A 3-year-old girl was killed in a car fire in Queens on Sunday night. The fire was reported on Baisley Boulevard just before 9 p.m. The girl was in the back of the vehicle.

The doors of the car were chained shut.

A 2008 Audi sedan caught fire just before 9 p.m. Sunday on Baisley Boulevard. It's less than a mile from where police say the child lived with her mother. A propane tank was found in the car and may have fueled the fire. But there's no word yet on an official cause or motive.

The dad was locked in a bitter custody dispute with the girl’s mom — and had been threatening to hurt their angelic toddler right before he allegedly left her burning inside the car that had been rigged up as a fiery prison,

Back doors chained shut. That tells you everything you need to know about this guy. He absolutely intended for his baby girl to die, and he didn't want anyone to be able to help her by getting her out of the car. I hope this won't become a trend.

I wonder if he had thought that he might be injured also. Bet not. He's got fire in his future, and it will be eternal, imo.

I can't get over the sheer cruelty of his act.

Police: 3-year-old taken from Valley Stream home, died of injuries from car fire

The NYPD is calling the car torching a homicide, resulting in the death of 3-year-old Zoey Pereira. Nearby, police discovered a badly burned 39-year-old man, but they have not yet said if that man is the girl's father. He was hospitalized in serious but stable condition. Nassau County police say they had been looking for the child and her father prior to the discovery.

Nassau police say they responded Sunday night to a Valley Stream home, where the child's father lives, after reports the girl had been taken from there.

Valley Stream neighbors say they didn't often see the girl or her father, as they mostly kept to themselves.

I will NEVER understand these cases. Why do you have to torture your child? If you are so set on their mother never seeing them again why does the child have to BURN to death?! If you are going to do a murder suicide, why does it have to be this way? I mean there ARE "humane" ways to kill people if you must do it. Why do they pick the most horrific ways. I get the rage toward an ex-spouse, believe me, but I can't comprehend it getting SO deep and SO vile that you're not only willing to torture your own child to death, but spend the rest of your life in prison.......how is that a "win?" I mean, he had to know he would get caught!

She was absolutely beautiful. What a horrendous piece of human garbage. I will never understand why an innocent little child ever has to suffer in a conflict between parents. My heart aches so badly for the mother.

TBH, I hope he lives. And has to endure painful skin grafts and festering infections in his burns for the rest of his miserable life. Living with these types of burns can be positively awful - I have heard folks say they'd rather be dead than to live with that pain.

I said that because I don't know what else to say. I really don't. My heart aches for those who knew and loved Zoey.
