OH OH - Brian Shaffer, 27, Columbus, 1 Apr 2006 #6

It may be something as simple as he was sold marijuana laced with fentanyl. It killed him and the people with him covered it up. I'm not arguing for that as a solution to the mystery but the idea that he crawled in a dumpster is ludicrous and if he committed suicide, the body would have been found. So either he died as a result of an accident that was covered up or someone killed him.

Fentanyl wasn't really a thing in 2006.

The flow of fentanyl into the United States in 2019 is more diverse compared to the start of the fentanyl crisis in 2014

I am thinking there’s a more simple explanation of what may have happened to cause BS to disappearance early April 1, 2006.

Campus is high crime area. Bad people look for intoxicated people to rob and especially a person who is drunk and alone.

Usually a group of bad people will target one person walking alone, but also won’t think twice about jumping two or more people in a group. Ex: Two people walking a few feet behind their group.

Its brazen behavior but desperate people do desperate things.

Due to his intoxication, BS wasn’t able to defend, and perhaps he's thrown in dumpster and unfortunately, not found.

All speculation, a matter of opinion

Those skeletal remains that were found near the Scioto (I think it was) that are discussed somewhere back in this thread. Do we know if CPD ever checked those against Brian's DNA? Or Tyler Davis', for that matter? If someone can find the post (it's almost midnight here and I am about to pass out) maybe some of us local-ish folks can set about determining if they were ever tested, and if not, gently prodding the bureaucracy to do so.

This sounds accurate and possible to me. I know dumpsters were searched, but stilll the body could have been missed, or hidden someplace else.

I also think about the Joey Labute case and wonder if there is an opportunistic predator in the area who preys on intoxicated college men.

Just learning about this case today.
I believe this photo was taken on the night he went missing when he had dinner with his dad?
What’s going on with his hand? Why’s he holding his fingers that way? Looks a bit odd to me.

Yes, when looking at other pictures, he seems to do something similar with his hand in almost all of them, I do something similar but never notice until someone else points it out.

ah, after looking again it’s the hang loose symbol (like the rocker symbol but with your thumb extended out)
Just another thought, but I flex my fingers when I’m nervous. Someone taking photos causes me immediate anxiety because I do not photograph well. I start fidgeting automatically and it is usually telling from my wrists down.

I have a Question if anyone knows , could Briam Have been doing an internship at OSU trauma unit in 1999 or early 2000 if So I think I know him???
He graduated high school 1997 then headed to OSU for his undergrad studies - so he would’ve been at OSU 99/00 but no idea about the internship. He graduated with a degree in microbiology. His postgrad was at the OSU school of medicine but he didn’t start there until 2004.
All info from wiki so may be wrong. Just imo.

If you're from Central Ohio you might know him anyway- he graduated high school from a Columbus suburb. An internship I'm not sure about but it's not impossible.

Has anyone seen a mention of a possible backdoor exit in the bar he was last seen in?
I have seen mention of it several times over the years, but no one seems to be certain/agree on where it was, how he would have gotten to it, or even if it existed at all. At this point, I'd say it possibly could have existed but it's difficult to know this far down the line. MOO

Yes, since the beginning of Thread #1 there have been mentions, re-mentions and multiple takes on the existence of exits, cameras, the 'construction' area, dumpster placement and even the infrastructure of the building and its walls.
