Thanks for the link, tillicum. That's where I got my info. Didn't mean to post and run!

Another thought - maybe someone, either family or friends of mom who might not be in facebook, was following up as to the pregnancy and asked since she should be nearer to due date. You know, if my early premie theory is correct...When they heard of the situation, they felt the info should be mentioned to the authorities.

PS - I know it's legal to bury a body on your property in NC, as long as you follow some guidelines (not too close to a well or source of fresh water, for instance) and REGISTER said burial with the county. The person making the report could have been trying to close that loophole, nothing more.

But she said she had no idea she was pregnant. So idk if the premie theory can mesh with the parents narrative. The baby never saw the light of a hospital apparently. Why didn’t they try to revive the baby if she was alive for an hour? Why didn’t they immediately get mom and baby to a hospital after the home birth?

But if the baby was a surprise to the parents, how would another family member know if the parents didn't?

I know a family who legally buried their father on their property here in Ohio several years ago but IDK what the laws are today.

Colon said the parents told police they didn’t know they were pregnant. And he couldn’t say if the infant was premature.

“We’re only 72 hours into this investigation,” He said. “There’s lots of follow up with potential witnesses. The parents are cooperative at this current time, and we hope they remain cooperative with us.”

Did anything ever happen with this or did the parents just get away with murder? JMO

Baby discovered buried in backyard was stillborn, parents say
Wow, the baby's "burial site" looks more like a buried discarded pile of junk.

With an "undetermined" COD we'll never know what really happened but damn, parents didn't know about the pregnancy yet when the baby was born and allegedly not breathing their first thought was to bury it in the backyard like yesterday's trash?

How about calling 911? What if EMTs could have helped this poor baby to live? How could a parent - a mother especially - just decide that oh well, baby's not breathing, must be dead so let's bury it in the back yard?
