Found Deceased OH - Bryon Macron, 45, Lafayette Township, 15 Dec 2016

Also, I don't recall even one public plea by county officials for business and residential security cam footage. IMOO, that evidence would have gone a long way in giving a complete picture, and it's extremely suspicious that it wasn't requested.

It was requested and that's how they know what time he headed to the township hall and what time he traveled away from there. There are no cameras at the townhall itself. Footage is from a business nearby.

Did they request footage publicly or only from particular businesses? TIA

Have any media reviewed the autopsy report?

Have any media reviewed the autopsy report?
To the best of my knowledge, members of the media were only permitted to view the preliminary report. The viewing parameters are pursuant to Ohio Revised Code 313.10(D), which states, “The journalist shall not copy the preliminary autopsy and investigative notes and findings, suicide notes, or photographs of the decedent.”
Preliminary autopsy report indicates Lafayette trustee Macron stabbed

Lawriter - ORC - 313.10 Records to be public - certified copies as evidence.

Full autopsy results were announced by county coroner during a press conference on July 25, 2017. It doesn’t appear that anyone has requested access to the full autopsy report.

News media probably will not be allowed to view the final autopsy report. Former AG DeWine prevailed in a news media lawsuit regarding the unredacted final AR's for the Rhoden family murders. He took it all the way to the Ohio Supreme Court, who ruled that the news media may not review final autopsy reports. They can only review preliminary autopsy reports.

The ruling left some ambiguity and confusion, so IANAL, but it's probably up to local LE, prosecutors or the AG whether to allow news media access.

JMO, if the local prosecutors or LE don't want the media to see the final AR in this case, they will have their way.

Thank you! I wish they'd release more information about the circumstances surrounding his death. Since this was supposedly suicide, was the knife recovered?

Hi, Betty P. I was under the impression that the Ohio Supreme Court ruled against Dewine. Do you have a link to that ruling? I remember after the ruling, media reviewed what I thought were the autopsies in the Rhoden case. But I might be mistaken. TIA for helping me clear up my confusion.

It seems to me that a digital footprint would be huge in this case. If he was seriously depressed (as some allege) or having trouble with someone, it would likely be evident. Anyone know if the FBI has combed through any records? It breaks my heart to think of his wife and kids having to live without any clear answers.

Here's the WS post in the Rhoden Murders thread with links to both cases - Cincinnati Enquirer and Columbus Dispatch

Media & Timeline NO DISCUSSION - Pike Co, OH 8 Family Members Murdered

They did a clever trick last fall in having the Supreme Ct rule that the "preliminary" autopsies could be released, having the new report it as if final AR's were being reported. Slick move, but another big area of government transparency is now darkened to the public.

You are welcome :).

Perhaps more information will be made public once the investigation is complete (“Despite the inconclusive autopsy, authorities say the investigation remains active“).

As far as your question, the most recent information I could find was:
“The [preliminary] report did not specify what kind of weapon was suspected.”

While it has been reported “Macron's cause and manner of death were both ruled ‘undetermined,’” Media County Sheriff's Capt. David Centner has said “‘What we know is there’s no one involved.’”

I believe you are right, and that is likely why “Macron had downloaded some ‘high-level security’ onto his laptop and changed his passwords,” as Capt. David Centner said during a press conference on July 24, 2018.
Cause of Lafayette Township trustee's death ruled undetermined

An article published on July 26, 2017 reported:
“They are also waiting on leads that could come from Macron’s computer, which is now with the FBI.

A spokesperson could give no timeframe on how soon that would be processed, though [an attorney for Mrs. Macron, Richard] Lillie expects is could take several more months.”
Macron family hires private investigator

Some of those leads, IMO, may shed light on the “large amount” of financial debt that, according to LE, Bryon had accrued and “personal behaviors” he engaged in and “reportedly were unknown to his family and friends.”

The most recent article I can find that talks about the FBI’s involvement in the investigation is dated December 16, 2017, which reports:
“Right now, the FBI is processing Macron’s computer in hopes of finding information to help in the case.”

None of the articles from June of last year, when it was announced that:
“The Medina County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with the Prosecutor’s Office, has transferred the investigation into the death of former Lafayette Township Trustee Bryon Macron to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation”say whether the FBI is still involved in the investigation.

Keep in mind the Medina county coroner did not conduct the autopsy. It was done by the ME in Cuyahoga County. Medina County contracted with them to perform the autopsy. IIRC, the Cuy Co ME's report has never been made public. They could only make a ruling based on the autopsy itself and the information given to them by Medina County. I don't believe the Cuy Co ME made any public remarks about the autopsy results.

How can Sheriff Centner make the statement that "we know no one was involved".... when both the cause and manner of death are not known? His statement seems to me irresponsible, at best.

Any news? I've heard nothing.
Found this article from March of this year. I don’t see any new information, but it does confirm that the investigation is ongoing:
March 28, 2019 at 3:27 PM EDT - Updated March 28 at 3:27 PM
“After nearly three years, state detectives are still searching for clues surrounding the mysterious death of Lafayette Township Trustee Bryon Macron.

Macron, 45, went missing in December 2016, and his decomposing body was discovered in Chippewa Lake by a kayaker two months after his disappearance, according to the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation.

Medina County Coroner Lisa Deranek said alcohol was present in Macron's system.

Six stab wounds were discovered in his body during an autopsy, but none of those wounds are believed to be solely responsible for Macron's death.

There was no major bruising present on his body and no fractures evident.

The coroner and Medina County Sheriff’s Department said the cause of death is still ‘undetermined.’

Medina County Sheriff Captain David Centner said Macron was facing financial debt at the time of his death.

Ohio detectives still sifting through evidence linked to mysterious death of Medina County trustee

A direct quote from an OHBCI would have been nice, even if just a simple comment to the effect of “We cannot discuss the specifics of an open investigation.”

Also, it appears there have been no updates on the status of Bryon’s computer since December, 2017 (from a WKYC article dated 12/16/17: “Right now, the FBI is processing Macron’s computer in hopes of finding information to help in the case.”)

I will reach out to an Akron Beacon Journal/ohio.com reporter to see if she would be interested in doing an article on Bryon’s case. Earlier this year, I emailed her and made a suggestion for a follow-up on an unidentified person case from 2015 the paper had written about back in 2017. Sometime towards the end of 2018, a couple of Websleuthers came across a donation site that indicated the UID had been identified (the page had been set up to raise money for the exhumation and the transportation of the remains back home), but we couldn’t find anything in MSM to confirm identification had taken place. Within five days of initial contact, she emailed me back with the link to the new article (for those who may be interested, here is the link to the story: Tattooed remains found in 2015 in Chicago ID'd as missing Akron man).

I will keep everyone posted.

So would I, Spokane. I'm hoping weather conditions are similar this coming December. I want to take video of Bryon's known route that night and early morning. Also, my friend has a drone with video (purchased around the time of Bryon's death). I'm going to ask him to fly over the lake to see how visible things are and video it. IIRC, a drone was used in the search??
