STARK COUNTY
Chinese restaurant repeatedly closed for illness by parents charged in Ashley Zhao's death

http://www.wkyc.com/mb/news/local/s...ly-closed-restaurant-due-to-illness/385146247

I just got around to reading it too. The wife was unwell a lot, or she didn't want to go to work and the husband was run off his feet and apologetic. Idk what to make of it.

Do we know which one was the subject of a deportation order?

LOL tell the news to stop reading webslueths :)

I'm going to go on a limb here and say the wife might not be a American citizen. The husband can speak English and mentioned he has lived here for 20 years. Her English isn't well so I'm assuming she probably came here close to their wedding or maybe a few years before. Jmo.

This is a tragedy were a beautiful five years old lost her life at the hand of someone who should have been protecting her

As any of us ever worked seven (7) days a week from morning till night? long after the last customer has gone, they are still washing dishes and cleaning up the restaurant for the next day. Up probably at the crack of dawn to go to the market and start the prep work. Those tiny carrots, bits of broccoli and sliver of meat don't get cut by themselves, all this for probably minimum wage or less? Asian restaurants are on a very tight profit margin. Haven't you said once or twice that its cheaper to eat here than at home? and yet we question the very few days off they took, putting a sinister spin on it without knowing anything about their day to day lives

Asian culture is probably the furthest away from North American. They are very proud and driven to succeed. They do not want government handouts. They do not immigrate to take advantage of our benefits as most of the of the other immigrants do.

Everyone has a breaking point. This being said, it is extremely sad that her beautiful 5 years old was the one who died because of it. I am sure that regardless of what you think she looks like in her mugshot, it is something that will haunt her for the rest of her life.

My compassion is for the innocent child who was murdered. I will extend compassion to the "parents" when/if it is shown they deserve it. Thousands of people work back breaking hours you describe, and don't murder their children.

We are allowed to have opinions different than you and you are allowed to have opinions also. There is space for all of us. <modsnip>

It's JMO that it is VERY odd to put such personal information on business pages. Maybe it was a cry for help, maybe they have poor boundaries, maybe it means nothing. But it's put there are we are certainly allowed to freely discuss it.

Just remembered in the hearing this morning, the judge mentioned they needed a PD who can do capital cases. So the death penalty is on the table.

http://www.cleveland19.com/story/34...-citizen-victims-sister-in-protective-custody

"Mingming Chen, who is charged with murder in her youngest daughter's death, is not a U.S. citizen and her oldest daughter is in protective custody, according to police.

Jackson Township Police Chief Mark Brink said the FBI is working to find out if Chen is in this country legally."

"Ashley's parents gave police evidence that lead to her body inside their restaurant, Ang's Asian Cuisine, according to authorities."

im late but I am thinking mental illness? Asian culture is very insulated and still has a stigma for mental illness.

His wife seems to be sick an abnormal amount of time. Unless of course she has a illness but I don't understand why he wouldn't be going to work? Seems so odd. I know it means nothing. Just weird.

Does anyone else find it odd that on both parents FB there is no pics of the other little girl? In one you can see a child's arm but that is it. Probably more that are private. I get not wanting to put your child's pictures on fb but why post one child and not the other if that is the case.

That last sentence...I am curious if you know this woman personally?

We rarely know what is REALLY going on in someone else's mind. Even those who are closest to us. For me, I would never assume someone would feel remorse for killing their child. They SHOULD, obviously. But some people are just pure evil. I don't know enough about this woman to make an assumption about whether or not she will feel remorse or anything for killing her precious child.

I can only comment on how I feel. And I feel completely disgusted. This child trusted her parents to keep her safe. And they have both failed her in the worst way. It makes me sick.

That's the same impression I've gotten so far. So sad really. I feel very bad for this father. Yes he made a horrible choice, but I bet he felt totally helpless. The green fluid though. I've googled and it doesn't seem to be cerebral fluid, that's clear, no color. I wonder how do you beat someone about the head bad enough for green fluid to come out of their mouth? And what could it be?

Police say the mother accused of killing her daughter who was found dead in a Chinese restaurant is not a U.S. citizen.

Police say Liang Zhao is a legal U.S. citizen

police spokesman says her body was "found in a place you wouldn't look" and that authorities found her based on information received in a tip. [I thought I had read somewhere that a parent gave them info that led to finding the child?]

WKYC's Amani Abraham spoke with someone who knows the parents. She said her daughter went to preschool with Ashley's sister, who is in custody of Stark County Families and Job Services. (the sister is reported as a 6 year old now, per article someone posted above)

I was wondering the exact same thing. Neither had pictures of the 6 yr old---and only 1 or 2 of the deceased child.

Also, no friends or much of anything else either. Dad posted a lot of memes etc, but had no friends listed....odd

Do you think she might have been punched or kicked in the stomach area for that to happen?
Possibly, but a concussion can cause vomiting.

Concussion

A brain injury caused by a blow to the head or a violent shaking of the head and body.

How does it work if convicted and she isn't a legal citizen? Does the US keep her for length of her jail term? Tia
