Multiple agencies continue investigation into killing of Tipp City mother

[…]

Tipp City Police Department Chief Gregory Adkins said multiple agencies, including the FBI, Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), Miami County Sheriff's Office, Tipp City Police Department and Miami County Prosecutor’s Office, are all working together to get answers into Flynn's death.

[…]

Neighbors spoke with Dayton 24/7 Now Reporter Jenilee Borek on Tuesday. Many of them said they do not know much, but described the neighborhood as being quiet and safe. Neighbors were feeling both grief and fear, and they described the family as a nice, Christian family.

"I did not sleep last night at all," Tia Turner, a neighbor and military veteran said. Turner said she owns firearms and has them in a safe place, but is making sure she is prepared. "Right now, we're just havin' a hard time to deal with what's going on in our neighborhood and dealing with such a sweet person who has gone too fast," said Turner.

Turner said that her kids played with Flynn's children, and Turner's daughter is in the same class as one of Flynn's daughters. Turner's kids did not want to go to school today, and she said the neighborhood will not be the same now.
[…]

Investigators secured the scene and collected evidence late into the night Monday night and continued Tuesday morning.
An autopsy was done Tuesday morning, and investigators are waiting for the full autopsy report, but are following up on any information the autopsy was able to provide.

Chief Adkins said investigators are confident that the evidence being collected will provide answers into what happened, adding that, "The family and the community deserve answers and the most thorough investigation possible.

The department understands the community’s concern regarding the identification of a suspect or suspects. We want to reassure the public that investigators are actively reviewing all tips, processing evidence, examining possible motives, and continuing scene-related investigations. While we remain committed to transparency, certain information must be protected to preserve the integrity of the investigation."

Dayton 24/7 Now requested the 911 call, but as of this story, Chief Adkins said the Miami County Prosecutor's Office had not authorized the release of the recording yet.

CBS News

Ohio teacher killed during home invasion, police say

Interesting that the article says LE was called to the house for the burglary and not the shooting. Article also says two shots were fired.

Was the 911 call before or after the shots?

At 2:30 am, presumably the entire family would be sleeping - how did AF encounter the burglar, rather than (or in addition to) CF? She heard noises and went to investigate on her own? (Seems unlikely IMHO) He went to investigate and she went to protect the kids and somehow encountered the burglar, who fled after shooting her without encountering CF?

What needs to be established:
Were there cameras/security at the house
Was anything removed from the house
What were the "signs of forced entry" and were there signs of a panicked exit as well
Are there vehicle tracks, footprints, other signs that someone broke in and then fled
Content of the 911 call - is it only about "there's someone in the house" or does it talk about shots being fired and AF being injured

Reading the headline, I was expecting her to be alone in the home. I'd be interested in hearing what sequence of events the husband reported, because it seems very strange they'd shoot her in the head and leave him alone. Not impossible, just strange.

Got on here thinking there would be more posts regarding this horrific murder. The poor children. It reminds me of the Amanda Blackburn home invasion and murder? That was beyond horrific as well and both parents were highly involved in a church and a lot of ppl thought the husband was involved but it was proven to be random. I have no feeling either way on this who can be involved. I read it in the NY Post last night and haven't read much else. I have myself, gotten up alone in the middle of the night when I heard a noise. My husband sleeps so soundly. I think hearing the 911 call could give more details. Looks like such a quiet cul-de-sac. I called some right from the get go (Jennifer Dulos case- that was in my town). And I called one completely wrong -- a woman who went for a run and was having marriage issues -- turned out to be completely random and not the husband at all. This one has me completely stumped.

Reminds me of Amanda Blackburn's case too.

I don't know, going into someone's home in the middle of the night to steal their things, while they are home, doesn't fit the burglary bad guy model. IMO Most of these crimes happen when the family is away at work, during the day, as an example. I've heard of bad guys reading local on-line obits to see funeral times and hitting houses then when everyone is away. They want to steal your things, not come in contact with you.

What stands out to me, in this moment, is who was injured/killed vs. not. Apparently the family was all in the home that included the victim, the husband and two children. Mom is dead, the rest of the family is not injured. IMO

We really do need LE to explain this point--how and WHERE was she killed.

I believe that Plunder Studios is permitted here on WS. She filed a public records request for the release of the 911 call.

Police: "Ongoing investigation" into Caleb Carl Flynn & Ashley Elizabeth Flynn - Tragedy in Tipp City, Ohio

On February 17, 2026, I completed a public records request form for all 911 call audio, incident reports, arrest affidavits, booking photos, body-cam videos, transport videos, dash-cam videos at any time for these individuals at this address:

Caleb Flynn & Ashley Flynn - [Redacted] Cunningham Court / Tipp City, Ohio

Susan Gostomsky
8:31 AM (2 hours ago)
to me

Today, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, the Tipp City Police Department Records Bureau Supervisor in Ohio told me:

"Good morning,

"As of right now, this is an ongoing investigation, and nothing can be released at this time.

"Thank you."

Yes, that will be interesting to know. I'm assuming there's a good reason LE is not releasing that info yet. In general, I would think the husband is the one that would concern the suspect(s), not the wife. This is terms of physical contact. It also sounds like we don't know who made the 911 call from the home. How terrible.

If you are there to steal "whatever" in the middle of the night, that is not a fun charge to face, however, murdering the homeowner over it? That was an insane escalation. IMO

I have a feeling this might be a case that will develop in many different directions. IMO

"Gonna be in Cunningham Court.

"Someone broke into the RP's [reporting party's] house.

"Unknown if they're still there. Garage door is open.

"RP & juvenille daughter are locked in a bedroom.

"Just a correction: The juvenilles are gonna be in their own rooms asleep currently.

"There was apparently a female shot in the head. Is not responding currently."

Plunder is an approved source for this case. She gets great documents. If someone listens to Plunder and there are any issues (she really is a hard working creator) let me know.

It would be incredibly bold and, in my opinion, unusual for a home intruder to come in to an occupied home, shoot the wife twice in the head*, and leave. If the victim was the sole target, why choose a time where she is likely to be right next to her husband? If the intent wasn’t to murder Ashley Flynn and no one else and leave, why start with that and what interrupted the rest of the plan?

The hinky-meter continues to go off

*early reports on the specifics could be wrong, but reporting is consistent that she alone was shot

The RP (reporting party) I'm assuming is the husband locked in a bedroom. THEN there is a correction that the juv daughters are in their own rooms sleeping. The wife (female) is shot in the head. Meanwhile, the RP is locked in the bedroom.

Let me think on this for a moment.... IMO
