Not taking her phone could be a way of 'avoiding' being found. Teens are pretty savvy about technology and most aware you can be tracked or traced by your cell phone pings IMO. Hope she is okay.

I thought that too, but still, why would she leave the tv on, take her house key, and leave her dogs outside? It just all doesn't add up together.

She has a boyfriend but of what I've talked to him, he has absolutley no idea of what happened to her. Sounded genuine.

This truly sounds to me like an adventure. Leaving the phone so she can't be tracked but taking her ID....

I'm wondering if any money was taken with her since the parents mentioned she took her ID.
Was cash or debit cards taken? Was any clothes taken? Her dad mentions she was showing off her new pajamas that morning. Where those PJs found in the hamper because that would indicate if she got changed or not.

Have security cameras from any homes in the area been checked for clues? Maybe something lured her outside, I just don't know what that could be.

I can't imagine what her parents are going through. As the mom of teen girls, I know that none of them ever go anywhere or make plans without some detail of it, on their cell phones. Either in text, snapchat, instagram, FB messenger or *something*. So if this was planned, it's most likely that there is evidence of it on her cell.

The fact that the dogs lost her scent does indicate she got into a car. Someone she knew? Someone who said "hey, I'll give you a ride home" ?? Ugh. Just a lot of guesses. Hoping they find this girl safe, and soon.

That's great. I recommend that the VI is a friend of the family, a caring local, neighbor of the family or a classmate / friend of Kat. I think this site can be difficult for immediate family members or relatives. There can be hurtful speculation and difficult things to read here.

The VI plays an important role of offering verified information that cannot be found in MSM. This information can be critical in brainstorming / sleuthing genuine leads or ideas to bring Kat home safely. The VI relays any substantial leads / speculation to the family and/or LE.

Hopefully she will return home safely very soon. :heartbeat:

Agreed. I was thinking maybe she got into a car too. Although, I don't know how busy the intersection is.... maybe just too many scents for dogs to follow?

Is there a case map yet? I'd like to see the distance from her home to the first witness sighting to the send witness sighting. How far did she walk? If she was planning on heading somewhere far, why not have her parents drop her off then walk or call for a ride home? Did she usually walk away from her home for errands etc? So many questions

I would think that she got into a car willingly being it was still daytime and the intersection where the dogs trail stops, looks to be fairly busy. If she would have been forced, I would think somebody would have seen it.

I'm also of the belief that she got into a vehicle where the dogs lost her scent.
Hopefully neighbors have security footage that can be shared with law enforcement.

I just can't get over leaving the dogs outside. It seems unnecessary. Most 17 year old girls are more compassionate towards their animals. Now I could see maybe she forgot them outside? My kids have done that once or twice.

The rest of it just scared me. I don't see her on an adventure. I see possible undiagnosed mental issue onset, or something bad happened to her.

This case scares me and I'm not sure what to think of it. I don't think her leaving the phone behind is "strategic". I take walks without my phone fairly frequently around where I live - because I feel SAFE doing so... and I'm 22, and on my phone much of the time. Sometimes it's nice to be disconnected from technology for a bit.

And it seems very unlikely to me she would've ran away after leaving her dogs outside. Judging from what her classmates here are saying about her, she seems like a kind and responsible girl. Leaving her dogs outside says to me that she really thought she would be right back.

The intersection isn't busy at all, it's a residential area near a dead-end road. I haven't seen a case map. Her parents had just left to go out of town an hour earlier, and she did often walk, there's local food places and stores nearby.
