NY - Woman abducted in Toyota minivan, photo stills, Brooklyn, 21 Apr 2023 *resolved*

I am also confused on why they are blurring her face. Do they know her identity? Are there any missing persons reports for a woman in her 20s from this area? Has anyone come forward and said "Hey that looks like so and so and I also can't get in touch with her?" If they do know her identity, why haven't they released it? If they don't know her identity, why not release her photo to try and find her identity?

All rhetorical questions (unless someone has an answer, and then I'm all ears!) but just an odd situation. I'm worried for her and hope she's OK but definitely an odd situation.

If she is a vulnerable woman whose identity should be protected, blur the face. If it is confirmed that this was a random abduction where the woman's identity is unknown, un-blur the face.

Have police identified the woman? Until then, I suppose caution is needed.

If they don't know who the woman is, who is offering the reward?

I’ve lived in two different cities with (different) large religious communities in which women dress modestly - and I totally clocked that outfit as ‘modest wear’.

It could look like “modest wear,” but in a deeply religious community, it’s highly doubtful that a woman would be walking alone in the middle of the night.

We know it could be a true stranger abduction, it could be a domestic dispute, it could be a family member grabbing her to get her home. It could be someone here illegally and a sex-trafficker grabbing her, or she could be a sex worker and this may be her pimp.

No one matching her description has been reported missing as of yet, according to LE at the 60th precinct.

I know that area well and was driving just a few blocks away from there today. That section of Stillwell Ave. is mainly commercial, with small businesses like delis. There is a housing project called the Marlboro Houses right where she was snatched. Fairly high crime but not awful. There’s a high school about a block away.

There should be multiple cameras as well, including multiple speed and red light cameras, which are everywhere in NYC.

Hope this ends happily. Hoping but not so certain.

So... was there or was there not a gun involved? I swear to god I remember talk about this being at gunpoint, but now I can't find those posts.

I wish that there was more information provided about resolving this alleged abduction. No names needed.

I agree -- they could have given a very surface-level explanation without revealing any names or personal details (i.e., 'the woman became separated from her group after a night out' or 'the man was a family member of the woman who was concerned for her wellbeing').

Like others, I'm glad it was resolved and that she's OK, but I'd like some more details...no names or identifiers, of course, but something that explains it and gives us reason to not worry...JMO.

Perhaps members of a insular community that eschews secular and LE involvement, particularly in family, child-rearing, and domestic violence matters.
