"Someone close to Beverly's age (and to her), who was known to carry a knife and rope." Are we looking for an Eagle Scout or someone employed at a hardware store after school and/or on weekends at the time? I would think this clue would eliminate a female and perhaps her boyfriend at the time, Roger.
