OH OH - Beverly Jarosz, 16, Garfield Heights, 28 Dec 1964

  • #181
Just learned about this case on the Criminology podcast.

My problem with the theory that she let someone in is, if it wasn’t her boyfriend, why would she be upstairs changing in her bedroom leaving someone downstairs alone in her house? Maybe a workman, so it’s possible, but I find it unlikely (and I feel I tend to allow a pretty large range of what I’d consider “normal”). So that leads me to believe it was either the boyfriend, someone who got in through an upper window, or someone who got in earlier.

Have they ever addressed whether an upper window was open and whether someone could have climbed up? I’m going to assume her friend would have noticed a ladder.

The problem with the theory that someone got in earlier is they wouldn’t have been able to make the phone call to check if she was alone, if you think that call was connected.

The diary and the stalking/gifts suggest it was personal. Depends too whether she usually left her diary sitting out. Possible it was just a trophy if it was sitting out.
Hi Blaine! I'm not sure if you saw my earlier posts about this case but John Ferrato and I have been investigating this case now for 2 years intensely, emailing the detective on the case and many, many phone calls. Here's what I do know based on the countless hours we've been awake elbow deep in this case: I believe it is HIGHLY unlikely someone was waiting for her already before she got home; Reason being because of the Stachowicz caller who was most certainly the killer as well as no evidence to ever suggest someone was there before she was. Here's what I believe happened: I believe Beverly gets home at 12:30 ish and she comes in through the side door. She closes the door behind her, locks it and then proceeds to do whatever in the hour time frame before Barbara shows up. I then believe sometime between 1:15-1:20, the killer arrives. I believe he was someone either Beverly knew very well (think friend of the family) or someone of power (think uniform) that she felt she had to let in. Now, we know from the research that when Ted arrived home, he states that the side door storm door was unlocked and the inner door was open 45 degrees. He also states the back door was wide open, 90 degrees. Barbara Klonowski, the friend that was there to walk with Beverly to Margie's, states that the side storm door was locked when she arrived because she states she tried to open it. I think it's highly possible that the killer could have come in through the side door and left out the back door based on the angles of the doors and the unlocked/locked scenarios that are claimed both by Ted and Barbara. Barbara arrived there at 1:25 pm to which we know the killer was already in the home based on Barbara's testimony. Beverly last spoke with her grandmother around 1:20 and stated that Barbara was there? or on the way? according to grandma Vanek which she gave two different accounts of what Beverly said within days of the murder most likely because she was extremely traumatized. The side door was the most commonly used door of the Jarosz home and visitors came and went through that door. It was stated by Carol (via email with her) and other family members that Beverly under any circumstance would NEVER let anyone in the home while she was alone. She even had to call her father one time when the gas man needed to come inside. This particular bit of information is extremely important because it narrows the suspect field down by A LOT. We know there was no struggle downstairs and it was in the bedroom only. The location of this murder and the fact that TWO murder weapons were brought with the killer is HUGELY SIGNIFICANT. I've read the autopsy many, many times and I believe this murder was extremely personal to this person. The fact that this person knifed her face tells me that he not only wanted to just kill her but disfigure her as well. I am also certain that it was sexually motivated, not all of it, but some of it was. I could go on and on and on about this murder and everything we know about the gifts, the calls, the diary, the persons of interested publicly, the psychology behind who I think did it, etc.

If you search this on YouTube, you're going to have a lot of videos that are NOT accurate and some that are just completely thrown together and/or false. I have spent countless emails speaking with Carol to put the public rumors to rest and really get down to the nitty, gritty publicly available facts of this case. John and I actually run a Facebook page entirely dedicated to finding Bev's killer and keeping her legacy alive; We were on the news for NEWS 5 Cleveland in December 2024, just a short little segment speaking about what we're doing. We love talking about it and bringing awareness to this case and trying to solve one of Ohio's worse unsolved murders.
