Crowd, defense thin in Pelosi's other cases

It was an unfamiliar scene for Daniel Pelosi when he returned to Suffolk County Court in Riverhead yesterday. No crowds, no throng of reporters, not even a defense lawyer.

Appearing at a court conference on a 16-count indictment that includes charges of attempted intimidation of a witness and attempted jury tampering, Pelosi, wearing an olive suit and handcuffs, was surprised to learn he did not have representation.

Gerald Shargel and Paul Bergman, the Manhattan attorneys who defended Pelosi in his recently concluded murder trial, do not represent him on the new charges.

In addition, Pelosi's long-time attorney, Edward Burke Jr. of Sag Harbor, informed the court by phone yesterday that he too would not take the case....

PELOSI THOUGHT CHARM WOULD GET HIM OFF: DAD

By KIERAN CROWLEY

December 17, 2004 -- Danny Pelosi's heartbroken father, Bob Pelosi, said he believes his son genuinely thought he would be acquitted because he could charm the nine women on the jury.
"With the character my son has, he thinks he can woo any woman in the world," said Bob, who reluctantly gave prosecution testimony that helped convict his son.

In his dilemma, the dad consulted his parish priest — who told him he had to tell the truth or face the consequences.

Bob said he does not want to even think about the possibility that his son is as guilty as the verdict declared him to be. ...

NUPS 'BARRED'
by Kieran Crowley

Danny Pelosi wants to wed his fiancee before he's sentenced next month for killing financier Ted Ammon, but officials said there will be no behind-bars wedding bells for the imprisoned murderer.
Pelosi — representing himself now that his high-priced attorneys have apparently abandoned him — appeared in court yesterday and asked Suffolk Supreme Court Justice Robert Doyle to allow his fiancée, Jennifer Zolnowski, to visit him.

Zolnowski, the mother of Pelosi's young son, is barred from the Suffolk County Jail in Riverhead because of her alleged role in Pelosi's scheme to assault the jailhouse snitches whose testimony helped convict him of Ammon's murder, prosecutors said.

Jail officials said the ban would remain in place, throwing cold water, instead of rice, at Pelosi. ....

Pelosi's plea for jail nups

Seeks lift of gal's ban

By BRIAN HARMON
DAILY NEWS LONG ISLAND BUREAU CHIEF

Danny Pelosi wants to ring in the New Year with a new wife.
Pelosi, found guilty Monday of murdering millionaire banker Ted Ammon in 2001, asked Suffolk County Court Judge Robert Doyle yesterday for a Jan. 2 jailhouse wedding.

Problem is, fiancée Jennifer Zolnowksi, 28, can't set foot inside the jail.

Suffolk County Sheriff Al Tisch banned Pelosi's gal from visiting the killer after the Center Moriches woman was accused in October of helping Pelosi try to scare off witnesses....

Isn't it romantic? What every little girl dreams about...A jailhouse wedding between a convicted killer and an unindicted coconspiritor who already has a baby by the two-time loser. Yeeesh!

Most women find him charming? What picture are they looking at? He's smarmy looking. That woman has a screw loose. He kicked her out of his house so he could sell it and she's still standing behind him. YUCK!

A most pedestrian murder
This local case drew national attention, but it was hardly up there with the greats

December 19, 2004

A while back a TV comic touted a routine that went something like this. "Holland reports heavy rain and flooding. Dikes threatened. It's the same old story. If you've got a problem, blame it on the minorities."

The murder of Ted Ammon on Center Lane in East Hampton in 2001 got off to a similar start when, early on, it was reported that Ammon had been seen on the "gay" beach at Two Mile Hollow. What we had, of course, was a "gay" murder. You got trouble, blame it on the minorities. (Albeit, on Two Mile Hollow beach gay men and women are hardly in the minority.)...

ALMOST PARADISE: The East Hampton Murder of Ted Ammon
by Kieran Crowley

The writer (who covered the trial) was on tv this morning talking about the case and pushing his book, due next month.

He takes on Generosa who apparently threatened Ted with the interesting words: "I will have you killed." He also says that she was sexually abused as a child. The reason why she wasn't indicted was that she was already dying.

Sentencing of Danny Pelosi this Wednesday.

25 years to life after an emotional hearing during which the Ammons twins gave a victims' impact statement:

http://www.newsday.com/news/local/l...26,0,2631969.story?coll=ny-top-span-headlines

"I am devastated that the man I trusted the most murdered my father," said Gregory Ammon, who stood in the courtroom by his sister and Assistant District Attorney Janet Albertson. "I looked up to you like a father."

"I don't know how he can look at himself in the mirror knowing he destroyed our lives," said Alexa.

Pelosi continued to insist he was innocent. Turning toward the children, Pelosi told them he never lied to them and had been wrongly convicted.

"I never lied to you guys. I'm telling you to your faces that I did not kill your father," Pelosi said. "I will be back. I'm not done fighting ... I'm a victim of the media and a victim of circumstances."

I checked Amazon after reading the NYPost's exerpt. My question is, however, after following the case from day one, is why logic does not prevail. When I read about Generossa's turning her twins against their father, sharing her delusional paranoid fantasies with the children, it never became clear that it was she who wanted her husband dead as a doornail. Why is that never written about? My take is that she orchestrated the murder, she was the one who used Pelosi to kill Ted. MAybe Ol' Danny will spill the beans someday.

Nah! He's innocent. Just like Orenthal Simpson and Jeffrey MacDonald and Michael Skakel and Rabbi Neulander and oh, yes, Scott Peterson. All as pure as the plowed NYC snow. And you should see how filthy that is!
