In accordance with my own personal experience of cptsd, this poor child will have many, many different triggers. That's how traumatisation works. All the different senses - sight, smell, sound etc - will have their own triggers.
This poor child is possibly still healing physically. After that, I hope the mother can get her into qualified trauma therapy, because the sooner you try for psychological healing, the better. Especially with trauma - the longer you leave it, the messier it gets, the more triggers evolve, the more retraumatisation happens, the more difficulty a child has developing in other ways etc etc. I know of a qualified trauma therapist in the US, who is also a play therapist for traumatised children. So they do exist. But they have to be found and possibly paid for privately in the US. Sigh. It would be covered where I live.
100% psychological healing is probably not possible, but even 10% improvement would be better than nothing and I so hope this poor little girl can get that or far more. Sending prayers.
Interestingly, the part of the brain affected by trauma isn't too good at sorting out what happened in a dream, or in your imagination, or in real life. Have you tried trauma therapy
@Gemmie ? Maybe EMDR could help? It's supposed to be quite effective for one-off incidents. Though you may have a couple more triggers than earwigs. If you were to do trauma therapy, such triggers might come clear and then also be healed. Could improve areas of your life where you don't even know there's a problem, but afterwards it would be a :lightbulb: situation for you.
