October trial date CANCELLED

Just a note on the delay. This is not uncommon in a murder trial, much less one with some much media coverage. It is true AL needs time to catch up on ALL of the discovery and get appropriate motions filed, lots of other legal stuff. It works well for both defense and prosecution. Not to worry, prosecution will have everything together too. It also takes some media spin out of it. If you have noticed, no one really pays much attention to the matter in the news anymore, too much other news worthy stuff going on. This is important for the "fair trial" aspect. However, if the check charges are handled ahead of time, this will give perp a criminal record, that could but may not, enhance her sentence. (I am not sure on this aspect since she is already charged with the murder charge, and still think she will get life or pretty darn near it. Will need one of the lawyers here to confirm or deny use of check charge convictions for sentencing.)

Just my opinion, but what difference does it really make when they go to trial? Casey is already locked up. It's not like she's going anywhere. Let them take all the time they need. The evidence is what it is and the state gets to use this time to prepare their case as well.

Hey, plus it gives JB more time to find the REAL ZFG and those pesky dead squirrels that climbed up into KC's engine.

She needs to get out of the county jail. She is VERY comfortable. Has access to computer with Baez....many male visitors from his firm. Heck, I bet she has a TV by now...I know OJ did because he was isolated ... they let him have one. She obviously has access to a hair straightener also

Take her away from her creature comforts and we will see the real "Casey". She is WAY too happy there. She belongs in state prison.

I see JB filing motions with his new legal assistance on the hardship of preparing his case with her in State prison. Of course, we know he needs her help to prepare....??!!

I figured this would happen. Baez claimed that everyone would understand...now I at least do... They need more time to think more like Casey....LIE, and CHEAT to get her off...
If she was so innocent...they would be ready now..

Exactly! That's what I was going to comment on.

I guess that compelling story that was going to allow everyone to say, "Ah! Now it all makes sense" is taking a lot longer to develop than originally thought?

Hey, plus it gives JB more time to find the REAL ZFG and those pesky dead squirrels that climbed up into KC's engine.

The crazy thing about JB dragging this out now, is that he claimed for months that he was holding the missing pieces to the puzzle. He told us over and over that when KC gets her day in court we will all understand why she refused to open up to LE, why she didn't call 911 and why she wouldn't speak up for all those months. Truly makes me say Hhmmmm... now, that he isn't asking for a speedy trial. :waitasec: :behindbar

Did Caylee turning up in the muck at the end of the street throw a wrench in his defense? Was he planning on getting up there in front of the jury and say "ladies and gentlemen this is quite the story LE is asking you to believe about my client, but ladies and gentlemen, the bottom line is they didn't prove my client killed anyone. (Pointing to KC who has on her best law student outfit.) :book: They can't prove my client killed anyone because her baby daughter, that she loves so much she was willing to sit in jail for months on end, to keep her baby safe, is alive and well. Just as soon as you acquit my client, she will be able to go out and find her baby. She will do the job LE didn't do months ago and that is, look for an alive Caylee Marie." :angel2:

Then KC could hire the same detective that OJ hired to look for Nicole's killer, to search for Caylee Marie. While KC goes back to the stripper pole while searching for Zanny the Nanny. :genie:

My concern is that over time things can happen to the witnesses and even to evidence.
Some of KC's family who have given interviews are elderly.George threatened to commit suicide once.Car accidents, new jobs out of the country. the longer it is before a trial, the more chance something will happen.
I'm not suggesting that someone would DO something to any of the witnesses, but having lost a son ,and recently my mom,I can assure you, things happen .

I think that's exactly what he was going to do.JB had a bad 24 hours right after Caylee was found, but then he rebounded, just like his client. He just needed a few hours to come up with the new spin.

I'm sorry for your loss.

ITA with your post. Memories fade after time and witnesses may tell a slightly different story than they told at the time of the interview. An honest mistake in their testimony may be blown out of proportion by the defense. They'll try to make the witness out to be a liar.

By the time the trial gets here most of the witnesses will probably have moved on, gotten married, even had children and they won't want their lives turned upside down again by Casey. Especially if this trial is televised and the defense is allowed to delve into every aspect of their personal life that has nothing to do with Casey. Just picture Tony possibly engaged or married and having to relive personal details of his private life in front of a television audience.

YES! This is what I am concerned about. And I wonder if the SA has a stake in making sure that they can get the witnesses on the stand before memories become shaky, etc. If this trial is delayed until the spring or summer of 2010, that's two years after the crime. Will the SA's witnesses be in any shape to give testimony w/out saying......."I can't recall exactly" and having the transcripts of their interviews read back to them on the stand? I understand the Judge's caution here, at least I think I do, but I don't like it.
