Trial delayed again, Judge says this is the final delay, no further delays will be allowed. New trial date is set for September 12th for both the mother and grandmother.

Courts - Toledo Blade

The mother and grandmother of Braylen Noble, a 3-year-old boy whose body was found in a neighborhood swimming pool in September, 2020, are scheduled to go to trial in September on charges leveled in connection to his death.

“No further continuances will be granted,” Judge Ian B. English informed the defense teams for Dajnae Cox, of the 1600 block of Eleanor Avenue, and Bobbie Johnson, of the unit block of Dickens Drive.

The mother and grandmother are accused of obstructing the police investigation into Braylen’s death. Ms. Cox faces an additional charge of endangering children.

The pair appeared before Judge English in Lucas County Common Pleas Court Tuesday for a scheduled trial date, but for the second time that date was postponed.

According to the judge, some outstanding discovery remains to be delivered to the defense. He indicated that the discovery would be “provided promptly.”

Ms. Cox and Ms. Johnson are scheduled to appear for trial on Sept. 12.

Ms. Cox and Ms. Johnson have pleaded not guilty to the criminal accusations. Authorities have not provided further details as of Tuesday about the case against them.

This article says their trial is still set to start on Sept 12. Hoping Braylen will get justice soon.

I hope that eventually the truth will come to light on what happened here.

Community remembers Braylen Nobles' two years later. Hard to believe that so much time has gone by and that this child has not had justice yet. Trial will begin next week on Monday, September 12th for both his mother and grandmother.

TWO years? Omg i thought this happened around the same time that Summer went missing. Time goes by so quickly, this baby needs justice!

Alford plea. Sentencing in November. There are more details about the day it all happened.

From your link:

"Cox had told investigators that she went to take out the trash at 10:30 a.m., got back inside at 11 a.m. and smoked weed on the balcony for 45 minutes, before reporting the child missing to police at 12:20 p.m."

Disgusting.

I remember reading that the pool gates were locked, but it must have been easy for little Braylen to get through the fence slats and wander around and then fall into the pool, where the state is saying he drowned.

Finally there will be some justice for Braylen, this special child.

Seriously? It was just an accidental drowning? Why did they even try to lie about him falling from an window? Did they knew he was in the pool the whole time and said nothing?

I always felt like something happened inside the home, he was hidden somewhere and later moved to the pool but I stand corrected. What a sad case, poor Braylen.

Well, the pool was searched, more than once, and the police press statement at the time, reiterated that they would not have missed locating a small child in the pool. Volunteers confirmed that anything in the pool would have been seen. I think your initial conclusion makes sense.

I think your initial conclusion makes sense. After reading the story, I'm still confused.
That's exactly my issue with this case. I remember they searched the pool at least once and didn't find anything. The pool isn't even that big and the water was not that dirty/cloudy from what I recall.

I suspect they can't prove something happened inside the home and that they eventually moved him. I was under the impression they weren't even able to really determine how and why he died. I guess they charged them with the closest to the truth theory they could come up with and they just took it because the truth would be so much worse.

Yes. I just added the story from WTOL-11 that I found a few minutes later. They speak to some neighbors who explained that a child could not fit through the bars on the pool. I remember that issue being discussed, that it would be dangerous obviously, if little kids could just climb through the pool enclosure.

I remember being gobsmacked that he was somehow found in a pool that had already been searched. In my opinion, there is NO way that baby was in there initially.

From the link: prosecutors had "a terabyte of virtual data for the defense attorneys to comb through."

Would love to know what was found there.

I agree that prosecutors couldn't prove everything that actually happened and had to go with the charges they could make stick. None of this adds up to the actual circumstances. He couldn't have gotten inside the pool fence on his own and they would have found him in their initial searches if he had been in that pool the whole time. Not to mention, the COD would have definitively been drowning but it wasn't. It all still sickens me.

Also, what is up with the charge being "attempted" child endangerment?? It wasn't an attempt because he was, in fact, seriously endangered.
