Somebody said that Ashley had a sister. I only see pics of Ashley on her Father's FB no other child.

I believe Mingming is the mother.

I'm wondering if there's some post partum depression at play here. If there's a more recently born child it could be the issue with all the illness and the father taking time off as well. Just a guess at this point.

This news article says there are two daughters. http://www.ourtownnorthcanton.net/business-spotlight-angs-chinese-restaurant/

While he was in New York, the delivery driver for the restaurant had an accident and was off work. Liang filled in for awhile doing delivers for the restaurant. “If you think about, if that driver had not had an accident, I would not have met my wife and we would not have kids,” said Liang. The couple has two young girls.

Sorry, slime was my word. I am just frustrated. The actual quote was "green fluid". Perhaps the child had been sick and thrown up, or some food she had eaten caused the green color. An autopsy may tell more.

Sounds like bile. ☹

Watching the 11pm news, my word, this is sick. Showing pics of the girl and her dad, they looked so happy. I wager we will find out she was the one who was the abuser and maybe abused the dad too. Maybe he was afraid to call the police but that is no excuse, heck with her, I would have called anyways. Then at least he would be free and have the ability to mourn outside of jail

Ya, I wonder about that too. She doesn't look terribly upset/despondent/tearful in her mugshot after being arrested for knocking her 5-year old child across the head a couple times and murdering her. But then he doesn't appear that way either. SMH

Another thought - it struck me as odd when the male relative who was interviewed on camera mentioned that he hadn't seen Ashley for 4-6 months. Maybe they aren't a close family but it just seemed out of the norm to me. But then maybe this relative lives out of town so it could be nothing.

I don't know how cops can do it. It would be all I could so that they didn't have a few shiners for their mug shots.

Don't know if it has been posted but most people thought ashley was the younger sis but this states the opposite:

They got married in 2011, if what I am seeing on both their facebooks are correct. So she got pregnant not too long after with ashley. So the other sister how old is she? So the poster earlier who mentioned post partum might be spot on here. I wonder if the right lawyer would get her off on this due to ppd. I know I had it but I never took it out on anyone or anything I just sat depressed and cried alot, it never made me violent at all or blame the child for anything.

Now I'm getting confused. In the articles I've read, Ashley has an older sister. That would eliminate the possibility of ppd. Ashley would be the youngest, which is years past the considered time frame for ppd.

It's not that odd to me. I have always been pretty close with my relatives. Many only live 30 minutes away. But I often go 6 months or more without seeing them. We all are busy with our own lives.

As for the sister....there's just crappy reporting here, as usual. Below are two links and two almost identical quotes from each link....(My personal opinion is that the sister is younger. Their Facebook pages have pictures of Ashley but no other children. It doesn't look like either has updated their pages in a while which to me points to a younger sibling that wasn't born yet the last time they were posting pictures on Facebook.)

In the article you linked, a mother whose daughter is Ashley's OLDER sister's friend spoke to them.

I don't buy PPD.

I think this was the case of a violent, abusive woman. I have only read that the sister is older. Even if the sister is younger...it doesn't automatically mean ppd. I suspect there was a lot of abuse in that home. Not a psychosis induced episode, but long term abuse.

RBBM

Depression is an overwhelmingly common feature in maternal filicides, regardless of recent pregnancy. Most studies I've seen put the number at 60-70%, sometimes even higher with a small sample. A preschool child is most at risk of becoming a victim of filicide.

Obviously, millions of loving parents deal with depression and never harm their kids - just stating it's a commonality with mothers who murder their children.

Post-partum psychosis and depression are worlds apart both legally and clinically. Even if the mother is depressed, which is very common in mothers who murder their child(ren), it does absolutely nothing to absolve her of wrongdoing. Psychosis is far rarer in filicide cases than depression, anxiety, and/or personality disorders.

ITA - I think this will be a clear case of fatal maltreatment.
