said she threw her glasses against the dashboard because he needed to explain the fact that the glasses were broken. (Although I don't know if the glasses were broken).

To the Verified Insiders: Would you say Sylvia was a trusting person? If she did get out of the car, would she have accepted a ride from someone? I know hitchhiking was common then, and it might have been easier than waiting for the bus....

Thanks, Odyssey. That makes sense to me. And those good questions may help us get to the truth. I'm hoping ... The feasibility of her accepting a ride is crucial.

I am confused on the other point though: How do we know MMQC has been verified? I haven't seen a post on this ... I thought it was still up in the air. Don't we have to wait for a post from Bessie/Kat?

She is verified now, it says so underneath her screen name where it used to say "Registered User". :)

Yes, but after she stormed out of the car, why assume she was missing and go to people's houses to let them know so soon...

Similar question as Why did mother go to police so soon...

OK, I'm frustrated reading all this not and not saying anything.....

I think it was to establish an alibi. For the BF/F that is....

Congrats on your verification, MMQC! When you catch your breath -- after the holiday if need be -- I would love it if you could clarify the above post, which was a response from you to Odyssey. Why do you think the mother (or someone else?) thought the BF/F would need an alibi? an alibi for what? for something that happened to SL?

What would that alibi be? Are you talking about the story in which SL runs from the car? Or the later visit to the house? What is the alibi?

And why would the mother help alibi the BF/F? Wouldn't it be in her interest to find out what happened to SL before covering for anybody?

As you can see, I'm super confused here ... any help will be appreciated.
