What's the age of majority/consent in the UK? Can they force her to return to the US if she doesn't want to?

Police in London confirmed that Victoria Grabowski arrived at Heathrow Airport in the U.K. capital on Saturday, and she is "being treated as a missing person."
Police believe missing 16-year-old girl from Queens fled to London

Arrived Saturday now? Hmmm... London is 5 hours ahead of NY and the flight is 7 or 8 hours. If she bought her ticket that morning and went straight to the airport, she could have landed at Heathrow very late at night I guess. Not convinced we're getting all the right info re timings yet. Not that it matters, we know she's somewhere in the UK.

The age of consent for sexual activity in the UK is 16.

The law on sex
You can also live independently as a 16 year old. And her Polish citizenship gives her the right to live/work/study etc. in the UK (well, for a bit).

I was thinking that she's run off to be with this older man she's met online, but mentions of the group chat is making me concerned something culty could be going on. If it's the former, strange that none of the "group" has come forward.

"A teenage girl from Queens ran off from her house last weekend and flew to London, police said.

The girl, 16-year-old Victoria Grabowski, was last seen at about 10 a.m. at her home in Maspeth on Saturday, cops said.

Police believe she stole a credit card and used it to buy a flight to London that day, authorities said.

Victoria’s uncle, Arkadiusz Grabowski, told qns.com that she may have been lured to the U.K. by an older man that she met online.

He told the website that her parents found a number of texts between Victoria, the older man, and several other people.

“The texts show that she got fascinated with London and wanted to move there,” Arkadiusz said.

The NYPD is working with police in London to bring her back to the United States."

"She was an honor student, a very good girl, she didn’t have boyfriends, didn’t go out. Very quiet honor student," he said.

He said her parents are concerned she may have gone to London to meet an older boy her mother saw her chatting with online, Arkadiusz Grabowski said. When her mother asked who the person was, the teen answered, "It's nobody, just a friend."

Investigators told the family that Victoria paid for her ticket in cash.

The police are saying she used a stolen credit card but the uncle is saying she used cash.

It can take a while to get text data from the service provider. Even with a warrant, it takes some time.
