No known, verified attack has occurred by a healthy coyote in Northeast Ohio on a human. Annually there are only two coyote attacks on people in the US with zero fatalities.

Ohio coyotes are small (25-30 lbs) and are also really rare in the Port Clinton area. Our gaming commission says they will not hunt or attack anything larger than a cocker spaniel. They're solo hunters despite what people want to believe. People in Ohio greatly fear them without knowing that they are essentially as harmless as a fox.

That's not to say they wouldn't move remains though :(
My brother’s remains were scattered all over the place by coyotes as determined by detectives and coroner. It took hours but LE was able to find as many pieces as possible in the late evening. The coyotes weren’t responsible for his death. He had cirrhosis of the liver and a seizure disorder. As his body laid in the woods for months, nature took over and scavengers did what they do. The next day, my sisters and I went back to the area to somehow console each other to face reality. We walked and searched much further than the area LE scoured. We found bits of the flannel shirt he was wearing. We kept following those threads of cloth and found part of what was remaining from one of his feet. We took it to the funeral home where it was then reported to police to finish their investigation. We should have called LE from the recovery site. We were still in a state of shock and just wanted his remains complete. I do hope volunteer searchers are cognizant of what they may find. Are they prepared of what may be discovered? It’s still been a relatively short time of decomposition if this young boy died the day of his disappearance. I worry about searchers bringing children to accompany them.

((Hugs)). That must have been so difficult to face. Thank you for sharing your experience to provide insight to those helping in the search for Harley.

My thoughts, my heart, my prayers are with Harley. I can't imagine going through the reality hell you have gone through. I am truly concerned about this sweet, so honest kid, Harley. I think he sincerely didn't want to go to school and reacted to his mother's refusal to agree to allow him to stay home. I don't know that I have ever followed a case where a parent has locked a child out of the house for any reason. It boggles my mind.

I want Harley to come home, safe and sound. Are his parents capable of facilitating that? Is LE capable facilitating it? I don't know.

I am sorry to hear about your brother. That had to be an awful discovery for you and your sisters.
As for what you said about hoping the searchers don't bring children to accompany them, I saw on the sheet they had posted on MSM that volunteers had to be 18, but in the pictures they posted today there were some there that looked to be around HD's age. I hope they are prepared for the worst. That was always the motto I had while working for Animal Control, Prepare for the worst and pray for the best.

The Friday that Harley disappeared was Ugly Sweater Day at the school. I wonder if he participated in the holiday theme week dress this particular week.
*Port Clinton High School

Mon - Polar Express Day (wear your pajamas)
Tue - Tinsel Tuesday (dress in sparkles, glitter, silver, and gold)
Wed - Santa/Snowman/Elf Day (dress as one of these characters or wear a Santa hat).
Thu - Jingle all the way to break day
Fri - Ugly Sweater Day on Friday.
Show your spirit and dress in the themes!
Holiday Spirit Theme Days at PC Schools Dec 16 -20

What Harley was wearing underneath the maroon jacket was not disclosed until Jan 5. It’s been a puzzle to me since Harley disappeared. Suddenly it’s posted in msm he was wearing a “thin sweater” when he left the morning of Dec 20. Why now is it mentioned? How does someone suddenly say this after this amount of time? Who saw him in a sweater? Is it an assumption? By whom?

*It was 18 degrees with snow on the ground when he left his home and he was last seen wearing a thin sweater, sweatpants and a thin "puffy" coat, police said.

Im of the opinion that “what he was wearing” is a best guess by mom and/or LE since no one actually saw him that morning. He could have had his favorite ugly Christmas sweater on underneath his coat and she wouldn’t have seen it. Unless she has gone through his closet to see what is missing. <modsnip: info not in MSM> My opinion only.

Hi everyone, thank you for the warm welcome! Just a general reply to some questions. The locals are all over the place. Every.single.theory. is out there. A lot of it is "I heard..." or "I saw Harley's YT videos it's obvious _____" extremely sloppy comment threads. Human Trafficking is one of the theories a lot of people are coming back to because of the location in Ohio. For those not blaming the family, there are conspiracy theories, a theory that someone close is hiding him, a stalker, someone he met online via gaming, and some really, really just outlandish theories. I guess kinda run of the mill when you try to wade into the local community around the case. (Never had it so close that it literally flooded my timeline though this is crazy) The reason I came here was that I needed the professionalism, order, and easy to follow format.
(and to see if it had been listed of course)

I did notice that there is a local security company (beesafe?) that has their own FB group to search for Harley, not listed as one of the official agencies being worked with. I think they are aiming for the reward money but to me, presenting themselves as a position of authority on the case when they are not. I also noticed that the agencies working on the case are shrinking, in the last update by the chief I did not see any search and rescue agencies on there.

I believe Rosefromangels is talking about the same stuff I have had to wade through. On Facebook itself there is a general talk group for the town, then there are 2 other groups being lead by others looking for Harley, so it's just a huge mess. I can't believe Rosefromangels was able to wade through so much of that and able to list it. Great job. I hope I answered any questions anyone had, and of course this all MOO/take from it all.

I honestly am baffled where Harley could be. There are little facts to go on outside he was last seen walking to school. If I had to guess? I would say he was snatched. There hasn't been much snowfall here if any to really speak of, so there's not layers of snow or ice he could be under. It would have to be the lake or there are smaller little ponds and such around PC. Port Clinton sits right on the lake, but when I was young there were a lot of places to go in that town. The tracks that run behind 3rd street i think? has woods that we would play in as children. Little woody areas everywhere. Port Clinton has the nickname of "Miami beach of Ohio' It's a 'beachside' town with tons of tourists etc in the summers. But incredibly impoverished overall. Lots of abandoned homes and businesses sit empty. Cedar Point is less than half an hour from there. Lots of islands and boats around as well.

I know this is entirely off-topic to Harley and don't want to derail at all - but I'd like to thank those that wrote in support of Sober Houses. My son recently graduated from a Sober house and it hurt my heart to read that speculation, but I was so glad to see so many here that know what sober houses are about. Sober houses aren't filled with nefarious criminals or perverts looking to pluck children from their homes. Getting accepted to one is hard, and most of them allow your children to stay with you on weekends in your living space. It's a very strict living environment with responsibilities, a lot of therapy, and working on themselves, they also usually have come from rehab to transition to sober living and then to home. It's very rigid and it's a huge achievement to graduate. I am only writing this in hopes that in future that isn't tossed around as an idea, its misleading and stigmatizing to the recovery community.

Thanks all, I hope I was able to provide some more information about the layout of the town etc.

I am happy for you and your son, that he was able to successfully move through the Sober House process. Congratulations for his hard earned Graduation! And I agree with you that many Sober Houses are well run, high quality and strict.

However not all sober houses and/or halfway houses meet that same high standard. Just like anything , there are lesser quality substandard examples. Many halfway houses are little more than flop houses for released felons, and have very little scrutiny. Sad but true.

Thank you. So we know for sure he left his house at 6:08 am. He proceeded south, towards the hospital, down the alley that runs between his house and the sober house. He isn't seen on any hospital surveillance?

Unless he told someone to meet him in the alley?

There’s no trace of him after the alley. Surveillance by TES didn’t seem noteworthy, dogs didn’t pick up a scent. Seems to me he got picked up. Port Clinton is a very sleepy town. It’s not a kidnapping hub. Not that it couldn’t happen, but I highly doubt it. I think this kid met someone online and they helped him get away. And now, with everything going on, he’s scared to come back. The person he’s with doesn’t want to get in trouble and he’s thinking he will be in a whole heap of trouble if he surfaces. They need to start looking in Fremont and Sandusky. He’s probably not far. If he is with someone, they are likely over 18 and probably lives alone. Easy to hide this kid. JMO

It's a mystery. What could have happened to him in such a short time? He didn't make it to the school which was only a few blocks away so where did he go? It was very cold outside that morning, he wasn't walking around town for hours out in that cold, and even if he was, someone else would have seen him or caught him on surveillance. I have wondered if shortly after leaving his house if he got in someone's car, or maybe even went inside someone's house for some reason. If so, it would likely be someone he knew or was familiar with, not someone he met online, because I imagine LE would have found a trail of communication if that were the case. Another possibility is that he headed for school but decided to go back home for some reason, and took a route which the neighbor's surveillance did not catch him returning to his house. This is all assuming that the 6:08am footage is actually really Harley. Such a frustrating case!

I might be wrong and apologies if so,but have we considered the possibility that someone he knows was communicating with him online?,I mean everyone close enough to the Dillys seemed aware of Harleys online presence, surely disguising yourself online to reel him in would be the perfect way to trick him?. Just a thought and MOO

I keep thinking that also. I mean just b/c his xbox and phone were taken away doesn't mean he didn't have a way to get online right? he could have been in contact with someone and they could have made plans to high tail it outta there. you never know what was going on. I hope that the FBI or whomever has his electronic devices has gone through EVERYTHING and found all the hidden files and convos. Yes, you can hide files and programs on a phone, xbox, pc..everywhere. My brother is almost 50 and works IT. I know who I'm gonna turn to should anything EVER happen in my family. Then again the butt head has remote access hacked my pc before and scared the absolute crap outta me. BUT, we kinda have a code, it's what he used to tease me with as a child, a set of random numbers.

Perhaps HD had a code with a friend online and when they were talking they had it set that when he used a certain code number or word that meant he was gonna take off. He could have told his friend the code so his friend knew he was gonna leave, so his friend knew, but the friend was staying home so not to look suspicious, or so not to have 2 "runaways". Maybe there is a certain date that if HD isn't back by that the friend is supposed to speak up by?? JMO and thinkin out loud here....don't mind me, random thought process....I mean I have an 18 y/o and then I am thinkin abt how I was when I was 18....ya know back in the AOL and Yahoo chat room days, I saw codes flyin past all the time. Kids are goin "retro" again because they think it's cool. I'm 19 years older than my son so I'm not to "out of touch" with everything...lol

I’ve bought a few of these in my lifetime, various types and pay as you go service.
Burner smart type phone would not be cheap like a cheapie flip phone.
And he would burn thru minutes/data - so he would need an unlimited minute/data plan.
Buy phone at Walmart - add the $40 Verizon unlimited data plan gift card usually hanging right above the phones, easily spend over $100.
I don’t see him having $100 to spend.

I have loads of various smartphones around the house in various states of disrepair, some are dead, some dont charge very well, some just have broken screens etc,all are capable of connecting to wifi if they still work at all,and I would have no idea if they were still in the house, they get left in a drawer and forgotten about. We get an upgrade every 2 years and usually take it because we get a shiny new phone that we dont actually need but want anyway!

Wasn’t there a mention of someone else’s phone being used by his mom in one of his videos? Where the parents were both talking about something spilled? I need to go back and look.

While this is not my primary speculation, it is my second. In this theory, Harley pleading to stay home makes sense. Perhaps he was afraid to follow through on his plan, and was seeking a way out by trying to stay home. However, according to the mother, she directed him to go to school, which may have propelled the plan forward.

However, because of various inconsistencies in the telling of events leading up to Harley’s disappearance, I am lead to currently believe foul play is the likely scenario. I hope I am able to change that speculation as more details unfold.

I believe it is foul play, just maybe foul play from someone closer to home,I just wonder if maybe someone with bad intentions has pretended to be someone else online and has duped Harley into thinking he had a friend the same age to turn to and lured him to a meeting place and then taken him,and that this person is in actual fact an adult Harley knows,so he wouldnt be spooked when this person happened to be in the same place as Harley was supposed to meet his online saviour like he would be if there was a strange adult lurking.
I hope this post makes sense!
All just MOO

Has his father made any public pleas for his return yet? Is there a newscast showing him? I can’t seem to find one.

Does Port Clinton have a morning newspaper? Here in my town we have a morning paper and the drivers come around to drop off the newspaper anywhere from around 5-6:00am.
They’re not employees of the news paper, just subcontractors using their own cars getting paid so much for

Harley’s dad hasn’t spoken to the press but he was shown in a Fox 8 News video yesterday (standing beside Chief Hickman) when he spoke to the volunteer searchers.

What if he never came home from his friend’s house? I know he left there but is there video evidence of him coming home? That would give him an earlier start to get away. Poor little Harley. Where are you?

Thanks for the news clip. Sounds like they have confirmed his route to school each day. Did he leave everyday that early 6:08pm? It just seems so early to leave. Also the date is still making a ng me wonder why friday for him to leave?

The police said they have video of him leaving the friend's house (though never released) If he never came home Thursday night not sure why police/parents would not say that ?
