When I get more time I will research Sylvia Alice Lwowski + Wagner College. Also Wager College Alumni + Sylvia Alice Lwowski. Hopefully some of her friends from college will do the same :) hoping/praying.

Rose-I hope you won't become irritated with my perspective here-you have such a smart, logical thought process and mine tends to be more emotional and it's starting to show (lol). What I am afraid of is that impulsive actions will serve to ruin any hope of some kind of resolution for Sylvia's loved ones. There won't be any resolution until LE finds her, I think. It just occurred to me to wonder whether or not she has been officially declared deceased, for legal purposes-does anyone know if that is typically done after so long?

Been dealing with a wonky internet connection these past few days but am going to try and sneak a few posts into this busy convo :)

BBM: My understanding of this may be dated, but I seem to recall something like seven years being a requirement? Someone has to initiate it to make it happen; it's not automatic. And I am not sure whether "legally dead" is enough to warrant a homicide investigation (though it may be required). I think the purpose of "legally dead" is more to let a spouse collect life insurance and do some other things, like maybe sell the "legally dead" person's business, possessions, etc.

Ok I just checked Google and this websleuth page came up first in a “past 24 hour” search. That’s really good. And the article referenced below came up as well which could be relevant, too. I wonder how LE and the DEP coordinate what they may find when they dredge a body of water.

The dredging of Jacks Pond, Great Kills SI is scheduled for 2014. I would think that might be a pond of interest given its close proximity to Sylvia Alice Lwowski’s neighborhood in 1975.
.
“An upcoming DEP capital project titled the Ramble Road project (SE803) is approaching a bidding process that will result in a large sanitary and storm sewer installation through part of the neighborhood. An effort to improve Jack’s Pond’s state is tied to the work, said Councilman Vincent Ignizio (R-South Shore).

Ignizio said the pond will be dredged to make it a better functioning and deeper pond, which will help limit the algae growth. He hopes the project will clean up the surrounding area, but said it’s very difficult to catch people dumping garbage.”

What if we attach her full name to everything we post about her, on here. Then when someone searches her name, maybe the most recent information (what we say one here) will stay at the top of the google search and eventually the rest of the misinformation stuff will filter to later pages. Not sure if I'm asking this question in the right way, just random thoughts I guess. I'm still here with work haven't had time to research stuff but still hoping we receive more information on her SOON.

Are we sure this is not "impulsive" on our parts? Does anyone know why we always use "SL?" Is it for writing convenience (abbreviation)? Or due to TOS?

Also, I think we are kidding ourselves that we are not involving the BF/F's name in this if we go this route. Anyone who wants to know his name can (1) go to the engagement announcement posted in thread one or (2) follow the links to any of the other places we talk about repeatedly here (CP, YouTube). So isn't this fanning the flames -- walking right into the open arms of those who want to make his name known?

And what impact would that have on any possible investigation? Might any perception by him of a witch hunt (which he can certainly find on this thread, IMO) and a subsequent emotional reaction from him cause him to stay clammed up?

Personally, I'm for laying low. I think this is out of our league -- playing with fire.

Interesting! There is no telling what they'll find in that pond-I am not sure they will find our girl there, but you just never know!

bbm: Something to think about, GBMG. We are not to name and sleuth the BF/F is my understanding. And, the WS information trail is more layered. I knew when the CP and Youtube busted a move that it was not a good move and speaks to the witch hunt. You may be right on, in that one may find that perception on this thread, too. -Good words of caution to the wise.

bbm: And last week Charlie Project told GBMG she would be updating SL's case on 7/24/13.

In today's blog she says "I haven’t updated the last few days. I’ve been lazy. Sorry." I think we have to keep in mind that she does this outside her day job. It seems from this post that we may be one of many asking for updates, for any number of reasons, so let's see what happens. She seems to be in the middle of a transition, as she's starting to take donations to work on the site. Maybe she wants to make it her day job. Don't worry, I won't let it go.

Good post....like I said it was just some random thoughts, I think with Sylvia we can use her full name because this is a thread about finding her, not sleuthing her, yes anyone can read the B/F's name but at least on here we can not state his full name unless we are relating info about the wedding announcement....I think :) but then again not sure of many things.

I don't want to give her a hard time; I am convinced that she is in the business of doing the right thing, as we hope to do here-but that information has got to come down, as soon as possible.

I'll dial it down a notch with the CP even though they really should check their facts. The issue is really who amped it up, and why.

bbm: Absolutely!

BBM: Ditto, Skeet! I'm ashamed to say I've never read the TOS ;) I don't even know where to find them! It's probably time I looked. I hope that post didn't feel like an attack. I didn't mean it that way at all.

I didn't feel that way, hence the smiley face. I feel we all share a common bond on here and we work well together. Just hope in someone way we can figure out what happened to Sylvia. We connected with Sarah, and all though her case was sad we were still there when her case was closed. Maybe again, together, we can do what we can to help bring closure to the Lwowski's.

Good -- you just never know when the words leave your mouth how they read when they're not connected to you anymore :) I completely agree re all your other thoughts.

I read the TOS last night ... amazing number of ways to screw up that I never even thought of before! OT, but I think the main reason I don't go scouting around is how easy it is to get lost for hours in other threads. Found myself deep in one about a couple from 1976 found dead but never ID'd. It reminds me how many people out there suffer with this kind of story in their lives. Every story is poignant, every story is unique, every story creates a hole that reverberates for generations. Yes, I hope for closure for all of them.

Not many on today, thinking of Sylvia, nothing new to add though.

FYI: This announcement & thread was posted today.

Websleuths vs. Tricia Griffith
Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

Sometimes lawsuits come in waves…
I really wish Steely Dan would remove the ‘join the discussion at Websleuths’ from his video paraphrasing Tricia’s Radio Program, and the unverified details of disappearance from the Charlie Project. The naming of someone who is not an official POI is against WS TOS. The intentions of the video are clear and If Steely Dan wants to leave himself legally exposed, fine, but the responsibility should rest solely on his actions and Production Company.

WOW! Thanks for the link to the announcement Rosemadderlake! I probably would have not known about the lawsuit unless you posted that link here as I never go into the Jury Room.

I agree with you on the video. When I saw it it I became concerned. IMO, it sounded like an accusation.

Unless it comes straight from the horses's (LE) mouth that they never questioned the BF/F it would all be considered hearsay. We need facts not hearsay!!

  • #359
No one spoke out publicly for Sylvia Lwowski for over 35 years, and that includes more than simply one individual.

So ... now you see it, now you don't! That was quite the little dust storm, but you'd never know it :) Wish it was that easy to clean my house.
